Help with cave bosses with 3 stars

Home Forums Angry Birds Epic Forum Help with cave bosses with 3 stars

  • Hey guys,
    I completed all the caves several weeks ago,and was trying to get 3 stars in these levels.But I’m annoyed with the bosses of these caves:
    Cave 3
    Cave 4
    Cave 5
    Cave 8
    Cave 13
    I found these bosses are harder to get 3 stars than Cave 12….

    @kenhsieh — Look through the older pages of the Epic forum. There are lots of threads discussing the hardest level. Good Luck!
    You didn’t say what level you are, or what the rank of your birds is, but for some of the bosses, you may need to level and rank up. Also, it’s best to be stocked with lots of strong potions (somewhere near 20 each of pig cherry juice, chili cake, and fruitcake — or whatever they are called).

    If you’re rich with LC, you can buy Mighty Eagle’s fish (45LC for 3).
    If not, Blue Trio/Marksmen can double up the attack times which helps speeding up the victory.
    If you have Matilda with Nightmare Set, alternatively, you can use Blue Trio’s Egg Surprise rage ability which can give around 1200 extra damage when the opponent is stunned.
    However, if the Boss has ability to resist status attack, it’s time to buff up your fighter with Bomb/Captain which can boost attack by 60%.
    Lastly, make sure you stock up your potions, cakes, and chili because you will use them a lot.

    @kenhsieh For cave 13, the best combination is Paladin, preferably with a stun weapon, Princess (to revive and heal Red) and Pigiana Jones (to dispel the shield). There is a thread elsewhere that discusses three starring this boss. Just set Paladin’s devotion on whoever the boss is attacking.

    For cave 8, I use Paladin, Bard and Pigiana. The pig boss’s counter does not work when you counterattack. So set Pigiana’s counter on Paladin and use Paladin’s devotion on everyone. That way all attacks go to Paladin and he counter attacks.

    Heal with Bard or attack if the boss’s counter is not active. Remember, never attack the pig boss directly if his counter is active, unless you will finish him off.

    I agree!
    It will be interesting to know how the 906-star guys have beaten the bosses…
    I have 903 myself: I 2-starred Ice Shaman King (Cave 4), Cave 13 Level 5, and Winter Soldier (Cave 13).
    By the way, try to beat the bosses with «Paladin», «Princess» and a strong friend’s bird (it will work for cave 8).
    For Cave 5 I have used «Samurai»-«Grand Slam»-6, «Druid»-«Nightmare»-7, and «Spies»-«Artillery strike»-7. Just attack the boss all the time, he shouldn’t damage your birds. It’s a (1 – (1 – 0.08)^(3 + 1)) = 0.2836 chance to stun him per a turn. If he’s not stun, use Rage Chilli on Blues (if his ally is knocked, of course), so keep the Chilli filled. 43000 points are enough.
    Waiting for your walkthrough of 13-5 :)
    P. S. And what is the problem in Cave 3?

    KerrAvon
    @kerravon

    For cave 5, try Rainbird, Tricksters and Prince Porky. Give Prince Porky a rage chilli so he can get rid of the ghost for good. You can then use some chilli cakes and feed these to Rainbird (for high damage) or Tricksters (for stun). Use Rainbird to heal as much as possible. You may need some potions to heal up at the end.

    @mvnla2 I’m at the max level,and the classes I have are about lvl 7,expect Paladin and Priest cause I bought it later.But I dont have Bard,Seadog,Skulkers, and Thunderbird.

    @dj_hb Thanks for your advice and waiting for walkthoughs at cave 13.But for cave 3 I tried lots of combos with Porky but still 2 stars.Even walkthoughs for me didnt work.

    epicMarksmen
    @kenhsieh

    @kerravon I tried yours at cave 5 but still not work.

    epicMarksmen
    @kenhsieh

    I think I missed something at cave 3,which is similer to cave 5,if I get 3 stars at cave 3,maybe I will know the key at cave 5.

    dj_HB
    @dj-hb

    Oh.
    I’m easily 3-starring him.
    Maybe try a combo of «Paladin» and two strongest birds of yours? (e. g. «Bard» or «Sea Dog»)?

    epicMarksmen
    @kenhsieh

    I dont have those LC classes expect Paladin, but I’m thinking about buying Skulkers or golden chilli first.Besides, did you 3-stared them with Porky?Or do you think someone is better to replace him? I think the small ghost with Porky can get more points than others.

    dj_HB
    @dj-hb

    You could use «Paladin» + «Captain» + friend’s «Skulkers» for massive damage to the little ghost and healing your birds; the other ghost won’t be very dangerous («Captain»’s «Dispel» negates his effect).
    By the way, are you level 41? What Mastery levels do your birds have? Have you got 41-level friends on Facebook?

    epicMarksmen
    @kenhsieh

    Yes,I’m at max lvl with mostly max lvl set items, I also have classes most of them are around lvl 7.I have a friend who is also lvl 41 but not all of his birds have set bonuses.

    KerrAvon
    @kerravon

    @kenhsieh Sorry my method did not work for you. My Rainbird and Tricksters are now rank 10, so you may need more powerful birds to do it this way. Were you unable to beat the boss because you couldn’t keep up with healing or because it took too long?

    I think I also managed to do it with Rainbird, Marksmen (with BEEP set) and Pigiana Jones – using his dispel to remove the ghosts ethereal defense and the bosses attack buff whenever I needed to. In this case you just need to feed chilli’s to chuck.

    epicMarksmen
    @kenhsieh

    So the key of 3-starring cave 3 is also the same?

    firedragon
    @mingkee27

    @kerravon
    If you use Marksmen, you should use Samurai or Cannoneer which can make 7 hits including Pigiana in one round.
    It can be better if Red has Titan set which can stun the enemy for two rounds.

    KerrAvon
    @kerravon

    @kenhsieh I did the whole of cave 3 using prince porky to remove one or more of the smaller ghosts before battling the big ghost(s). I am pretty sure it was the same with the boss in this cave.

    I believe my team for the boss would have been Rainbird, Tricksters and Prince Porky. Tricksters will dispel the boss ghosts ethereal defense. Then just keep giving the chilli to Rainbird or healing with Rainbird.

    KerrAvon
    @kerravon

    @mingkee27 This strategy is based around giving a rage chilli to chuck – to get multiple attacks from Marksmen at the same target, as well as attacks from Rainbird and Pigiana Jones. Having Rainbird in your team also enables you to heal, which is necessary if you wish to bring your birds back up to full health to get three-stars. Normally I would bring Prince Porky with Marksmen, because of his three attacks. But in this case you need Pigiana Jones for his dispel ability.

    firedragon
    @mingkee27

    @kerravon
    Under such condition, Chuck should equip Phoenix Set or Blue Trio should equip Save Me set because it can dispel.

    Are the tactics working? :)
    By the way, could any of you tell me how to achieve three stars on 13-5? :)

    KillerKea
    @killerkea

    @burbman I found 13-5 to be harder than any cave boss to get 3 stars on, but I was trying to do it without using a huge amount of rage chilis. Wave 10 is always the Primevil Frost Hog and you might need to have your Paladin use devotion or similiar defensive skill if you like a different version of Red before the Frost Hog attacks since he does 2451 damage and gets a wilding bonus which further increases his damage based on how full your chili bar is. Try to make sure you use your rage chili right before he attacks so he’ll do less damage. It is best to cast devotion in an earlier round so you can use heroic strike immediately before you get attacked so your chili bar is at zero.

    I used Paladin, Sea Dog and Piggy McCool since I don’t have any Facebook friends to borrow birds from. It should be significantly easier to get past it now that the pig allies have been greatly improved from rank 1 to rank 9 in my case. I’m guessing the pig allies improve one rank for every 25 ranks you’ve achieved, but no one has ever discussed this here.

    dj_HB
    @dj-hb

    Oh.
    I have no problems with knocking the Primevil Frost Hog out, but I do with passing the level fast (my highscore is lowest of all my Facebook friends for this level).
    Maybe your strategy would work for me, I’ll try it tomorrow.
    Anyway, thank you, @killerkea

    @dj-hb The lineup I use for the Bottomless Cave Dungeon is Paladin Druid and Sea Dog. I used this lineup for 13-5 also and it got me 3-stars pretty easily. I only even had Mastery 7 classes at the time. Just remember these tips:

    Keep Sea Dog attached to BOTH BIRDS for the ENTIRE BATTLE. That shouldn’t be too hard because there are no Dispel Pigs. Just make sure you remember to attach to a bird every round.

    Every wave the Chili should get filled up by the time you get to the next one. Put on Red and use the other birds to get rid of that first brute before he gets to attack.

    When only 1 brute is left he would get a hit in. Use Paladins side ability on the bird being attacked.

    If that final brute is one that attacks everyone and you can’t beat him in time. Plan your damage so that you have full health by the time you beat him.

    And finally for Primevil Frost Hog make sure Red uses Devotion on whoever is going to be slammed. Make sure Rage Chili was NOT used at the start of the wave. Instead after the attack use it on Druid to revive Red. Repeat until he is dead. Although the Chili doesn’t fill by the next attack so after the next attack happens you might need a chili cake.

    @killerkea @partshade
    Thank you! Those are similar fast strategies, but I am very unlucky: in the last turn before Primevil Frost Hog attacks my Matilda, my Red was stun by the negative effect, so «Druid» ate ~2300 damage and went away.
    Then, with Matilda, Bomb was smashed by ~3000 damage. Red survived and knocked the pig off with Rage Chilli.
    That gave me 2 stars (because of the lack of 20000 points from knocked out two birds).
    Maybe I should try later or save up 30 or 45 LC for three Mighty Eagle’s Dishes.
    By the way, does a Dish work for one stage or for a whole level?
