The Angry Birds Advent Challenge is a two-part Christmas themed cross-promotion for the new Samsung Galaxy Note.
The first part is brand new web-based Angry Birds game featured on note.angrybirds.com that is similar in many respects to Bejeweled (screenshot below). Â You swap birds and piggies to make matches, which in turn slide over and decorate the Christmas tree. Â You play until all your candles are extinguished. Â There is a bit more to it than that so be sure to check out the complete instructions on the site. Â There are also leaderboards so you can compare your score to others around the world.
The second part is a contest that focuses around level 5 of Angry Birds Chrome Seasons Greedings (found in chrome.angrybirds.com), which they’re calling the “Winter Wonderland Level”. We have a walkthrough for this level and details of the competition can be found on the site, but I’ve included them here because they’re a bit hard to find:

The highest 50 scores will win prizes. A further 50 people, selected completely at random, will also win prizes. How do you post your score to Chrome for the competition? I can’t figure out what to do!

nothing wrong, the submit button appears only in the 5th level of the first icon (the red icon) “season’s greedings” all other levels are like normal Angry Birds levels, you don’t see a submit button in regular Angry Birds levels do you? So to enter the competition you just need to play 4+1 levels (as of now at least, you reach the 5th level and you make 2,00,000 plus score then you can hope to be in the Top 100. Very difficult.
Advent challenge is quite buggy:
1) I was #34 with score 123130. No another person has the same score with me and I’m not shown up any more! :P
2) When you reach level 8 the board goes blank and you inevitably lose.

i figured out a trick, at the beginning of every level there is ALWAYS a 5 for the taking, just take 5 seconds to figure out which colour bird has 2 groups of 2 nearby and then just slide the 5th one in, you are guaranteed to get a 5 match Samsung Note Power everytime! :) also you can relocate the pieces to a different place at will, even if you get the error, keep doing it 2 or 3 times and the pieces move, so i can basically create 5 matches at will.
and when i played the game through dolphin browser (and even opera mobile) on my galaxy tab, there was a major bug, once you score a 5, the 5 keeps looping until you get enough points to clear the level, some 5-6 times at least, and there is always a 5 for the taking on each level start, so imagine, i was just figuring out which piece to move, i moved just 1 piece and then got 5 and then loop loop loop the Galaxy Note Power message kept repeating. It is also possible that they deliberately added this flaw/exploit for Galaxy devices (in order to press hard on the message of “Galaxy Note Power”) i was using Galaxy Tab 7.
i made it to level 22 on my Galaxy Tab (with the bug exploit) using Opera Mobile Browser, i was hoping the scores would get submit, but the game crashed after reaching sometimes level 17 sometimes 22

It sucks they don’t make this for Ipod I would actually be able to win something! Its so laggy on my crappy computer that’s why i play on ipod and same with everyone else i know that plays regularly. Hope someone from Rovio sees this an keeps that in mind through out the rest of the competition and if there is ever another one. Not complaining just suggesting.
Doesn’t work on iPad. I think it says that you need to download flash player, it’s in another language so I don’t know what it means

flash is being phased out gradually, was never supported on ios and adobe announced a few weeks ago that it won’t do flash for mobiles anymore. HTML 5 rules ;)

Have you got an older relative you can trust, like a father, mother, or uncle or something? You could get them to sign up, and you could do the winning for them, then they could give you the tablet!
I considered that, but it is In breach of the T&Cs, and one look at my parents and they’d guess, so I guess I’ll miss this one. I’ve only got to wait until August, so it’s not that bad I suppose :)

Is there a leaderboard for the Winter Wonderland level?
There’s no leaderboards yet for any Chrome-esque levels, though we may do that soon. There’s an issue with users posting Seasons Greedings scores from Chrome on the normal leaderboards, but that will be dealt with soon.
It’s actually on the main note.angrybirds.com site when you submit your score. So I guess the 2 different boards show up when you submit your score for that particular game.

Yes it is. The one the competition is being held for.
Right. So what we may do is create a separate “Chrome” leaderboard (since that level is included in the Chrome app). I will explain more in reply to Noisy.
Guilty as charged with posting Chrome scores (which have been removed) for the first four stages of Seasons Greedings…it was an honest mistake, for I didn’t realize until Winter Wonderland came out that Chrome Seasons Greedings was different from the other platforms.
Anyways, my current Winter Wonderland score is 190160.
Noisy, it is absolutely 100% not an issue. It’s something we need to deal with here. But here’s the major issues:
— Levels 1, 2, and 3 include an extra Red Bird, and therefore an extra 10k points are possible.
— A few of the levels have different minimum 3-star scores.
— Level 5 is clearly different (and who knows what future levels will hold).
— Those 3 “Unlockable” levels.
If you don’t mind holding off for a little bit. I think the necessity is rising for a separate Chrome leaderboard.

Man, I don’t know how people are getting 200k+ in the winter wonderland level.
Same! My highest is 185k, and only rubble is left! How are they getting such complete destruction?

I wish someone had some tips, my highest so far is 196940, but I was just lucky. No matter what I try, I can’t get any higher.
I figured a way to get 198k a couple times, but I still don’t see how people are up to 213k. That’s pretty much the entire board being cleared. They must be really good, or really luck. Or both.
How about a tip from you? :P I could only hit around 185k too. The way I’m doing it, I’m pretty sure it’s not possible to hit 213k. Are you guys using all the birds? I figure I have to use all the birds for max score.
One thing I’ve noticed is that you have to get the pillars on both sides, as well as the Note, plus have at least one bird left over, which is very difficult if you kill all the pigs.
I have better luck boomeranging the green bird rather than crashing it into the ledge at the top of the tower. Most times I can get the far right pillar and the note in the same shot that way, as well as some of the bottom birds.
How about you guys, do you boomerang the green bird, or use him like the walk through above? And the first bird, I haven’t decided whether it’s better to go through the ice block and have it make a hole, or to bounce him off the top rock and knock over the pillar below like the video. Once in a while I get lucky and make a hole and knock the pillar over at the same time, but not very often.
I boomerang the bird like you do. Sometimes I’m able to make it knock the rock down so the tablet falls. For the first bird, I pull it straight back and click on it right before it hits the snow. If the timing is right, it knocks the pillar down. I’ve only been able to get 198k by using all my birds though.
I’ve been trying the first bird like you, straight across since I first posted this morning. If we’re lucky, it will actually do a lot of damage. I’m still stuck at 196940 though. I am 3 starring almost every time, getting between 179,000 and 189,000. There must be something I’m missing.
The green bird, as well as A LOT of patience, is certainly the key. After my one definite and constant move in throwing out the first blue birds so that they hit the snow underneath the closest top pillar, been going back and forth in playing around with either launching greenie into the closest flat glass/ice board comprising the second floor of the house or boomeranging greenie into the snow holding up a great portion of the house. Needless to say, I am really, REALLY wishing my skills with the green bird were/are a lot better than they are right now. But, whether or not I place in the top fifty for this thing, this is making for fantastic boomerang bird practice. High score thus far is still 190160.

my high score in galaxy note level(episode 5 in chrome) is 192k.. Is it possible to go beyond 205k without using Mighty Eagle. Some ppl have got more than 210k… thats very surprising 4 me… i think they might b using mighty eagle….
Mighty eagle scores points differently. It only allows you to pass a level – it doesn’t earn stars and points the same way the normal birds do.
The Mighty Eagle does not result in any points.

I don’t think the Advent Challenge has any prizes. Only Winter Wonderland does.
Am I the only one who hates this Season’s Greedings thing? The Rovio ads are relentless and intrusive, the playing space is cramped because they took away full-screen option apparently to keep the stupd ads in your face, and that lousy Galaxy Note level is nothing but one big ad that never runs smoothly. I understand why they want to take advantage of commercial tie-ins, but it’s making the game not fun any more.
I didn’t mind paying for the Chrome version, it was only 3.99, and I am getting way more than that amount back in fun. It also will probably be more apt to get updates now that we have an option to pay for it, and it has differences from the regular version, so it adds variety.
I also like the contest, it gives me something tangible that I could never afford to buy to play for. Even though I will probably never win, it’s a lot more fun than the lottery, and much less expensive.
Well, you can always block the ads. The Winter Wonderland level is a competition, not just a gimmicky level. And if it doesn’t run smoothly for you, it’s probably hardware-related since it’s smooth for me.

Btw, don’t you guys find anything fishy on the Winter Wonderland leaderboard? How could Pong from Thailand and Ayman Reda from Egypt have got 258,265 and 211,907 scores respectively? Isn’t the score supposed to be a multiple of 10?

I’ve got 200k+ quite often. And I can tell that after reaching that score VERY little objects are remaining. So even IF he only used one bird, he’d only reach 240k-250k.

Unless, something else can happen with the 3 Galaxy Notes that are sitting around (not the present). Like, if one touched another it scored some kind of mega-bonus. *shrugs*
I hope they do a check on scores like that. With some of those 250,000 scores it looks like I’ll never catch up. They must have totally destroyed everything!

I agree. I posted what I’ve been doing above, I’ve tried all sorts of other things, but just can’t get above 196,940. I can consistently get between 179,000 and 189,00 with quite a few scores in the 190,000s, but still haven’t hit 200,000.
I think we’ll never find out how to reach 363k in a fair way. And I have a reason to say so.
First, here are some things that I know:
1. All objects (excluding the pigs) will give you 500 points each upon destruction.
2. All objects (excluding the pigs) will give you some points when hit by a bird. This point will varies depending on the object, the bird, and how hard the collision is. The highest that I can remember was 1,790 points, by hitting the black bird to the big round stone.
3. No points will be given when an object hits another object, unless one of them was destroyed (which will cause statement 1 to be in effect).
Now, let’s take a look at this picture:

In that run, I got 201,820 by using all 4 birds. So you can say that the points received from statement 2 was almost maxed out. The number of objects left were 25 but let’s say 30 because maybe left some of the far right side. And, let’s also say that somehow you can get this much destruction by only using one bird.
So how much will the total score be?
1. Objects left: 30 * 500 = 15,000
2. Three birds left: 3 * 10,000 = 30,000
3. Original score: 201,820
So, the total will be 246,820 points. Even if they can squeeze more points from my statement 2, I think they’ll only reach around 250k and will never reach 260k, leave alone 360k.
Maybe we should discuss how to destroy those 3 Galaxy Notes on screen instead, like Jack said above…
destroying galaxy note is of no use.. u get 10,000 points only when you unpack the gift box.. Mine score is 201520 using 2 birds only.. I think slim and bird leader must be knowing some technique as they are all rounders in scoring high scores.
I wasn’t talking about the gift box, my friend… but about the 3 Galaxy Notes that are already visible on screen. And said it with sarcasm too, btw :D
So far, I don’t think I’ve gotten much from the little notes, I think one of the first things I tried to do was destroy them, but I’ll have to try again and see if I was wrong. I’ve sort of been ignoring them lately.

forget about 363k. just check it highest is 919k….. which means he is getting more than 200k points with every bird… that is next to impossible…. Must be a hacker
Yeah, the question now is how many of them are hacking? Which one is the valid number one now? I hope Samsung/Rovio will soon notice and fix it.
Anyway, currently I don’t really care about the prizes anymore. I just want to know how legit top scorer achieves it.

It’s no fun any more with people cheating, even really high scores that are possible are now suspect since there are probably people who will cheat to get a possible high score. Even if the obvious cheats are disqualified, there will probably some who will post maximum possible scores just so they can win and not get caught for cheating.
Well yeah, that’s true. Even if later they can somehow detect whether the score was submitted legally or not, the scores that were already submitted can’t be.
But at least I believe in Arush’s score of 213,110 ^_-

Well I am basically stuck at 198,000. Should have been easily in the 200,000’s but I misused my second bird.
Major things I have learned:
1. It seems llike you get a lot more points if the box drops through and breaks on the Galaxy note below.
2. When i got my top score of 198,000 I almost killed eveything with the first bird and I missed with the second bird otherwise I should have had a score in the 220,000’s.
I still have no idea how you could get in the 300,000’s there has to be a cheat or secret.

that ponghacker’s score is deleted now…. but still the score of 363k is something fishy… well my score is now 213110.. I have used 3 birds in this level.
Note: even if u destroy all the pigs with 2 birds, use the 3rd bird(ice breaker) as the destruction of ice results in points more than 10,000….

ya angrybirdsnest group has a superb advantage over others.. i want maximum no. of people from this group to win the game as we have superb video walkthrough and leaderboard section which no other sites have…
Yeah, why are they not deleting Pong’s and Wright’s scores (if not all of the current top 5)? Are they implying that their scores are legit and achievable?
On a side note, does anyone feel like they have tweaked the level? Because I used to be able to pull this one thing off almost all the time, but now I can’t. And I know for sure the background has changed slightly
yes i think that even a score of 265k by kelly must be manipulated. Notice that the score from the 100th rank is increasing in the order of 10s, and 100s or 1000s at max… But there is a sudden increase in the score from rank 6 to rank 4. (in terms of 38,000) which is doubtful, if considered legit…. Rankers 1 & 2 are definitely cheaters, no doubt..
