The best strategy for Danger Above level 6-9 is to lob a Yellow bird and speed boost through the two horizontal wooden planks above the herd of pigs. While the results vary a bit, a few attempts at this method will eventually yield very high scores. The score in the video below is 109,620.
Version 2022:
I’m astonished that no one has commented on a possible zero-bird solution. The structure will frequently collapse on its own albeit more slowly than other zero-bird games. I attempted an abbreviated examination by starting the game and watching the two vertical wooden beams immediately beneath the boxes of TNT; these beams will frequently ‘pinch together’ like chopsticks as the structure settles which is a good but not always conclusive indicator of impending collapse. I restarted the game waiting several seconds — about 10 — since collapse takes place very slowly compared to other zero-bird games, and recorded 11 collapses in 925 attempts for an average of 84 tries for each collapse. Truth-in-Lending: none of these collapses killed all pigs. Moreover, the resulting residue did not allow for a good 1st shot to eliminate what survived. I continued this approach without recording any data and finally achieved a zero-bird solution but the score was well below the posted high score — 107200. I have a screen-shot of the score showing all three birds at the launch site. I just don’t know how to upload.
Refinement of suggested stratedgy, i.e., the video I did notice that your chances for a higher score improve if you wait for the structure to settle and only launch the 1st bird if the two vertical beams do NOT pinch together but remain parallel instead. If the beams do pinch together, the boxes of TNT fall and detonate without separating from one another. If the beams remain parallel and you launch the 1st bird as in the video, the boxes of TNT are more likely to separate. When the TNT detonates after dispersing, destruction is greater.
Thanks for the detailed description. The total collapse is listed in the forum topic “Self-Destroying and Unstable Levels.” You may not know that walkthroughs for these original ABO levels were recorded 5 on a single video. The older videos and comments can be found on the last pages for the episode. There is a fairly recent comment noting the 0-bird solution, but as you found out, it is quite rare.
Thank you for the rapid response! I suspected that I wasn’t the first gamer to notice the collapse, but I figured that details would be posted under the 6-9 walkthrough. That’s a lick on me. Where can I find the video? Jim
Mvnla2 — disregard request — I found the forum. Thaks again,
There is no video of the collapse, if that is what you are looking for. The old videos and comments are on the last pages of the walkthroughs. Your description is far more detailed than most for any self-destroying level. Thanks.
Finally for the 0 birder for 121k. Thanks for the tip.
AMslimfordy’s video worked the best!!! If the yellow bird’s peak barely touches the stem of the sling, this will provide a consistant direction for the bird to break the two boards, if the activation is on the downward path. There are a number of levels in the Danger Above world that I refer to as “fling and pray”. This appears to be one of them because of the apparent random patterns of debris that greatly influences the final score for this level.
Great tip about thr bird’s beak. I love the “fling and pray” comment, so true.
I’ve also been trying the video’s strategy, tossing the YB up in the air and speeding it throughout the horizontal planks with a similar trajectory to yours. I got lucky once and got the TNT to fall just right; with the three of them blasting different parts of the structure. Earned a score of 108k with one bird :)
I should really try the 0-bird technique though, if only I had the patience…
Excellent tip,@wrw01 :) improved by 5k lol the beak touching and the praying really helPed;) ty:)
yet another level where they set the three star level too high. been at it for days and can’t get more than 97
@spdlives — Well, you can always try for the 0-birder (see comments above and in forum on self-destroying levels). Manu Malin got 120K that way, but no telling how long it took. ; ) But seriously, trying for a 0-birder might be less stressful than flinging and getting low scores. You might also want to look at the old comments and videos found on the last page for the episode (see my comment at the top of this page).
finally got it with one bird. i am on an older android device….and i let it run for over an hour per reset one day. never even got close to a 0 birder.
If anyone is still playing this level, the 0 birder still exists. But 109,000+ was my highest score.
@Whoosher — Thanks for report. Are you aware of the forum on Self-Destroying Levels? There is a list of all reported levels. Enjoy!
Thanks. Yes I have checked out that forum.
@mvnla2 are there any more reports about self collapse? I see it was still working in may not sure if the new update affected it..
Haven’t checked
Thanks @cjcp nice score btw:)
@Kathy; @mvnla2 As of Sept 2013 there was still self collapse about once every 85 flings. Points ranged from 500 to 66000, but no 0 birder for me :(
@cjcp — The 0-birder has always been extremely rare, so my guess is that it still exists. See the comments in the forum on self-destroying levels: https://www.angrybirdsnest.com/forum/discussion/873/please-add-to-list-of-self-destroying-and-unstable-levels
This is a completely uncompromising level. You either get the luck or not. I haven’t as yet and goodness knows I’ve tried. Stuck like glue on the 113k ish area. Sometimes I hate AB for its sheer cussedness.
Just as I released the yellow bird, structure started collapsing!! Still had 1 pig on far right. A few minutes later it collapsed on its own without firing a bird, but left the pig on the far right, and 1 in the bottom of the center. Still got 101k with 1 bird
I had 3 collapses in an hour on my revisit today. 2 were not much use as they left too much to clear up but the third cleared the birds completely and with my 3 x 10k unused bonus birds I got 118620.
And of course I mean the structure collapsed 3 times, not me personally!!
finally could bring myself to play for the 0-birder. to make it a bit less boring, tried to find a restart-self-collapse sequence. could easily find one (ipad air, abo v4.2.0): restarting the game, going directly to this level, and restarting the level 19 times (quickly, no need to wait; should not fire any birds) will cause a self-collapse albeit only a partial one. what is interesting, is that the result of the self-collapse differs (apparently, the tnt’s exploding is non-deterministic) across runs. anyway, i let it collapse and continued restarting and often, but not always, had another self-collapse occur quickly (say within 30 restarts), and a better one in that all pigs died. scores varied but got 114k quickly (on my 5th or 6th run). enough for now, will try for more later.
Hi everyone!
I have done 120160 after 4 days of playing with an average of 2-3 hours per day. Collaps happened to me totally 7-10 times and never above 112K.
What can i say: lots of luck.
In my opinion 1-bird levels You need just luck and this one moment which will come. What can be said about 0-bird ?:) This is my personal best of all AV danger above, I am really happy and I keep playing this Magic World of DA.
don’t care about 0birders(non-records), 114k 1 birder and im happy
