We announced back in July that Angry Birds Trilogy was coming to major gaming consoles, and the wait is now over! That’s right, you can now fling birds on the big screen if you have XBox 360, PlayStation 3, or (on the slightly-smaller) Nintendo 3DS. The release is slightly overshadowed by the upcoming release of Bad Piggies, but it is still big news. There is a trailer coming soon, and more can be found info at trilogy.angrybirds.com, including links to purchase.
Here’s what we know immediately:
- This is a single gaming cartridge that contains the majority of levels from the original Angry Birds, Seasons, and Rio.
- The cost is $29.99 USD for 3DS and $39.99 for XBox and PS3. A bit high, but it IS on a massive screen. It should be available at most gaming retailers, both physical and online.
- The game contains 19 episodes at launch: ABo has Poached Eggs through Mine and Dine; Seasons has Trick or Treat through Mooncake Festival; and Rio has Smuggler’s Den through Smuggler’s Plane.
- Mighty Eagle! Available at no additional cost, it appears.
- Achievements! Available for XBox 360, at least. Pretty much a compilation of iOS’s achievements. See the full list on this page.
- Compatibility with Kinect/Move and 3D features.
Some pressing questions:
- How many Golden Eggs there are? (They exist in the game, that’s confirmed.) Do they match our listings? What about some of the that required a tap or click, like the Treasure Chest, Sun, and Danger Above Level Screen?
- Rio also contains its Golden Fruit, but it is not yet known if the Trophy Room is available as playable levels.
- It is not really clear if these games will receive episodic updates (or game updates, such as Space), but it is possible.

Here’s another video, which sheds some light on some aspects of the game (for one, you have to unlock episodes by earning certain amounts of stars). And apparently, there’s no longer an opening cutscene for Angry Birds Rio (would’ve loved to see the original ABR trailer reanimated in the current art direction).

I’m really confused. On ign and ESRB it says AB is available for the wii. Last time I checked AB wasn’t on the Wii Shop Channel. Can anyone confirm if AB is on the Wii or not?
Yes angryguy I vote for Wii. That is the only gaming system remaining in the house. That would fit the situation. Game looks awesome on the big screen from the video clip.
Rovio said that it’s not in their plans to make ABT for the Wii or Wii U.

1) No, we don’t add leaderboard entries for über-exclusive levels. (e.g., the Samsung Eggsteroid in Space)
2) As far as we know, XBox/PS3/3DS are welcome to compete on our leaderboards until we find any major discrepancies. If, for example, there are levels with vast differences (e.g., different Golden Egg levels), we will disallow entry there.

Not true. There will be 19 episodes with some new “exclusive” levels.
From what I see, the levels are much BIGGER and completely different.
From the gameplay I’ve seen, the levels look identical.

I love the backgrounds.The game is looking better than the HD version.And there are some new levels.I will buy an Xbox just for that.

A new video, this time showing how the game plays on Kinect, and the Mighty Eagle being unlocked (apparently by failing a level a certain amount of times).
According to some of the videos I’ve seen on YouTube, there are some fairly intricate looking new levels. Unfortunately, I don’t have any of those gaming systems, but if I decide to go O/O, I’ll be setting up my truck with a big TV and probably a PS3…
In the video, multiple people are holding controllers. Is it multiplayer, or maybe a turn-based competition?

I don’t think there’s any reason to redistribute in existing platforms.

We said in the post we don’t know.
They send it to Sony, then Sony will notify all users with the game to download the update. However, some games on Playstation Network will not let you connect until the software has been updated. Littlebigplanet does this.

Hey, everyone! I was watching this video of the game, and at the end, the player went to the Bird Biographies menu… and the Green Bird (Al) and Orange Bird (Bubbles) weren’t there!

You cannot hit it with the birds. You need to destroy the ‘menu barriers’ to break the cage, to unlock birds in streetpass to migrate.
