The latest update to the original Angry Birds Seasons (v1.5.0) is now available for iOS devices and Android via the Android Marketplace and Amazon AppStore. More platforms will be coming online soon. This update includes a the summer themed episode named Summer Pignic (links to trailer).
Notes:
- Summer Pignic 3 star and Golden Egg walkthroughs are coming online!
- You MUST BE CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET THE FIRST TIME YOU OPEN A LEVEL (only the first time) so that it can download the level file and check the date (this prevents early access).
- AMslimfordy noticed that there might be a bug in the cumulative score counter that you see at the top of the screen when you pass a level. It seems to be pulling your score from Trick or Treat, not Summer Pignic. If you notice your score counter going up and up and up after you pass a level this is why. Just give it a minute and it will finish. I imagine Rovio will fix this bug.
From what we know this update includes:
- 30 new levels with ONE NEW LEVEL UNLOCKED EVERY DAY (remember Seasons Greedings?)!
- 5 new achievements
- More Golden Eggs to be found (click for their locations and walkthroughs)
- A “Big Basket” bonus level that is unlocked when you 3 star every level
- Pig clouds (not really a feature, but I thought it was a cool touch)
- The Golden Egg numbering discrepancy between the iPhone and iPad has been fixed.

One level a day?!? Not cool.
I don’t agree. I think this is refreshing on occasion. Seasons Greedings was great fun, as everyone would compete each day to see who could do the best while sharing their strategies.
I agree completely. It was really fun to concentrate on one level at a time and then get a nice gift of a new level each morning.
Yes, I like it too because then, by the time the last level comes, all of the other levels will be worked on and three starred. Also, it stretches the experience. So, yeah…
it’s great to hv one level a day so that we all hv sthg to look forward to … 1-1 is not that difficult …. got 3 stars the first time … and then got higher score everytime i played again … heheh …. now 124,950

We’re adding that in the post. As with Seasons Greedings, you MUST be on Internet the first time you play the game. The game uses the internet to get your official time, and then holds that as the counter to open all future levels.
Actually I updated much earlier then everyone else because I did it while everyone was asleep. So the next level will unlock in 11 hours. :) I will email you a screen shot bird leader. Your welcome

I think the 1 level per day is great. It makes for a good head to head contest at work!!!

yeah I like it, cause it’s more fun everyday, plus then you work a little harder at getting a better score on that one daily level.
But after you’re done you have nothing for 24 hours.
Not really. A lot of us like to improve our scores and this takes the pressure of that quest a bit. If you check out the individual walkthroughs people will typically provide highscore strategies you can try. It’s fun.
The levels cant unlock without inernet.
What Happened?
At the very least, an Internet connection is required for Day 1. We have yet to see if an Internet connection is required for all days. Still 2 1/2 hrs from the Day 2 release.
Some of us have things called lives. Just saying….
Look, Rovio will put the game out how they see fit. Once people have paid the initial and insignificant fee for the game then the free updates are a bonus. People will always complain that they aren’t getting everything they want, when they want it. It’s a fact of life that people are greedy.
I like the 1 level a day format for the reasons stated by others. A new level every morning, a chance to work on our scores and the fun we have posting on here.
You’re not living in Europe then. At 10am, morning is almost over. :-(
The update is 8am UTC around the globe. Frankly, east coast of North America got the worst of the deal. That’s 4am EDT, so I’m always a bit behind.

Can’t say for certain about Android Market, especially since it’s unclear what the contract with Amazon says at this point. The Mine and Dine update hit Market before Android, so it’s a tossup. But I would imagine Amazon should get it today. Again, Market… who knows, but when it hits, it will tell us alot.
Sorry, we were a little surprised that it came out this early on iOS so were not really sure, but we kinda think, anytime now.
As of this post, the update had yet to show up on Amazon or Android Market. Hope it happens quickly, as I’m getting envious of you iOS types…
I just got the update for Summer Pignic today on andriod.
It has hit the Android Market before the Amazon Appstore. Gotta be a first! However, I think I’ll wait for it to hit Amazon, as is definitely worth the 99 cents not to be bothered by annoying ads while trying to concentrate on the really important stuff! :-)

Ya. I don’t think it’s midnight for everyone though. On my iPod it seems like the 1-2 will be out around 3am. Its ok though. As long as a new one comes out each day I’m cool!

Yes, Levels become available at 8am UTC, so everyone in the world gets levels at the exact same time.
Yes, at the same time, but not at the same time. Some get it at 10am and some at 10pm. Is this fair?
Better than some players getting the levels before others. This way, everyone gets it at the exact same moment. I think that’s as fair as you can get.
Mariano, try to turn off your phone all the way, then turn it back on. I also have a problem! After I beat the first level the score thing at the top wouldn’t stop! It kept adding points and never stopped until I turned my phone off. I’m gonna try again. Hopefuly it doesn’t mess up this time.
The score will stop once it reaches your Trick or Treat total. Clearly a bug. Expect Seasons v1.6.1 soon to fix this.
You don’t have to wait for the score to stop or turn your phone off, just exit the level. It won’t mess up your score.
Is this game for PC too (they said “Mac&Pc too” in the trailer)

I hate one level a day. Period…
Rovio cant win no matter what they do with customers like you. When they release all the levels, you finish them in 1-2 days and come back crying that you want more levels. When they try to stretch it out and make it more of an “event theme”, you come crying about how long it will take to finish the set. You guys realize these are “FREE” updates?!?

i like the one a day thing, but i have an ipod and no wifi. does that mean i have to wait till the next time i go to mcdonalds to play?! are you kidding me? date and time is set up on our ipods so why can’t the app just use that??? so troublesome…

The Internet ensures that users don’t change the date/time on their device to cheat the system.

I believe all levels update at 8am UTC. That’s 4am on the east coast of the US and 1am on the west.

im having a problem with this update. It update just fine but when i go to open up level one of summer pignics the angry bird game closes. What could help me on this?
Connect to the internet or wi-fi. I was having the same problem until I did that.
how can i do that when i have it on my android phone the mytouch 3g slide phone. i didnt even have to dat with the season greedings
I’m having the same problem – same phone. The game opens, I select Summer Pignics, select level 1 and then it crashes and takes me back to my main phone menu…. I was really looking forward to this game!!!
Reboot your phone then try again.
If your game is crashing when you are selecting Day #, then the problem is that you MUST be connected to Internet (WiFi or 3G) to unlock the level.
Hey has the golden egg numbering been fixed?
Cause on my end I just saw that the golden egg number for the seasons greedings golden egg is now 2 instead of 1.

someone told me that the webos people who run it QUIT their jobs so palm.Users don’t get updates yeah I still don’t have the may update for rio soo palm people stink.
I heard that Rovio was re-vamping their webOS tech and that the May Rio update had been submitted over a week ago.
I’m unable to update I keep getting a package is not signed error. I’ve rebooted my android and the update still fails to install.
I haven’t heard this from any of the Android users here. Some have said they have issues opening the first level, but we think the fix for that is just restart and connect to internet.

Rovio only shows about 1 picture per update. And that pic is one of the cards.

Try canceling your download and download again. I used to have that problem all the time on my G1.
Yesterday I already got the Picnic Pooper achievement, and now I also have the Oops a Daisy achievement. I’m waiting for level 2 now (will be available in 34 minutes).

The next level is not available before 10am here in Germany
neither here, in Finland. i think they use the Finnish time zone. remember that (for example) in america, the levels unlock at night/evening…
