Angry Birds Challenge
Welcome to the updated Angry Birds Challenge! Every day there will be a RANDOM level selected for you to play. Play for fun or use it as an excuse to improve your current score. A great goal is to try and beat the "Average" score below. Already done that? Then pork up and try to fling your way into the "Top 50"! Done that too?! Then take on the ultimate task and shoot for the "Highscore"! There is also a layer of competition here, as this page is connected to the leaderboard, so if you can improve your score you may also improve your rank. That said, don't enter lower scores here.

Hi @steviep147. There’s also a comment on page 5 of this thread by Kelani. He refers to the spreadsheet in bold type, and tapping on it opens the link. It’s where I go whenever I want to see the spreadsheet. Here is the relevant bit:-

This copy and paste won’t open the spreadsheet, you need to open page 5 and scroll down to Kelani’s original comment, but it only takes a couple of seconds.
Thanks @peejaydee27. I was ignorant of the rules regarding underdog badge as I rarely took part. I assumed (wrongly) that the high score of the day won a badge. Beating long-standing scores is a tough ask.
Ditto @steviep147 ! I did exactly the same thing when I first started playing the challenge a few years back. Thought I had a puppy score on one of my first tries.
Tough challenge. I have tried but failed !!
Today’s challenge; JP 36-10. I have no idea how I got 147k originally. Maybe a design change? Can I ask. Have today’s high scorers been following a different strategy to mine? Please share if so. Using my own method I’m at least 10k or more shy of my original score. @liontooth and @gladvold I’d be interested to know how it was done. Thanks.
I Have a 252K Score! I Flinged Hal to the TNT, and Used Terrence to Knock Out the Dinosaur Statue! Then used the Birdquake as a Last Resort!
I Got a Score Of a Whopping 77,510 Points! Here’s the Strategy: 1st I Flinged Red to the Left tower being careful not to let it topple Down the other structures giving more Protection to the Bottom 2 Pigs. Next! I Flinged Matilda to the Middle! And Dropping her Egg Bomb there! Defeating the Remaining Pigs! If that 1st Step Failed, I just use Chuck to Defeat the remaining Pigs
Daylight Savings time, 1 extra hour to do the challenge!

@Peejaydee27 Must be a Glitch in the system, delayed Daylight Savings time effect , I’m sure, (I hope), that @admins will fix it soon. the good thing is We aren’t really losing an hour of the challenge, just the timer is off.

Hi @admins @birdleader. Just a note to say that this challenge page is still displaying instructions for the Advent Calendar Challenge, with today as “day 21 of 25”. Thought you might want to update it.
@admins For all the people stuck at home with this CV. Can we have extra Daily Challenges from the various and perhaps more popular episodes to help alleviate the boredom. Thanks.
@admins There appears to be an issue with uploading pictures to your album. My screenshots for today’s challenge were 3.56 MB and 3.37 MB but I received an error, stating that pictures have to be under 20 MB. I had the same thing happen a couple weeks back with a picture of 2.5 MB but I thought it was just an isolated case. The true limit seems to be 2 MB, which I think is too low.

Hi fellow fingers! Missing playing along with you for a while. My iPad (bought new a year ago), has totally crashed and is unusable. The local Apple repair agent has said it needs diagnostics to see if it can be repaired or replaced, but due to the pandemic, there’s a one to two months wait for processing. Sigh. Even when I get it back, or get a replacement, all my apps will be gone, so I guess I’ll have to start from scratch. Aghhhh! I understand that the ABO series is no longer available for re-download, even the paid for version, so I guess my ABO days are over! Anyway, good luck all and see you sometime ?

@peejaydee27, only just spotted this, really terrible news, really sorry for you. We had a lot of fun, all that leapfrogging! At least you got top 20 on ABO before it crashed. Even more worrying is difficulty in getting hold of ABO anymore. Rovio have lost the plot, they wouldn’t be where they are without this classic game and they clearly don’t give a hoot about the people who made them successful in the first place. Hope to see you back soon on some of the other games, assuming they don’t disappear too.
Thanks @desperate-dan. For the time being I’ve borrowed an old iPad, and to start off I’ve downloaded Seasons. Of course, everything is starting from scratch, so I have to work my way through all the games again, unlocking levels as I go. Fortunately today’s challenge is eggsnatchers 1-7, so I’ve already worked through to the level to give it a go. Don’t want to lose too much of my old skill lol!
@peejaydee27 Ohhh Nooo!!? I’ve been in the same boat years ago a few times, but fortunately the apps were still in ‘My Apps’ section of the Google playstore, ago i keep them installed on all my devices, just in case, but it’s inevitable I guess, that’ll all be lost at some point.
There must be Someone, who knows how to install an older version, and i know I’ve years ago about ‘Jailbreaking ‘ a device, no friggin clue what that means though! Even my backups I don’t know how to restore them
I’ll keep my ears open and hopefully someone will come to your rescue!

Thanks for the reply @kathy. For now I’ve borrowed a friend’s old iPad and downloaded Seasons. I have to start over everything from scratch, but at least it’s a start. I have to unlock levels as I go, but I can play today’s challenge, as it’s Eggsnatchers 7-1, so easy to get to level 7 to play. All my originally purchased games are still on the Apple App Store, with the exception of ABO. For now, I’ll just stick with Seasons, until I get my iPad back. There’s worse thing in life!
By the way, has the Nest changed the way walkthrough comments are displayed? I’m no longer seeing any scores next to players names.
@peejaydee27 did you ever back up your device on itunes? I have no idea if that would work, but it would be such a shame if you can’t fling anymore. ?

Thanks for the reply. I’m not that good on technical stuff, but I believe my iPad was backed up to iTunes whenever I connected it to my pc. For now, I’ve borrowed an old iPad and downloaded Seasons. At least it will keep my flinging finger in practice. I’ll check out iTunes when I get my actual iPad back.

Sorry not to have seen this when you posted @peejaydee27 If you are still stuck? you may wish to do this.
1. On your iPad go to the App Store.
2. On the top right touch your id symbol (blue circle with head and shoulders)
3. You will now see “Purchased”. Touch it.
4. No touch “My Purchases”
5. Select “All” and scroll through until you find what you want.
6. If you then sign in to your “Rovio Account” on ABO or the Facebook Account linked to Seasons or Space you will regain all your lost scores>
Hope that’s of help.
@admins A number of members may be in the same position perhaps so there’s a case for making
this available on a search?
@peejaydee I found somewhere that has ABO,Rio, Space, Star Wars and Seasons. As far as I know they are free. Don’t quote me on that thou. It is en.uptodown.com. Type Angrybirds in the search bar and they all show up.

Thanks @steviep147. Sorry for the late reply – I’ve been helping out with a sick close relative, so hardly on the nest this past month. I did get all the games back from my purchases on the App Store, but everything still back at zero. No worries, I’m slowly working my way back through, trying to improve old scores as I go. Frustrating though when I can’t yet match my previous personal best on some levels. Anyway, onwards and upwards!
@admins @sweetp I was disappointed today to see that the Daily Challenge is again Space Mirror Worlds. Only 199 players on The Nest have ever bothered to enter scores for these levels yet the Daily Challenge affords them equal status with the rest. I think we need more mainstream and less tributary!

I think the reason is that Space Mirror Worlds were (by far) the largest and among the last pack of levels tat were released among all the games, hence, for a long time most of them had not appeared on the Challenge.
The good point however is that the competition never was intense on those levels (as compared to Classic Space), so that getting a puppy there is not as difficult as in ABO (I believe).
yeah @steviep147, kind of see where you are coming from but I guess some folk appreciate having a better chance of a puppy. However, is it true that the 199 players have left a far easier target? There are some pretty sharp flingers in there. I suppose my only reservation is that Space is over-represented. Why is Star Wars for example (which I have never played) ignored.
Yes, I second that. I am not a too big Star Wars fan but bringing these episodes back to the Challenge again would ensure a little more variety. They were constant part of the Challenge until about 2 years ago, I have no idea why this was changed.
I also asked about that in October last year. Hopefully they’ll consider reintroducing Star Wars to the challenge again.
Perhaps we could try multiple daily challenges.
@desperate-dan @anton249 @peejaydee27 Star Wars was taken out of the Challenge rotation because we had used up all the levels, so they were all going to be repeat Challenges. That’s why the Mirror Worlds were brought in as separate from other Space levels. But maybe it’s been long enough that they could come back?
I don’t mind the Mirror World Challenges so much, I haven’t had the time to play through all the levels so it’s a chance to make inroads on them. They’re the best place to win a puppy for sure because so few have entered scores. And it’s great to see new strategies discovered on them.

Space Mirror Worlds! Is this really the best you could do on Christmas Day?
@steviep147 Merry Christmas ? I’m so sorry you don’t like Space Mirror levels, we all get the Hint! But It Is part of the rotation and will remain so! I believe a mistake may have been made starting the new rotation a day early but Deep with it! People make mistakes ! It’s not Rocket Scientists running the challenge, just everyday Volunteers trying to keep the Nest running! Be Thankful ?

@steviep Actually over 100 flingers have given Brass Hogs Mirror level 9-2 have given it a fling or two,, There’s nothing “Elitist” about Mirror Worlds, just a Different Episode to try as we All have welcomed Any Episodes /World’s Rovio has decided to throw our way! I’m sure we all started with ABO, sorry that some flingers have gotten so used to the original they haven’t given different worlds a try, I’ve played All but SW2 and have had fun competing against the ‘Elite’ which I think we all are ‘Elite’ in our Favourite World , mine happens to be Space, but I use to enjoy SW so much that count through it 3X lol, But my current favourite is Space Mirror levels

@steviep147, if you don’t like Space Mirror World challenges, you can just wait for the next day’s challenge. No big deal. As a volunteer, I try very hard to keep the Daily Challenge working, which is NOT a piece of cake! During the holidays, there was a glitch on the system that placed two levels on the same day. I didn’t catch it, and so everything got pushed up a day.
Please don’t berate what we do here on the Nest. We’re all volunteering our own personal time when we can. Running a website is not easy (have you tried it? No? Then don’t judge.)

Happy New Year! I can’t believe I’ve been in the nest so long. I’m thankful for the daily challenges, but rarely participate in space levels. I didn’t like them mich, so I didn’t play all of them way back then. I have to say that the little competition we have here is a highlight of some days! I feel I know you all, even though I’m not much of a talker here. Anyway, I hope everyone stays healthy and that 2021 is not as infamous as 2020!

Well, I broke into the top 50 on Rio Beach Volley 14 for the challenge today and I’m currently #3 on the improved list. I’ll take that for the win… lol
I’m getting an error message trying to upload a screen shot of my score for the challenge. The file is 6.6 MB but the error says it’s over 80???
@admins @sweetp for future reference, if you’re on an iPad it looks as though you can’t upload a screenshot directly from your photo library, To get one uploaded I had to open the photo, change the margins just slightly, save the photo, and was then able to upload it.
Is the Underdog badge meant fir getting the top score in the daily challenge?
Hi @jtb. No, it’s not enough to get the highest score of the day on the day of the challenge. You have to beat the EXISTING HIGHEST SCORE for the level, (the score previously achieved by the current trophy holder). It’s displayed in the “Highscore” yellow box at the top of the challenge screen. For example, the score to beat today is 138,730, achieved by the current trophy holder anton249. Sometimes more than one player beats this score, in which case they all get an underdog badge (“puppy”). Once in a while, many players beat the high score, and you’ll see this referred to as a “puppy parade”! Hope this helps, and good luck!!

I got the email notification and I thought someone had beaten the high score on today’s level (Winter Wonderham Golden Egg #41). I was all set to be seriously impressed. As it stands I’m still impressed that anyone can get close to that score. Nicely done to all those who improved on this level today!!
