The latest Angry Birds update has been submitted to Apple and should be available any day. Below is our first glimpse at the new episode called Mine And Dine, which takes the birds down into the dark, damp underbelly of the Angry Birds World! Looks awesome!
Quick update, Rovio has confirmed that this update will contain 15 new levels with more “Coming Soon”.

If they haven’t, it will likely be soon. Usually requires a little extra coding to release to Mac/PC.

There has been 1 golden egg per world, with 3 exceptions. There are none in world 3 or world 7; two in world 13 (level 10 and Rio in level 12). So I think we’ll see again see one golden egg per world released.
The new egg is at 0:24 to the far right. It’s the diamond in the wooden box.

I was thinking that too, though as far as I can remember the Beach Volley achievements didn’t show up in Game Center ahead of the latest Rio release. I guess we’ll see.
well, i tried the trick i discovered with Rio when the new levels werent being sent to us…and for some reason this time, when i re-downloaded AB original, all of my progress was gone…. anyone know of anything i can do to get it back? ive lost the whole game and i was 100% complete with everything, three stars, eggs, etc.
You can restore if you are using iOS, but I think FujiToast knows more about this than me.

Hey Adam, Yeah I would try the whole phone restore in iTunes and see if you get it back. What Rio trick are you referring too though?
Wait, You didn’t delete Angry Birds off your phone at any point did you? If so you are going to have to try restoring the phone/device to the backup when you last had ABOriginal installed.
WARNING! Though if you do this you will most likely lose your progress in the other games you were playing after this backup file was made. So, If you want to keep the progress in those games but still restore from an old backup you’re going to want to use a program like PhoneView to grab and backup your .lua score files BEFORE you run the restore. You may lose some eggs or special levels but it’s better than lose all your level progress.

FujiToast, I’m having a similar problem. Angry Birds Original won’t open on my ipod touch, the screen goes black for a while then returns to my home screen. Do you know if this is a common bug that will be fixed in the Mine & Dine update or will it be stuck like this for me? My most recent backup was made a while ago so I don’t want to lose my progress (3 stars and feathers for every level). If the M&D update doesn’t fix, how do I go about using the .lua files you’ve mentioned above in a new version of ABO. I seem to remember a video by scarbzscope about something similar? Sorry about the long message, I just don’t want to lose all the progress I have made if it can be avoided – I won’t get all those hours of my life back! Thanks.
It SOUNDS like more of a phone problem than a game problem. What generation iPod Touch are you on? If are on a 3rd or 4th Gen kill all of your running apps out of your multitask bar and then do a soft reset (hold the home and sleep button until you see the apple logo). Then try again. This might fix it without you having to do more. Though getting another copy of your .lua file would still be a good thing and you can still do this even if your device isn’t loading ABOriginal. Use the link below to follow the video and backup your file. Let me know how it goes for you!
Angry Birds Score File Tranfer
I’ve run out of space to reply below.soft reset seemed to work a bit but still won’t open evry time and it is very laggy. I’ve copied the score and settings .lua files. Should it now be a case of replacing them in a new copy of angry birds original if the next update doesn’t fix this problem? Btw I’m on a 2nd gen iPod touch with ios4 software. Also is there another part of the forum I should be writing this? I looked in the forum titles but couldn’t see anything that might be the right place. Thanks
@neilarmet, unfortunately, I think most of this has to do with the age of your device. A second gen iPod Touch is a hardware equivalent to an iPhone 3G and I know a few people with 3Gs that are really having a hard time keeping their phone usable. I don’t know how much free space you have on your device but it actually can be helpful to reduce the amount of stuff on it and get some good breathing room for processing. You might find that to help quite a bit.
As far as your backup file, just hold on to it and lets see how the next update treats you. I’m still pretty convinced the problem is hardware related and not software so my guess is the the next update probably won’t do much to help you, but who knows maybe they’ll through in a performance enhancement as well.

I would hope so, but I can’t say for sure. The PC version is still one version behind (it’s still on v1.5.1), so hopefully the next update will just skip past v1.5.3.
I hope so, too. My android versions of rio and original ab were corrupted countless times. I finally purchased them for my netbook. So far Seasons is hanging in there, but I will purchase it for my compuuter when it is available. I can’t wait for the Angry Birds sync- too many hours spent trying to re do all of my progress.

It’s a shame that they didn’t update the visuals of the birds and pigs to the Google Chrome/Rio version. Maybe I’ll have to just mod the PC version to change the graphics of the Birds.

AB updates take longer. Rovio has to send to EA/Chillingo first for their approval, then it goes to Apple. Seasons and Rio were published by Rovio alone, so those go straight to Apple.

i noticed that the achievement wild pork hickok’s back round is not bronze anymore.instead it’s white. i know this is a stupid question but why is it white.

Possibly still at Chillingo. Rovio doesn’t get any new information after they release the update. Just have to wait. Probably the start of next week since app stores are usually closed on weekends.
What does chillingo (and apple) do with the app before sending it on to the app store?
I am not 100% sure, but I’m sure Apple QA’s it to make sure everything works and probably runs the source code through some type of debugger to make sure there are no bugs or nonconforming code. The same is likely not true for Chillingo. They probably spend some time getting graphics, achievements, and leaderboards set up in Crystal.

It’s been a week and I’m getting bored waiting for this update. Did you know I did some research on Google and found that Angry Birds Magic is coming soon for Nokia. You tap two devices together to unlock the first five levels and repeat it to unlock the next five levels. Search angry birds magic on google to watch a 0:35 video on how it works. I don’t know if it is coming for other devices or not.

I have no issues with it. We were expecting more but 15 is the norm for over a year now.
Very true, In the beginning they would wait quite a while to do a release and then it would be a big one, But now they typically wait a slightly shorter time and release levels in spurts. Also they now have 3 Versions of the game PLUS a multitude of platforms so I think we still see more of our feathered friends.

We know the next update to Seasons is coming the end of this month or beginning of July. (The theme has still been kept sort of secret, but we expect a general Summer theme, perhaps around Juhannus.) After that, we still haven’t heard much.
I drew level 1 of mine and dine and my grandmother sent it in (it’s like ethans level). She sent in a new bird as well, “weezy”. Weezy’s power, tap the screen and he goes up and down in a zig-zag.

Every time I see an update available I get all excited that it might be the Angry Birds update….but it never is.
Know the feeling! It has been submitted to apple since June 1. This is getting a bit ridiculous now. I have been checking for updates 10 – 20 times a day for two weeks now. It looks like a great update…birds in mines…can’t wait to play!
I only check in the morning cuz i dont think they would release it in the middle of the day…would they???????
It is released whenever Apple (or whatever AppStore) finishes its QA on the app. In fact, the Carnival update for iOS was released around 6 or 7pm ET if I remember correctly.
Apple seems to be holding Mine and Dine hostage! Updates can come out at anytime day or night.

I have noticed there are No new achievements in AB original for Mine and Dine. There are still only 52. They usually put the new ones in before the update. Interesting!
The last few updates, achievements have only updated an hour or so in advance.

Sooooo the update does not work on my device. Goes through the ClickGamer and Rovio screens, then the AB loading screen (incl. logging me into Game Centre) but then it remains forever on the loading screen…
Have tried restarting my device and re-installing the app… Does anyone have any other solutions?
This is the first app I’ve ever had not work from the App Store over the past several years… Surprised that such a high profile release could get through the testing phase while being so defective. Any help is much appreciated, thanks in advance.

I was having the same problem too. I was feeling sad because I was looking forward to playing the new levels. So I just switched to airplane mode and I left the loading screen on. After maybe 3-4 minutes, I was in.
Same issue! Urgh this is very frustrating! Tried airplane mode and it’s not working after 10 minutes now… Isn’t Rovio supposed to have a lot of experience by now, rather than making an update that doesn’t work? :/ Laaaame.
i am having the same issue. It’s maddening. Been waiting forever, only to find that it isn’t working!
Reset my device and it worked. It stayed on the loading screen for a couple minutes, but then it came up. Thank goodness. I was worried.
I got mine to work using the airplane mode fix Samer cites above.
