A good strategy for Angry Birds Surf and Turf level 39 is to send the first Yellow bird through the vertical wooden blocks of the top-right structure. This is a challenging shot, but if done correctly, the TNT next to the structure will detonate. As a bonus, this detonation will send a single stone down the chute on the right side, triggering the TNT below. All that remains from here is a well-placed shot into the wooden block on the left side of the final structure. The score in the video below is 113,070.
If you have a different strategy feel free to leave a comment below; however, don't just post your score via the comments, as that's what the leaderboards are for.

Confirmed 106k is 2-star.
121,890
Arc first bird towards ‘gator’s mouth, accelerate into first “tooth”. Yellow bird drops straight down, hitting horizontal board on left of first structure, which collapses on itself.
Arc second bird a little lower than first, accelerate towards right structure similar to. Ideo, but hitting the structure’s roof. Structure collapses, crushing piggies, part of roof falls right, setting off explosion. Bird drops onto bottom left structure. With everything in motion, the final explosion removes almost all debris.
My strategy was to fire the first bird through the wood of the left most structure, going almost all the way through, causing the rest of the blocks to fall to the right and take out the entire bottom section of the level. Bird two fired at the remaining building will clear the level with all three stars.
My score was 111,950.
@GEhunter — I used your strat to get 119920. Thanks!
I used the first bird high into the stone parts at the top of the structure in the gator’s mouth. This caused debris to detonate the TNT, which threw debris past the right side of the “tongue” causing a sequential right to left detonation of the lower TNT’s, destroying both lower structures and associated pigs.
My second shot was a high, tight arc throgh the horizonal board on the left side of the leftmost structure, collapsing it, and taking out the pigs.
Final bird for bonus points.
I must confess, my 120k was actually due to the unexpected self-collapse of the top right structure. Glad to see that it is feasible to obtain this without the glitch.
Now trying to obtain a similar score legitimately.
And seconds after the last post I improved to 121k!! :D
Basically I just reversed Sal’s shots, but I hit the second shot a bit higher, into the stone block. The debris happened to break through the wooden cover on the right TNT and set off a chain reaction, clearing everything. And there was no self-collapse. Now I can leave here proud.
@bullets0000 — Taking advantage of self-destruction is WAY legitimate — good for you. Would like to include this in the forum on self-destroying and unstable levels
http://www.angrybirdsnest.com/forum/discussion/873/please-add-to-list-of-self-destroying-and-unstable-levels/p8
More details would help (points after collapse, frequency of collapse, time to collapse.
While you’re in that forum, take advantage of some of our collective knowledge of self-collapse. There are some levels, most frustratingly ABS DZ-4, where the highest scores are obtained by total self-destruction, and above average requires a large amount of self-destruction. Unfortunately, it usually takes overnight.
@mvnla2
That was totally accidental – I was concentrating on the left tower after the first shot. Physically it is impossible to have the debris of the left tower to affect the top right tower, so when I suddenly spotted that tower collapsing, I could think of nothing but self-destruction. After that, on my way to improve my score, I paid a little more attention on that tower. It did not shake a bit.
Maybe it was just an accident, maybe I was in luck. It doesn’t matter anyway now, I got a better score with the most legit way. (And yes, I kind of think self-destruction IS cheating in some way.)
I did it like in the video and it works just fine.
Same here. The walkthrough video approach worked the best for me.
Got 131770. First shot in the front structure had over 80k, with both bottom TNT detonated. Good second shot.
Two equally good strategies for this level – I scored 122k following the walkthrough, & 125k by going for the left structure first. Aim right through the 1st wee piggie on the left side to take the whole structure down, you really have to take out both the bottom TNT with the 1st shot, if things topple over but they don’t explode the small stone that tumbles down the chute on the 2nd shot can be blocked from setting them off.
Thanks for the aiming tip @karen68!! It helped a lot! I’ll add one more thing to it, after hours of working this level I noticed that if you aim for the wee piggie and hit the bar holding the big piggie up just right you have a better chance of taking enough debris off the cliff to tumble the first TNT, set it off and have debris hit the other TNT, points ranged from 72k to 80+k doing it this way as opposed to having the yellow bird fly through all the wood, things don’t seem to tumble over as often to start the TNT chain reaction.
Nice score @kimmiecv, glad it helped! There are an awful lot of S&T levels that need hours of work aren’t there, although I actually didn’t mind this one compared to some of the others. :)
Yep @karen68 Hours!!! But I agree this one was fun so I didn’t Mind the hours, too bad they’re not all that fun! :)
ME for this one anyone?
I’ll be posting videos soon, maybe as soon as tomorrow.
1. Yellow Bird into the little wood block on the left side of the left structure. It goes through the entire structure and can cause damage to the lower level structures.
2. While the first YB was going through the structure, immediately launch the Yellow Bird into the upper right structure like the video.
The damage and explosions occur simultanously.
The top right structure self-destructed only once while launching the YB into the left structure for the first shot. This was over an hour of playing time. Obtained a score in 118k range.
I did what manu malin said… Good first topple and explosions got me 82k+ Second bird took out wood at front of structure, and lucky toppling did the rest. Spent a solid 90 mins on it though…
