The time is fast approaching! With Angry Birds Star Wars II being released in 9 days (on September 19th), Rovio is looking to dish out some last-minute love to its existing apps. What better place than in the original Angry Birds game!
The v3.2.0 release of Red’s Mighty Feathers was met with — well, let’s call it mixed reviews. According to our poll, about half of the Nest thought the gameplay was a bit too different to satisfy your Angry Birds cravings. But no matter… Coming next week will be an update to Red’s Mighty Feathers featuring classic-style gameplay!
There are a few questions surrounding this update. And there’s actually a few answers, based solely on the image that Rovio teased above.
- Q: Is it more “Egg-Defender Mode”?
A: No, classic pig-popping gameplay will return, featuring most-if-not-all of your favorite feathered friends. Big Brother and the Black Bird appear in the top screenshot in the teaser. - Q: Will Red Bird still have his “homing” ability?
A: Yes, it appears he will. Look closely at the bottom-right screenshot to see the Red Bird being redirected backwards. With some many pigs on-screen, the better question is if “homing” will be manually directed by the flinger, similar to the Lazer Bird in Angry Birds Space. - Q: Will Red Bird’s “homing” ability be retroactive to all levels?
A: No, we don’t think so. In the initial release, Rovio made it quite clear that they didn’t want to disrupt the gameplay of previously-released levels. - Q: Will I have to pass the 15 “Egg-Defender” levels to play the new ones?
A: We don’t know… yet. My guess would be yes, because levels unlock sequentially. Passing those 15 levels would be a small price to pay for this free update. But while you’re at it, our 3-star walkthroughs are there to help you, along with some tricks and tips from the pros! - Q: When exactly will this update land for my platform?
A: Of course, we don’t know ;)
Be sure to keep your eyes peeled, because who knows what else Rovio has in store for us before Star Wars II is released! Return of the Jedi? Angry Birds Space? Hrm….
I Love the fact they are going back to the classic game play…another AB update…sounds Great to me! With reds homing ability that will make for some interesting game play!
Hopefully we’ll have enough time before ABSW 2 comes out!
I see an uptick in membership in Angry Birds Anonymous. How many levels do they think we can complete in a week?
@mvnla2, I think users will be too busy to stop by ABA. I know I will be, especially if I have to finish those (stupid imo) mighty feather levels in order to play these new ones. Only got through the first 4 levels before I gave up on them.
@sparty83 I hope we don’t have to complete them either. I only completed the first 4 or 5 too. It just wasn’t fun for me, and I had no desire to try to finish them.
Guess I will have to finally finish those first fifteen levels. Wonder if we might also see the long rumored Crystal Planet in Space soon???
Hey! Maybe not, Just zoomed way in on that level select screen, and it appears to be the first page of the chapter…
I hope this is the case. I played one level & went “Umm, no.”
I hope your second post is right. I wil not play RMF style.
Biting my tongue for now….
The photo shows the first chapter, but we still don’t know if the first chapter is the new one or the existing one.
Good thing I finished and 3-starred these levels when they were released. Now I’m ready for more fun..
I put the opposite in a questionnaire of Red’s Mighty Feathers by force.
However, I felt that it was stupid whenever I pushed forward a level.
After having got all 3 stars, I wanted a further level.
It is long in coming to be able to do it while it competes for a score!
Yeah! Finally, a classic ABo update after a LONG time.
I hope, we don’t need to finish those 15 “Egg-Defender” levels to unlock classic levels.
They can divide ‘Red’s Mighty Feathers’ into two different sections, –
One for Egg-Defender levels and one for Classic levels. In this way, players can choose, which gameplay they want to play.
Hopefully, ABSW1 ‘Return of The Jedi update’ will also come out next week or this Thursday ;)
@ibird
I think that the 15 Levels have to be finished but not to be 3-stared everyone to see the next New Levels. But we will see what future tells :-)
Ok! very good!
I wish that it comes for PC but if it don’t come I can install it at my Phone!
Wow great News to see a Classic style Gameplay in Red Mighty Feathers. Some of the first 15 Levels where really hard work to play and 3 staring. So we will see many surprises from Rovio until 19th September. We will have a lot of work in the near future. Can’t wait to see the Original and Star Wars ll Update. And don’t forget about Angry Birds GO :-) So my flinging Friends, let us kill the Green Piggies!
:-)
Good Heavens Finally! The pig’s designs have been changed to the newer, more polished ones. I’ve always been scared of one of those old black-eyed sprites. Gave me nightmares actually.
@lolwutburger Yes, the classic Pigs sprites (designs) has changed to Chrome/Space sprites. Now the game becomes more cool :)
Looks like I’ll have to finish those darned Mighty Feather levels this weekend to get ready for the update. I think Rovio blew it by not making those a separate game.
Aw, I kind of liked the insanely hard moving levels. :(
Did anyone notice Chuck on the level screen in this teaser?
I did @fooly08 .
No, I didn’t notice him.
Wow…made to level 6 and hit a brick wall in eye-hand coordination. Have some work-at-play to accomplish in order to move to the next level. These were fun but they do challenge one’s (especially mine) ability to think in a different manner from the other AB games. There appears to be something ‘linear’ about these levels that appears harder to complete but hope is there on changing the predisposition to the strats that will enable one to perform well on these levels. Hope the new levels will simulation the “old style” but will patiently wait with the anticipation of excitement of a new game to enjoy.
ABO v. 3.3.0 is out!
Is there no Golden Egg or any bonus for 3-starring the “F” levels?
No, those would have been included in the v3.2.0 release.
Yep, I didn’t play a lot angry birds until this week since Rovio was not even updating the game
