Went for our walk today, in the hinterland between coast and mountains. Passed a very distinctive church that was in the middle of nowhere. Got home, turned on Countryfile and the very same church was featured having its roof slates replaced.

Twiggy had her tea in the end and she also had some French Beans in recognition of the eventual winners.

BTW, tried cheering for Wales but it didn’t work at all. Not because they were losing but because fundamentally, I’m just not Welsh.

The last few minutes were just cruel. Twiggy didn’t get her win bonus. Sent to her crate without her tea.

Max Boyce – I’ve just added him to the list of people who I thought had died years ago. I thought he was ancient back in the 1970s. I was clearly wrong, but living in Wales ages you before your time, obviously.

Just found out my neighbour is travelling down to see the Wales v England match this weekend. I just said carefully “may the best team win”. I think I may have got away with that one.

Well it has dumbed down. The very first champion in 1972 had the incredibly niche History of Music 1550-1900 as their specialist subject. Magnus Magnesium is probably turning in his grave at modern subjects. I also know the daughter of the 1975 Mastermind Champion (no Brian, his specialist subject was not The 1975).
