Happy World Circus Day everyone! New Info about the Forthcoming Angry Birds Seasons Update!
To celebrate this awesome day Rovio shared the image above on their Facebook page. Well, this image definitely takes some of the mystery out of what the theme of the next Angry Birds Seasons episode will be. Grab your tickets and antihistamine! It looks like the circus is coming to town. At this time we don’t know what to expect from the actual gameplay, but we will know soon enough.
Fun fact! If you look closely at the top of the big top their is a mustache pig suspended by a bunch of balloons. What a cruel prank.
Update May 3rd: Portals!
Rovio has released a “live trailer”, if you want to call it that, of the forthcoming update. As many suspected, this episode will include portals! In fact, a little additional information from Rovio to us: “Anything can go through portals. Blocks, birds, pigs… ;)”. Be sure to check out the Vine video below, and keep your eyes peeled for this update!

It’s a happy day here at The Nest! As some of you may know, Angry Birds Seasons is hands down, no questions asked, unequivocally my favorite app in the Angry Birds franchise. From the different and unique themes, to the “Pro Tip” bonus items, it’s just fantastic.
Long story short, Rovio knew that we us here at the Nest have been chomping at the bit for information about the next episode in Angry Birds Seasons (it’s been awhile!). They have said on Twitter that a new episode is coming, but they haven’t given any details.
Until now…
Spring is in the Air
The next update for Angry Birds Seasons (Episode 16) will be a springtime episode, and is expected to be extremely festive. (Sorry to those of you in the southern hemisphere, but perhaps you can think fondly of this past Spring and all the fun times you had.) Also, according to Rovio, there will be some “pretty interesting trick shots” in this episode as well.
So what do we think? Hard to say, but before we wager any guesses we should first take a good look at the image at the top of this post. It was created exclusively for the Nest by Rovio (thanks!) as way of giving us a clue or two about what is to come. What do you see?
It seems like the general theme will focus around those oh-so-pleasant spring nights. Based on the astronomy calendar, it looks like April and May will be pretty busy in the night sky. Items of interest include Astronomy Day (April 20th), two meteor showers (April 21st / 22nd and May 4th / 5th), a partial lunar eclipse (April 25th), and an annular solar eclipse (May 10th).
So, a nighttime spring theme is one guess, but why does it look like the text is getting pulled into a ginormous black hole? Will the birds be sucked in and transported to another dimension? Also, notice how the image is also washed out / heavily saturated. This is not the typical Rovio style. Maybe it was done that way on purpose, or maybe not. Either way, my head is spinning as to the possibilities.
Lastly, we also shouldn’t forget about Summer Pignic. It obviously had a warm summer theme and contained lots of outlandish levels (though I don’t recall any black holes). It was “advent calendar”-style though, so maybe the forthcoming update will be similar.
“A New Hope” for Power-Ups
Pardon my weak Star Wars joke, as by no means am I trying to diminish the significance of this. Perhaps I have a soft spot for wanting the episode to be more important.
Despite the Game Center restrictions on the number of allowable leaderboards, Angry Birds Seasons will now include the long-awaited, long-sought-after visual distinction between Power Up scores and “clean” scores. This distinction, according to Rovio, will mimic the style in Angry Birds Space.
I know some users will be excited, others may be skeptical. But, assuming the system works like the one in Space, I think all users should be happy with the end result. Let’s also add that, so long as people don’t go around bashing Rovio with “Why can’t you do this in the others?!”, I think we can expect to see the system rolled out to the other versions in due time.

Big Smile on my face, clues!! and a image to try and get clues from, thanks Rovio for making this possible for us at the Nest. My mind is wondering of to a world where the birds get sucked in a vortex and land in a sketch like alternate reality. Not sure if I would like the graphic to look that way, but it does sound we are in for a great new update. I for one can’t wait for Spring and certainly now that the Power Ups are going to be a visual distinction in the next update. Feels good to know that al though the Power Ups are still not my thing, I am glad Rovio is doing everything they can to keep the hardcore fans happy and give us this.
And I so totally agree that Seasons is the best of all ABs! My head is spinning as well, gonna love seeing the guesses pop in!
Maybe it is a space episode and advertises for Angry Birds Space. Like in Angry Birds when they did the Bad Piggies episode.

I really don’t care what season it is! Angry Birds are always welcome!!! As far as the power up news goes…YAHOOO!!! THis is what I have been hoping for since they first showed up in ABO!
Hopefully, the method of displaying distinct scores for PU usage will filter through all the other apps. This will, I think, eventually mean that PU’s can’t be disabled in those apps where it can be done. Also, will this mean that we might be competing (eventually) on PU leaderboards here at the Nest?
@TruckDriver We have discussed a few ways that we might implement Power Up scores on our leaderboards, but for now, it’s far easier on us to “Just Say No”. Once all relevant apps have distinction, we will likely re-ponder this question.

Honestly, the last Seasons update really ruined it for me.
a) Power ups. Duh.
b) They totally ruined the Winter Wonderham background.
c) The location of the new bonus levels is really ugly.
Sorry to sound so pessimistic, but I hope this one’s a lot better.
This reminds of Angry Birds Seasons Summer Pignic Level 1-17. I have been thinking about that the level for the longest. I thought it was a “Space” teaser. But I believe the new Season will somehow resemble that one particular Summer Pignic level. I could be wrong, but I guess we will have to wait and see! ;D

This is what I thought, as well. I hope it’s just a night-time theme, though, because I find the reduced gravity frustrating.
Rovio must love teasing people with all these new updates they’ve been releasing lately. The new update for Seasons is great but would it kill them to actually update Seasons Free so that they could show the AB Toons on there as well?? And waiting for AB Friends on iOS & Android is just murder…. MOIDA I TELLS YA!!!!!
This teaser picture looks awesome! Cant believe Rovio actually made an image specifically for the Nest – pretty cool! As for the season, I had a feeling it might be Spring related, keeping in mind they’ve never done an Autumn and Spring season.. And it looks to me like a BIG 30 level update – not a 15 level one. Might be an advent calender styled one but seems unlikely to me, cuz we just had WW of that style.
Only thing is, looking at the image, I don’t see the connection between Spring and the black hole thingy. Guess we’ll find out tomorrow ;)
Doesn’t the US get tornados around this time of year? Not sure as I’m in Australia but I don’t think it’s a ‘black hole’ in the pic but a tornado & the effect in the game will be similar to the steam spouts in AB Star Wars where you’ll fly into it & then get a trajectory from there?? Just an idea….and agree with @trainman2012, waiting for AB Friends on IOS has been murder lol!! Let’s hope an update, ANY update, arrives soon!!!

hope they release an ad free version, because in its current state its almost unplayable on android with ads after every 2nd game. i know you can just disable data however that’s an inconvenience!
Just play it in airplane mode/disconnect from internet if you don’t want ads popping up.
You guys deserved this exclusive and special treatment from Rovio, congratulations to all team. As for me, like vaste majority of ABN members distinguishing between power ups scores and “clean” ones make me happy and finally satisfied. I can’t wait to see new update and It would be great if it was in “advent calendar” style as I love that concept.

I think/hope this will be tomorrow since it is a Thursday, and it seems like an exclusive reveal wouldn’t be let out this early. But that’s just me.
I am in the middle of flinging birds in Seasons trying to improve scores and techniques. Doing it a second time has provided a great appreciation of the diversity of each game. What ever the update brings it does bring “Spring” (i.e. new beginnings) to the game that we all still enjoy to play. The creativity of the minds at Rovio still amazes all so we have to anticipate and wait with excitement for the release of the new and exciting levels.
Is it really going to come out this Thurs? Can’t wait to see PU vs. non-PU scores implemented. Don’t care what season / format the update is, expect it to be great.
There is no evidence that it will come tomorrow. We’re just reporting the news that Rovio has graciously forwarded to us. I expect it will be a week or two before we see it.
I would expect to get Angry Birds Friends on iOS first
@lostgreybird, yeah, me too. I assume that AB Friends Mobile would come out on Monday, once it come out at all. Keep my fingers crossed for next week.
Maybe from now on we’ll see 4 Updates for ABS, one for each Season:
Autumn(Halloween), Winter(Xmas), Spring, Summer
Trick shots??? Guarantee we will be able to shoot the birds into vortexes or black holes and have them continue out through another one in the level. Very similar to the physics/approach in the game Portal.
That was great of Rovio to design a graphic just for the nest! It will be fun to see what this update is like. I love it when they give hints!
I’m glad power ups will be separated too. I also wish they could be removed from our screens, they are always in the way, and it’s hard to hit the ME when he’s all mixed in with those other buttons.
I completely lost all my old scores, and had to start every version from scratch. While it’s nice to replay AB, it’s always fun to have new levels!
Hmm. Summer Pignic didn’t have any black hole- or vortex-themed levels, but it did have that level on the moon. So maybe this update will be a springtime meteor shower theme?
Also, YAY for powerup distinctions!! I’ll be using powerups in Seasons a lot more often after this update!
It may be collateral to summer pignic, but more of a spring-like rather than summer, with a captivating back ground and/or new parallaxes. It would indubitably be wonderful to see black holes, meteors etc. Maybe the trick shots are through the vortexes?
Also good to know about PU distinctions. I’m slightly impatient to receive this update.
If it where to follow the calendar style where a level is unlocked each day, this update is ‘ought to be released on 1st of May.
Yeah! AB seasons is my favorite AB app. But I can’t understand what are “pretty interesting trick shots”. May be new bird with some tricky moves or something ? but I have no guesses about The Theme .
YAY! I really hope that they’ll launch it for PC at the same time! Seasons is definately my favorite. I’ve always liked the graphics in all the games, but in Seasons the graphics are even greater. And I love all those different themes. I can’t wait to see what will this update be! :D
These tricks shots could include birds going through these black holes/vortrexes/portals and coming out from the other end while maintaining speed and things like that.. Just my guess!
Hmm, I see a portal since it’s white and wondering if we’ll get a choice to play the levels “at night” or “during daytime” – being able to switch back and forth. Maybe daytime reveals where targets are but shots to be played in the dark. The gold lettering has to be significant too…. maybe the gold is the sun…land of the midnight sun??…. I very much like the idea of trick shots.
Re the PUPs, I’m glad there’ll be distinctions and still hope if PUP scores are to be allowed here down the track that they’ll be on their own leaderboards.
The vortex makes me think of the opening story to AB Space. It would be really interesting if they finished that storyline in Seasons..

What for? The second score with 0 points below the normal score looks so ugly. (I’m talking about AB Space.)
And also the lightning sign on levels on which you trued a PU is annoying.
I’m a good player, I don’t need PUs, I don’t need a secont leaderboard.
And also bad players who need PUs, why should it be fun for them to have their PU scores seperately? Then they have to pass the level again without PUs anyway in order to improve their score.
Since neither good nor bad players need a seperate leaderboard, I don’t know why it should be such a good idea.
@Chriss if the scores are logged separately — like they are in Space — then you don’t have to beat your PU score to log a “clean” score.
That’s not what I meant, Slim. If someone uses power ups in maybe 5 or 6 difficult levels, these scores are seperately and don’t count towards the normal total score. To improve your total score, you have to beat the levels again without power-ups.
This means that a seperate leaderboard is even more useless than the power-ups.
I think that is what makes the system work best. Using Power Ups will help you beat a level if you’re stuck, but won’t help your normal Total Score.
Why does everybody think that it’s going in to the vortex? It could be coming out of the vortex instead! Maybe some outlandish object, or the Angry Birds Space characters, will come out of the vortex and land in Seasons.
If so, then this update will be amazing! Do you saw the AB Space trailer? In trailer the ICE BIRD come out of “SPIRAL CLOUDS”(just like above image)and then all others birds went through “SPIRAL CLOUDS” to enter THE SPACE.
