Cannot get chain to break! Either TNT does not explode or if it does it is hanging on end of chain.
Not sure what you mean Ed. Cutting it with a lightsaber should always drop the TNT.
I think Ed’s situation is this:
In Sal’s video, the small cubes are to be propelled by the top vent into the middle chain, causing it to get loose and fly rightwards. Ed’s problem is that a) the chain doesn’t even get loose or b) the chain does get loose but the TNT won’t go off.
But anyway, even though everything goes with Sal’s video, the usual result is that Anakin ends up crashing into the right TNT, making the right pig hover at the blind spot. Are there any possible alternatives?
There is a sweet spot on the chain – if you aim just a little lower than the highest spot you can hit, the birdy will move slightly up on contact, allowing you to get all the wood with his saber. After that, just repeat until everything falls into place.
@thalen and @amslimfordy, it looks like the poster above, ‘Ed’, doesn’t mean the chains under 1st structure with the pig, those are easy to cut through. I’m pretty sure he means the long chain holding the TNT in the middle. That one is really hard to break with the flying debris going through the top left wind tunnel. It is hit or miss quite a lot. See my post below. Most of the time, if I’m even lucky enough to break all that wood and send the wood and cement blocks through the tunnel, they just jostle the chain and TNT and either nothing happens or the TNT just explodes in the air and doesn’t drop down to the structure below.
The sweet spot is between the second and third chain from the top.
This levels is really tough! Took me 2 birds to get 3 stars after a zillion resets. It is hard to get Luke to take out the top just right. The wood and cement blocks rarely cut the chain holding the TNT – most of the time they just do a dance with the chain and the TNT swings in the breeze or it blows up in the air without causing damage to the structure below. I’ve tried a few swaps but so far no luck. Now that I’m home from work, I’ll try loading some Telepods, Obi-Wan and Vader and see how they do.
Congrats to all who are over 100k so far! Great work!
I’m sorry, but Sal’s one-birder is just too ridiculous for most of us – it is almost impossible for Anakin to cut the rightmost wooden triangle on the top left platform, so the toppling would never happen.
But still, in case your target is only 3 stars, you could still try this:
(It is assumed that the first shot did not touch the right TNT. If so, restart ASAP.)
Take the 2nd shot over the top left platform, and cut off the shelf with the lightsaber. At most two wooden cubes would be propelled by the vent, hit the middle chain, and drop to the middle vent. Most often the cubes would hit the right TNT, making the right pig hover. In that case, restart. (No, that spot is untouchable without a swap.) Repeat until a cube happen to fly up and hit the vertical pole above the TNT (or by a lesser chance the pig itself). Then take out the remaining pig by a direct shot at it, hoping to topple the middle vent and draw some debris to the crystal. This got me 84k.
Yes, it’s very hard (and luck-intensive), but at least it is feasible to 3-star.
May the Force be with you.
I managed a 1 birder quite a few times with score ranging from the low 60Ks to my current top score of just under 93K. I find that breaking the three wooden triangles is repeatable once you find the sweet spot mended above. The easiest way to describe it is aim at the join of the second and third chain link from the top. I get them to all break about 1/4 tries. If you don’t clear the entire level (most times the right hand pig is floating) then direct Luke down into the vent that is now sitting on the platform. He will be redirected upwards and you can usually take out the top TNT, the crystals and the pig. If the first TNT is still hanging then Luke can break the chain (don’t use the light saber as that explodes the TNT rather than dropping it) and still continue on the take out the right floating pig. These will not lead to big scores but will allow three stars.
Can’t believe I got it on the 5th try. Followed the video and , I guess dumb luck too over and it happened. Don’t know what I would do without the nest. Thanks to all for their suggestions and help.
Yes, you must use the pig to push you up that little bit or you won’t get the triangle on the right side and the cubes won’t get blown into the chain. Getting the chain to break by a cement one is pure luck though. TNT explores more often than gets cut down. I managed a 1 bird by timing the release just before the pig is at the bottom to come back up and lift me to get all 3 triangles. Everything else went and I got 102520 for the 1 bird. Took hundreds of tries though for everything to go just right.
Finding the sweet spot on the chain is only 1/2 way to repeatable. The next trick is to time your launch based on the position of the floating pig. The pig will push you up higher when you hit the chain, allowing you to get all 3 blocks. I found that aiming for the sweet spot and shooting when the pig was still going down but almost on his way back up got me to well over 50% repeatability on getting all 3 blocks.
Breaking the long chain to drop the TNT is another problem all together…
@sdultimate, I totally agree with you. I never could get all the triangle blocks if the pig was up. It is almost like he obstructs getting dead center. But if I break the chain while he is in the down position, on his way back up, I can clear all triangle blocks about 90% of the time. I also agree with your last sentence and go one further. A couple times I’ve had the TNT drop but have not yet had it shove the fan to the left causing more damage. As a result, I’m still sitting at 2*s.
Any good swap strategies for this one?
Fling tuskan raider towards same place video shows anikan going. Shoot the left support under the wide platform. With it should end up clearing all but the top left pig. Use anikan to kill last pig. I got 85k with this method.
I just got 102,000 on the fifth try using the video!!!
As Jeff mentions, it is possible to get above 100k using video technique. For me that happened when the right dynamite sent debris up to crystals. I don’t claim any special skills, just luck! Now if someone would just bless me with some better luck for B4-6, that level drives me crazy!
very frustrating! finally a lucky bounce for 3 stars but under average. 1st B, cut thru chains, 2 nd B under platform again to destroy 3 wooden triangles and got good a good combo of stuff blowin thru vent. took FOREVER.NEVER FOUND a sweet spot on those chains…..
Last chance strategy using multiple characters for current high score.
Is there any significance to the word ‘puzzle’ written out on the middle platform in the wood blocks?
Not really. It is just saying that this level is very hard and requires a lot more strategy than skill to beat.
This level is quite annoying, inasmuch as I was able to repeat the video’s technique without too much trouble, and it would consistently clear the pigs with one bird, but it took many, many tries before I was able to get anything over 81k with it. It seems to be essentially luck whether it happens to take out much of the level or not.
For those who have problems to destroy the 4 wooden triangles on the top left platform, try this method: hit the lower left corner of the left vent. The airstream will take Anakin up through the tube and (with some luck) right under the triangles. Anakin’s saber’s still working despite having hit the tube once, and he can destroy the triangles. The rest see above…
One more remark: it’s possible to make the whole ‘Puzzle’ platform tilt to the left by hitting and cutting the left column under it, once you cleared the first platform. Got me 92.710 pts with 2 birds.
Just made a 103.650 pts one-birder!
Method: destroying the wooden support structure on top left platform as described above. The vent sucked in the falling blocks and blew them against the chain. Chain broke and dynamite fell upon the L of ‘Puzzle’. The explosion made the tube on ‘Puzzle’ tilt to the left, so the tube sucked in parts of the U and blew them. on the crystal. I don’t know at which point of this chain reaction the right pig got killed.
