    Oh, to @pointless because I forgot to mention it above, I’m at 50/8 level and mastery wise. (Actually my mastery ranks are between 6-9 but 8’s my most common at the moment.)

    @smwforever45 @partshade @datguygamer
    My original answer was based on the Beserker only have base 969, which is low for inclusion in an Arena team. I was not disparaging the class per se, as it is definitely playable. There are better options, however, and since it has been brought up, let’s examine them (I will use numbers based on my 50/12 classes and ignore any critical additions, as these are gear dependent, not inherent to any class):
    First, Beserker is not Bomb’s highest damaging class. This is Frost Savage. You are concluding Beserker’s damage based on full Rage, so I will assume Frost Savage’s attack against a frozen target.
    Beserker base 1808 + 50% due to full Rage is 2712 damage
    FS base 1915 x 150% attack on frozen is 2872

    Next, are you really considering Beserker’s Frenzy as a viable AoE attack? The most it can do is a 5% knock on the banner, which for me is 25,339, equivalent of 1266 damage to all (granted this could be more if I equipped a non-Set banner, but would one really sacrifice these bonuses simply for higher Frenzy damage?). Really an insignificant damage at my level where the weakest Bird is ~3500 hp. This attack also is independent on Rage state and is not increased.

    For direct comparison, Sea Dog does 2659 damage next to Beserker’s 2712, so almost identical. Yes, the damage goes down significantly when he is damaged, but so does Beserker’s after the first round (assuming Golden Chili and its use in the first round). There are direct ways to control and improve Sea Dog’s damage, whereas there are none for Beserker, except Rage increasing items, which, again, sacrifices the overall team effectiveness. You are also all ignoring the incredible advantage of Gang Up, as you are therefore getting, at the very least, an extra attack every two turns, and more than that if you play the class correctly and have some luck with the toss and Time Jump procs. This can be truly devastating.

    @pointless Well considering that 150% is conceived only when the opponent is stunned/frozen, I never use Frost Savage. Personally, I may be wrong but I personally go with direct damage as opposed to damage after a setup. For the record, my Sea Dog does a base damage of 2223 at M12/L41, Frost Savage at 1600 and Berserker at 1511. Now considering I have the Golden Chili, my Berseker first hand does a damage of 2267 which is just a tad bit more than Sea Dog and definitely more than FS. So I switch between sea Dog and Berserker usually but that’s me.

    @pointless
    Frost Savage is decent against a single strong enemy that does multiple weak hits rather than one strong hit at a time, for example Prince Porky or Poseidon Pig, since every hit can freeze the enemy with a 25% chance. FS can also be strong against AoE hitters like Chuck or the Blues (or an opposing Berserker). For all other purposes I don’t find it that good.
    Plus FS does not have the most base damage. That’s Pirate (on my setup, 1073 for Pirate vs. 965 for FS, both are mastery 7 at this point).

    There’s rare cases where your Chili is filled to 0%. If necessary, have the other birds go first, that’ll automatically increase Berserker’s damage.

    I do not want to wait for a full rage chili to use Bomb’s rage chili effect which is undoubtedly the strongest AoE attack. Berserker gives me the ability to have three birds on my team that can damage all birds at all times. Without Berserker it’s only two.

    Of course Sea Dog is a bit better overall but for me who does not have the Sea Dog (yet), that’s my class to go. And it really isn’t that bad.

    Pointless
    @pointless

    No, as I said, Beserker is not bad at all, was just comparing the options. And I also should have clarified: I was referring to damage dealt by Bomb in an unaltered state by mentioning Frost Savage. I personally do not use that class at all (although can be frustrating to play against). If you consider all options, then Capt’n can be the most damaging, with Whip Up on himself, Witch/Giant Growth on Bomb and Tricksters/Glee. A lot of set up and a very questionable Arena team, but if you want to take it to extremes…
    I myself rely on Red (alternating between Samurai and Paladin depending on opposition) with Dragon Breath. That provides plenty AoE as well as significant single target damage.

    Just got my daily objectives… One of them is winning three battles using Cleric and Thunderbird. I can’t complete that because I’m missing the Thunderbird. I knew it’d happen to me. ;-; Should I spend real money to complete them? That last one is worth 3000 AP after all and that might be the reason for me to not advance to Silver in 24 hours…
    The others are simply winning three battles, and winning five battles with Mathilda and Bomb…

    RedYoshi45
    @smwforever45

    Knew it. I’m down to #4 because everyone else has Thunderbird of course. I need him or else all this effort this week was wasted…

    And I just saw that the balance on my Apple ID is too low for more than 100 LC’s. I need 237 more to buy Thunderbird. ;-;

    All I could do is try and get 1k arena points just by battling. But that’ll be tough… and the others can do the same as me…

    Pointless
    @pointless

    @smwforever45 Arena is built around IAPs (or luck and hard work from the beginning). I am surprised if this is the first time you have had an objective requiring Premium Classes. I get them all the time (Stone Guard and Princess for myself today).
    My suggestion is to simply write off this week (or grind if you have time to see where you’ll get), Thunderbird isn’t worth it right now for you. If you don’t have the Golden Chili, make that a priority, then if Arena is your focus, approach the LC Classes, as these appear often in Arena objectives (including Sea Dog, btw…you won’t regret that purchase).

    RedYoshi45
    @smwforever45

    @pointless It obviously isn’t the first time… but this hits me right in a time where I’m on an extremely competitive board and everyone wants to be in the Silver league :(
    The game never asked me for Stone Guard yet… only Sea Dog, Thunderbird and Witch so far.

    I can’t just “write off this week” after I’ve come this far, I’d disappoint myself… The only thing that can truly stop me is when I lost all my banners and I have no LC’s to refill them.
    Yeah, Golden Chili is my main priority. I was gonna try and get to the Gold or Platinum league too but I have to hope for a less competitive board and/or better objectives.

    Pointless
    @pointless

    @smwforever45 I am only asking you to look at the big picture and no offence is implied, but what does spending LCs on an Arena refresh or a marginal class gain you? Accept this week (one of many, there will be another day) as a write off if you can’t grind, and save your precious LCs for real gain. Save for Golden Chili (a game changer) and then Classes, Sea Dog being the best of the bunch.

    RedYoshi45
    @smwforever45

    @pointless Did a few more battles but it’s pointless, I didn’t get the 75 arena points a single time and all my wins are 2-star or 1-star. I could do a hundred battles before I make it to rank 3… Only to find myself on rank 4 again an hour later. It all happened to me already.

    You’re kinda right you know… I should rather keep the 23 LC’s for something else. When I collect 102 more (which I should have by the end of the month if I don’t spend any) I can afford the Golden Chili which is a start. However, that means I may also not buy a single roll on the GPM on the 3x RR (which is accompanied by Rainbow Bar Chaos this time!) or the 5x RR, and I’m in need of set items too.
    Sometimes setting the right priorities is tough…

    Rovin
    @rovintan

    @smwforever45
    Definitely should prioritize the Golden Chili first, it is the first thing I bought with my LCs. Having the ability to start a battle with a rage attack is invaluable for getting 3 stars in the main game or in the arena. The only thing is that you may not be able to use it properly if you lose the coin toss in the arena.

    abcdefg
    @abcdefg

    @rovin @smwforever45 yes definitely prioritize on the Golden Chili first. I have 54 LC’s currently about halfway there. Also notice the new set item for Bomb in the April calender.

    @vinnieb00

    I actually much prefer Berserker over Sea Dog. Both have their specific weakness’ but I’d say its a lot more difficult to maintain damage consistency when manipulating the Sea Dog’s health.

    Reason I say this is because AoE is a big factor in Arena I feel the Sea Dog (or birds in general) is way too vulnerable to inadvertent AoE damage. With Berserker, the chilli bar is already manipulated via two ways, taking damage or dealing damage whether it be on birds or banners either side. That’s what so great about the Berserker’s design, its damage will never fall to its lowest threshold by your next turn since the enemy is gonna continue triggering the chilli every time they attack.

    What I’m trying to say is, Berserker is a solid class when its the only one left standing (especially in a loosing scenario) since you can either choose to deal a chunk of single target damage or Frenzy for a reasonable amount of AoE from your banner. With Sea Dog however, Gang Up is next to useless if Bomb is the only one standing and if he’s already chunked then he potentially deals even less then Berserker. The drawbacks feel a lot more significant if you’re already playing from behind as Sea Dog.

    So it’s give or take. Sea Dog’s definitely better if you win the toss since you’re DPS is just much higher. If you loose the toss then I don’t see Sea Dog having that strong of an impact catching up compared to Berserker.

    Of course, this is highly dependent whether or not you own the golden chilli to get that boost for Berserker. So if I were you @smwforever45, if you really want to continue your pursuit in climbing with Berserker. Golden chilli is a must. However, because the objectives can be a real piss-taker in wanting you to win premium class even though you don’t own them. Make sure you put some of the premium classes on your priority list too.

    datguygamer
    @datguygamer

    I think I don’t even need to play complete today’s objectives. Even without them, I’m still 3K ahead of #2.

    RedYoshi45
    @smwforever45

    @rovintan
    The Rage Chili works in the Arena too? Only more of a reason for me to prioritise it.

    @vinnieb00

    Yeah I’d say the same. It’s actually not that uncommon that Bomb’s the last one standing on the field given that only Red has more health on my set-up, and opposing teams always seem to go for the lowest-health bird first, in my case usually Chuck.

    If I understand you guys right I can probably forget my ambitions of making it into a high league this season, when I don’t have the premium classes. :(

    Pointless
    @pointless

    @vinnieb00 what you are not taking into account is that with Valiant (even post-nerf), Bomb is up again with full health very quickly, making Sea Dog the better option. I will also take the RNG of Scissors crit and Valiant item bonus to augment AoE over the low-hitting Frenzy any day (granted Bomb is not, by far, my primary source of AoE in my setup).

    Pointless
    @pointless

    @smwforever45 yes the Golden Chili applies in Arena as well, obviously making winning battles much easier. This is why I recommend you not spend another LC until you can purchase this.
    And yes, unfortunately, this does mean your Arena ambitions will be on hold, but really the Premium classes are not cheap to begin with, so you wouldn’t be able to be truly competitive in Arena for a while, given the frequency of these showing up in objectives. Out if curiosity, which classes do you not yet own?

    RedYoshi45
    @smwforever45

    @pointless
    Wow that’s cool.

    Not a single LC… it’ll be hard to not spend LC’s during the 3X and 5X RR but I’ll try to stand through…

    Yeah, I guess… I’ll still hope I can rank up into Silver or Gold without completing all the objectives. I was unlucky with my competitive board this week…

    Think I wrote it somewhere else but here’s the classes I’m still missing:
    Stone Guard, Thunderbird, Illusionist, Witch, Sea Dog and Skulkers.
    I bought the Bard in February and Paladin in January, I think. These were the cheapest Premium classes so I got them first.
    Reason I’m missing three of the Premium classes is because I wasn’t playing Epic while the respective events were running. 780 LC’s I wouldn’t need to spend now if I had played. Sackcloth and ashes on me…

    datguygamer
    @datguygamer

    As far as I’ve seen:
    * In arena, opponents always go after the lowest health ally, followed the next one.
    * Golden Pigs always target Red first if you take him with you.
    * Brutes have a tendency of attacking Matilda more so than other birds.
    * In arena, emblem abilities and automatic abilities (like chance related Set Bonus and normal passive abilities) seem to trigger more often for the AI controlled team. This one most people know.
    * During a fresh arena day, the first opponent is always a weak one followed by gradually strong ones.
    * Arena wheel seems a bit more cooperative than the other wheels in the game. However, when it feels like trolling, boy does it troll (once had to waste 37 FE for obtaining max arena point)
    * GAPM is also a bit more lenient at giving Set Items than the normal one.

    Pointless
    @pointless

    @datguygamer
    1) No, not always, depends on who wins the toss and what you do if you win. I often have the enemy target my Banner on their turn if I devastate their team enough on my first go. But if they win, yes, you are correct. Use this to your advantage. I could write pages on the Arena AI…
    2) Again, no. Seems to always be bird with highest health. Shown with high frequency in the Event Golden Pig Dungeons.
    3) Have noticed this to be truly Random
    4) A definite point of contention with many, not sure I entirely agree, RNG being what it is. I have had my share of luck, and believe we just remember the bad losses due to this rather than the dominant wins.
    5) Absolutely…again, take advantage of this by completing your hardest objectives first, if possible.
    6 & 7) Have not noticed enough to comment, you may very well be correct.

    datguygamer
    @datguygamer

    @pointless
    About #1, I did not go that far in details but yes, if the opponent wins they will always go after Chuck if you team has one.
    About #2, I did say that if you take Red with you and since he is the one with the highest health, Golden Pigs go after him first followed the one just below.
    About #3, The brutes for me most of the times go after Matilda, no matter what kind. Was not saying that on the behalf of all players.

    Pointless
    @pointless

    @datguygamer if you want to be specific about #1, it will be your Bird with the lowest health, and as most bring Chuck into Arena, he is targeted simply due to this.
    As far as #2, you said Red followed by Chuck. In my case, Bomb is the second highest hp member in my PvE team, so he is targeted if Red has taken any damage. If your Chuck is your next highest, then yes.
    I have not really tracked #3 that closely. Where does your Matilda rate in terms of heath in your team? I do see Blues targeted often (although as I am not tracking, cannot pin it on anything more than RNG), and he is generally my middle hp team member. Does anyone have anything to support/deny this with Brute?

    datguygamer
    @datguygamer

    So, got promoted to Platinum League. Now to hunt for 3 star Resurrection (mwahahaha)..

    Anonymous

    @pointless The problem with this is that you’re comparing Berserkers power against Sea Dog to Valiant. Of course with Valiant Sea Dog is a much better alternative seeing as how much more often he’s at full health. However, with any other set it makes it much harder to maintain Sea Dog’s health unless you use Matilda which either way would do more bad than good.

    With Berserker and pretty much any set except Valiant you don’t have to worry about keeping his health up or making sure that you have all birds up to get the most effectiveness out of him.

    So in the end I do partially agree. While Sea Dog is overall better (With or without Valiant) than Berserker, Sea Dog is much harder to maintain in the arena. Valiant just makes it easier.
