Below is a list of confirmed and rumored Angry Birds updates that we’ve compiled from various sources, including our own News & Rumors forum (a big shout out to RLZIII, AMslimfordy and everyone else who chips in on that board).
Quick background, we decided to create this page because we are always getting asked questions like, “When is the next Angry Birds update?”, “When will Angry Birds Rio be out on PC?”, “When will the Mighty Eagle be available on Android?”, just to name a few.

what about mighty eagle for android???
There’s no real news about Mighty Eagle for Android other than that it’s an active project but has kind of stalled. It seems as tho Rovio was relying on Android to develop the “Bad Piggy Bank” for in-app purchases, but it fell through. Last I saw (I can’t find the Twitter link; if anyone finds it, let me know), Rovio was looking to Amazon and Google for development.
The Bad Piggy Bank is actually Rovio’s initiative that I believe is still in active development. It’s basically a micro-transaction system that allows for seamless InApp purchases, which is required for the Mighty Eagle to be supported. InApp purchases are much less seamless on the Android, hence why Rovio has been working on a solution. In addition, I’ve heard the Android Marketplace and the Amazon App Store are working on their own solutions to make InApp purchases easier. Whether it’s the latter or the Bad Piggy Bank I think we’ll eventually see the Mighty Eagle on Android, but it’s hard to say when.
I get that before when they had the Android market, but now with the Amazon AppStore…why not release a paid version of AB that overwrites the data but includes the might eagle. I get the idea was supposed to be a one time, in app, purchase, but to be honest… most of us will purchase it just to redo all the levels, so why not just release an AB app that includes the eagle.
Interesting, but then it would be $1.98: 99 cents for ad-free and 99 cents for Mighty Eagle. Again, I don’t know what Rovio is considering. (Also, Amazon Appstore still needs to go worldwide; perhaps that’s a prerequisite as well.)
Also, the in-app purchase is still somewhat necessary if Rovio is planning the same premise as iOS: A one-time purchase across three separate apps.
I like what you said here Mr. Minion1021. Mr. Bird Leader sir, is there any way you can get in contact w/ rovio and suggest something like this to them?
What about Mighty Eagle on PC?
I haven’t seen anything for PC yet. Perhaps Bird Leader or RLZIII has, but I’ve been watching closely.

I would say once we see it arise for Mac, the next push will be PC.
What of the Mighty Eagle for Mac (both Angry Birds and Rio)? Apple now has an API for in-app purchases, so that’s not an obstacle…maybe with the World 14/Seasons update for Angry Birds due ‘later this summer’, and May or July update for Rio?
If Mac has in-app purchases now, I would imagine Mighty Eagle is coming quite soon. I would think the order would be similar to iOS’ release: AB first, then making sure it’s possible for a one-time purchase across three separate apps.
What will be in next update for original AB? Maybe chapter 6 or just some bug fixes.
Hey, you must of overlooked that is says “May” above under “Angry Birds”. I’d imagine that means towards the end of May, but who knows.
Yes BL. Rovio said it will a “larger than usual” update. (Found the tweet.) So it should be 15 or 30 levels of Episode 6.
I think that if you have paid for the Mighty Eagle on the original AB the it should also already be paid on ABS when the Mighty Eagle comes out for ABS. Nobody wants to pay for it twice.

there are many unique countries in the world and unique places in them countries but that wouldnt come under seasons? I think an Angry Birds World Tour game would be a huge success for Rovio and would please the fans that are waitin for something new and exciting :)

Latest Rovio Tweet says that the Android Market release should be out by the end of the day Friday. I would think this also applies to “Rio Free” for iOS.
ABR free for iOS is now here. There is also an update out for AB free for iOS, which updates the pause menus
From what I can tell, the “enhanced pause menu” = ads.

If they are going to have a 4th of July update for seasons, I think that they should have a fireworks bird colored red, blue and white. It can explode into 5 birds in 5 directions like fireworks. :)

That’s referring to the v1.5.4 update for mobile devices. We haven’t heard anything besides “soon” about the PC update.

Yesterday, the tweet said “not this week”. Their goal was end of May, but with the Rio fiasco I’m sure they got delayed.

I know, the full version on PC is in desperate need of an update to bring it at least up to v1.5.3. There is a new version of AB full slated for release soon, so I wonder if the PC will just bypass v1.5.3. Either way, I hope we get something soon. I believe Angry Birds Rio is coming to the PC version soon. Rovio sent out a tweet a couple days ago that said it was, “silently dropping”, though I’m not sure exactly what that means. They also said that it will be available through more than just Intel AppUp, which would be nice. We’ll see.
