In support of (RED)’s fight against AIDS Rovio has released a special Angry Birds update that is available now for iOS. We are not sure about availability on other platforms, so please leave a comment if you see the update land on your platform.
Crashing Update: v4.3.2 has landed for iOS and should help most users with their crashing issues.
This update includes:
- The description in iTunes states that this update will only be available for a limited time. We are not exactly sure how this will play out.
- Golden Egg Level – Okay, this is great, but the new RED Golden Egg level is #16, and all the previous Golden Eggs greater than 16 are now incremented by one. We are in touch with Rovio to see if this can be adjusted so as not confuse people. Our Complete Golden Eggs guide is always available if you need help.
- POWER(RED) UP! Get the Red’s Mighty Feathers power-up and use it in any level. All proceeds go to (RED)’s fight against AIDS.
- We have walkthroughs for every level, so be sure to check them out if you’re stuck.
Experienced crashing? We’ve had a few reports of users with unplayable apps after updating. Be sure to check out our Ultimate Backup Tutorial before taking any drastic measures, such as uninstalling.
In addition to Angry Birds, I also noticed that Clash of Clans received a (RED) update. I imagine there are a bunch of others as well. If you have a complete list please leave a comment.

bug fix update just released
OK, so what I see is that there is one new golden egg level, and if you buy “red’s mighty feathers” you get to use that power up in any level. I guess since we don’t allow any power-ups on the leaderboard, that should be OK. Might have screwed up one of my high scores figuring this out; not sure which one.
On a completely unrelated note, I think I might’ve found a bug in ABO. I was on a level in Ham ’em High, and I used a shockwave Bomb when I ran out of birds. Then something weird happened; instead of disintegrating into thin air as usual, Matilda hopped back into the slingshot after I flung Bomb, and I was given the allowance to use her again.
I don’t know what’s more unsettling-the fact that Matilda was reanimated from the dead, of the fact that I beat the level with the ‘undead’ bird…
@abmaster2, would you please post this possible glitch on our Bugs, Glitches, and Issues Forum page? That way we can keep track of this and see if anyone else has this problem so we could report it to Rovio.
so mainly other than the Golden Egg, there is just the option to use Red’s Feather in all levels if we buy it, right?
Is there any mention of where this will appear? Seasons, Red’s Mighty Feathers,…..just really curious!!! Nothing on Android as of this post!

@terribletom, the title of this post says “Angry Birds Original Update Now On iOS…” and the episode is Red’s Mighty Feathers . However, you’re gonna have to wait since you play on an Android device.

On an iPhone 4 w/ iOS 7.1, the newest 4.3.1 update has broken the game. Every time I try to launch it, the game crashes to the springboard after showing the loading splash screen.

Me too! Cannot play at all now, and I’ve been pouring lots of time and effort into playing catch-up. A little afraid to attempt a restore, so I guess I’m stuck waiting for Rovio to issue a fix? If they don’t, I’m going to be really upset!
Yay, I was able to get rid of the infernal update and restore my game to its former glory. I’m happy. Now here’s hoping for a fixed version soon.
Backup your data before uninstalling and reinstalling the app.

Updated and now crashes, Can’t play ABO at all.
Haven’t played it yet (and won’t in the foreseeable future) but on my ipad i have both the standard and the HD version of Angry Birds installed. It used to be the case that one could distinguish (upon selection) between both versions, by the latter carrying HD in its icon. Not so anymore it seems; I now have two icons looking exactly the same (or do I miss something). Confusing.
I’ve been getting the crashes, too. What’s strange is that doing a clean install, app runs properly. But after putting the backup files, app still crashes. Rovio should do something about this so as one high scores don’t go to waste. Using iOS 5.1.1 on iPod Touch 3G.

The ‘Product RED’ update is not just for Angry Birds, but it has updates in other games. The objective is donation for Product RED, and it’s announcer was Apple Inc. So, don’t ask again that it will be released on other platforms or not.

Ya, Apple also updated garage band with a limited time thing, which you can use forever after purchasing. I assumed this was only apple.
After this update my golden eggs are totally messed up. I used to have them all. Now it says only 27 and for some you can see the stars where eggs used to be but no eggs. Some the eggs are a light grey with a star on top. Some Are yellow eggs with no star as if not played!! I can’t get the new egg. Anyone else showing same? WTH??
I have exactly the same issue. I’m hoping an update will fix it, as I had good scores for every egg, which I’d prefer not to have to somehow reactivate and redo each of the now missing eggs.
All my eggs are gone to. I’m having to go back and get them all again.
Just found out that when I go back and get the golden eggs, they show up on the golden eggs screen as starred and my scores are there….
@betrayed2010 – I seem to be having the same issue. However on eggs 26 and 31 my scores are zero. Did you get all your scores back?
I’ve been getting that, too, after the crash from 4.3.1 + backup and restore, and even after the update to 4.3.2. Here’s a screenshot of it.
Wow, I’m having zero luck with this “Red” update. My AB crashed with the original update, but the bug fixing app update worked a few days later to fix that issue. But now, like you guys, my Golden Eggs are gone, well most of them. I’ve gone back and accessed a couple but they coming up with no score.
Not as bad as losing a whole series, but like gavza, had some decent scores and a bit annoyed I have to start over.
Or perhaps I’ll wait for a second bug fixing update.
The egg level is not easy. I was not able to get the far right TNT which makes one’s life simpler to clean everything. 388500 so far.
I don’t have a complete list but as of now Cut the Rope 2 also received a RED update.
Any suggestions or strategies on getting all the pigs? Am having a good challenge after all the tnt are activated on killing the remaining lower pigs. Seems that the Red Birds are not too effective in destroying the structure.

I got a one-birder after maybe 30 minutes of trying (408k). I aimed at the central top TNT, which, when exploding sent a pig on the far right one (I have to check whether it was a lucky fluke or a matter of good timing). It was my only one-birder and my only time I had gotten this TNT. So maybe the key is there.
3-bird strategy which gave 395k:
First bird at the big pig top left. Second bird high, timed so that it bounced on top the top left TNT and then on to the top middle TNT. This brought almost everything down except a small bit lower right. Third bird to clear the remaining bit.
No android update as of 6:30 am eastern
The game does not crash, but it does not connect with the store so I can’t buy Red’s Mighty Feather for support and donation… (iPhone 5, iOS 8.1)
Other games are also taking part in finding a cure for AIDS such as Clash of Clans and Cut the Rope 2

Since this level will not be included in the android version, can i request that it also not be included in the leaderboards (just like the androis only intel levels in seasons awhile back)

I’m another that has the crashing issue. I’m a bit hesitant to uninstall and reinstall even with the excellent tutorial on here.
I don’t trust myself after making an error and losing all my AB Seasons after I had the same issue with Arctic Eggspedition.
I think I’ll wait for a ‘bug fixing’ update from Rovio.

Isn’t the easiest solution to this crash problem that Rovio simply say that the app doesn’t work unless you have the latest iOS installed. How many reports do you have with iOS8.x?
The pattern I see here in this thread, FB and on my family’s devices is that if you’re updated it’s no problem but with old iOS it’s a hassle to get it to work. How likely is it that they’ll solve this small problem now as they so clearly joined forces with Apple.
@ernor63 Quite high. We are working with them regarding several bugs, and we are hoping for another update landing for their anniversary in December. So the bugs need to be repaired, likely in that update.
Hint em’ that it would be better if they TDD before launch next time. The problem isn’t small as you state in the post it’s quite huge.Personally I can manage as I have back-ups old IPA-files and different devices to fall back on on but those who haven’t are frustrated and left in the dark for a week.
I was kind of hoping that the in-app purchase made it so that Red has his power permanently in all levels…
Loaded the update to angrybirds red and it won’t open , I have most likley lost 4 years of scores , not happy if I have to uninstall I won’t play again .

I don’t have another iOS device to transfer my data. So what would you recommend then? Would you say I have to buy another iPhone or iPad to keep my game progress? Seems like another “easter egg” from Apple to me….
You don’t need another device. Using our guide, you can backup your data and attempt a clean install.
Press “buy save lives” there is 3 more level.

Yes there are 3 new levels, but the stars don’t count.

Also, I think Rovio solved a bug I had sometimes, in which when connected to the Internet, my Golden Eggs were there, but offline, there weren’t! Now I have the 32, thank God!
And, Apple and (RED) had updated many apps and, when purchased or making an IAP, the 100% will go to (RED)! Inc(RED)ible!

Well, I was saying I’m NOT experiencing crashing, luckily. The game runs perfectly on mi iPod touch 5 iOS 8.1.1 :O And the bug was from the past update.
I hesitate to update even though i have the most recent *.lua files copies saved to my comp I9d be very upset if I experienced crashes. I read dozens update reviews in iTunes appstore reporting game crashes. Luckily that I first heard this from ABN members so i postponed update until fix come…

Load the Red update on my IOS 6.1 system. Now it will load to the HD splash page and then it crashes. I can’t access Red or any of my old Angry Bird HD games. So disappointed.
