So this morning Rovio uploaded the video below to YouTube. At first I was scratching my head, but after a little searching — and Google-translating — I found that this video is tied to a brand new HTML5 Angry Birds mini-game called, “Angry Birds Volcano”. It’s similar to Angry Birds Google+ / Chrome. Now, this is a “mini” promo version tied to “Tyrkisk Peber Volcano” flavor so don’t expect 100 levels. Right now there are three levels available by default, but more can be unlocked using secret codes.

Tyrkisk Peber (Danish for “Turkish Pepper”) is a strong liquorice candy flavored with ammonium chloride (salmiakki) and pepper, made by the Finnish company Fazer and popular in the country. Tyrkisk Peber was originally invented by Per Fjelsten, his wife’s name was Elly, therefore the company name Perelly, in 1976 and made by the Danish company Perelly, which was taken over by Fazer.

Anyone else have a huge black square on the screen? I finished the first level by looking at the screenshot above. I am using FF and tried Chrome. I am on a mac if that makes any difference

Hrm, that works. Instead of entering codes, you can just double-click on where levels 4-6 are supposed to be and you will enter. So long as you beat the level, it will appear on the Level Selection screen.
Does hardware acceleration have anything to do with the lag in the HTML5 versions? I have it on Chromium(Iron version of Chrome), IE8, and all version of Firefox I have on my machine(latest released through the beta and alpha version(s)).
I use HTML5 with Iron all the time, and I know it works with Firefox(s)!
But for some reason I just can’t get any speed out of the Volcano levels.
Frustrating! The HTML5 version is poorly implemented, or there is something else wrong!
I checked, and The Iron version of Chrome(chromium) gets the same test score as Chrome (313) . Since I don’t have Chrome(and probably won’t have) I won’t know if it is better, but I seriously doubt it. HTML5 is one of the really good things that chromium does! http://html5test.com/
crap, I read wrong! It’s 340 and 9 bonus points out of the 450 test parameter maximum. All other browsers fall below the 340.
I get 60 fps on the game using Chrome 14. Maybe your PC specs have something to do with this?

No, cannot be played on iPad.
Can this be pulled/extracted and saved for local storage to play at a later time? I really don’t mind all the various incantations of Angry Birds, but I do not like relying on web availability for long term use. Eventually they will pull this from the web for some reason, and when that happens, you can’t play it any more…
BTW, I have just over 120K on the first level…number 6 on the chart…won’t last forever I know, but it sure is cool seeing your name up there for even a brief moment

Comments about extraction and torrents are deleted. We like to keep all version of Angry Birds legitimate and where they belong. No tutorials on things that are frowned-upon or infringe copyrights.
Any way to zoom out on this version? I normally play zoomed out on my iPod as it gives me a better perspective to launch the birds.

OK…when I got a good enough score to be on top 10 list for level 1, it asked me for my name and email address. Now that I have completed all 6, my overall score qualifies me for number 9 on the overall top 10 list, but it is not recognizing it, although all my scores are still in each individual level. Anyone know how to get it to take your info to be put on the list? I want to take a pic before I get bumped off eventually…
Never mind…Made it to number three overall. I got a pic of it for keepsake…Backing up my localstorage Safari file for sure… and this time, it asked me for name and email address. Can’t understand why it didn’t last time. Oh well, now going to relax for a bit before seeing which version is next on my list.

yeah way to much lag still got 3 fireballs on all…They should make an update for ios that has all the chrome dimension, google+, and volcano level cause id rather play play hand held/touch screen!…Would be sweet!
I agree with that.
To generalize, it would be nice of them to make an app where they occasionally add all the exclusive levels after a certain ammount of time. E.g the 4G golden egg, the web levels, the Nokia Magic levels etc.
I think however, for marketing reasons, this won’t happen, but I’d like very much to be proven wrong! :-)
True. To be honest if they wanted better marketing ideas they could sell that app for a dollar. Id buy it and im sure im not the only one! Lol rovio should come here for ideas! I got tons! and ive read some amazing ideas on this forum!!

I seem to be the last to know about the volcano. I can get the game on chrome. How do you get a user name? When I go back to the game I have to start all over again. It does not seem to record a score anywhere that indicates you have a stored score. Frustrating starting over each time. It also appears you cannot create a short cut, or tab it.
Can anyone help? (please)
There’s no username or sign-in unfortunately. The data (I believe) is stored similar to Chrome Beta’s local storage so that may be one possibility to try to save your progress.
As per the leaderboards on the fazer site, you are only prompted to enter a username if you make it into the top 10 of some category. Even then, nothing saves besides your name being tacked to the board.

I have an issue. I originally started playing the Volcano levels on chrome and I unlocked all levels and it always saved my progress I was actually on the overall leader boasrd at that time then one day BAM i go to play and I have no saved progress I then go to enter the codes and not one of them work. I then started useing IE9 and I am actually #2 on the leader board just to toot my own horn lol.
I just want to know wht I could do to get it working correct on chrome again (like let me unlock the lebels?)
I actually prefer plying it on chrome considering it seems to run better
Unfortunately, there is no way to save your progress. It is stored in your local storage and is erased whenever your cache is cleared.
I understand that basically it did store it for a while in Chrome and then one day it was gone. In IE9 it has saved my progress the whole time with no issue.
I do not mind starting fresh in Chrome which I have already done my problem is that it will accept any of the codes now. If I play it in chrome I can only play the first three levels. Why will the codes not work anymore? Should I try deleting the volcano file that is saved in the chrome folder on my computer or should I try uninstalling and reinstalling chrome? I just don’t understand why it will not accept the codes now?????
I’m not sure. I haven’t tried those codes in a long time.
I tried them three days ago and they were all working (I used chrome and firefox). However, there is indeed a problem with the progress storage… :-(
Actually, you can backup your progress the same was as you can for Chrome Beta. There is a file called fazer.
I did and I always lose my progress when I restore them… Something is buggy or I messed up a lot. :P
I have the same issue and I’ve already needed to start four times fresh on Chrome. Noticed that the codes are accepted again after deleting file http_fazer22-dot-latest-dot-angrybirds-fazer.appspot.com_0.localstorage in Chrome local storage. Don’t feel like playing this any more after all these problems (but maybe if you beat my score). Btw, the candies are nice if you like hot chili. You can buy them here in Helsinki.
Thanks the info hnasu. I was going to delete that file and try thanks for confirming. I have been trying to beat your score since you passed me but lately have been wrapped up in the xmas galaxy level ahahahaha. Don’t worry I will get you I have a couple levels that I need to improve my score on hopefully!
I’m sure you can do it, but it’s a bit frustrating to start everything again and having to beat your own records first. Good luck for the try anyway.

I know I’ve had a headache for the last week but I’m completely lost beyond all allowable! How am I supposed to play this mini game? Where do I find it or what do I click to start? I clicked on what I thought I needed to but when I do all I get is a screen that says “Get the iPad version of Angry Birds HD”.

Too bad, I was hoping maybe with the new update. But I was aware that I could only play from my ‘puter, that’s where I tried.
