What happened to the Over Power in gold crates?

I have not seen an Over Power from gold crates in months.  Did R/E stop this? Anyone else notice this?

I also haven’t seen one for a long time. Maybe R/E have removed them from gold crates, although they still claim that overpower can be unlocked both in live events as well as in golden crates.

They are still in there. I just got one in this event, but I think they lowered the chance of getting them by a ton. Seems to be much harder to get them now.

They are still there, but sometimes you just don’t get any. Had a period when I opened like 80 crates without getting one overpower.

I thought the same thing, so I had a look into it.  Prior to the major update just over a year ago which completely changed the game and brought in the War Pass, I had opened 266 Gold Crates.  29 of those were Legendary (10.9%), of which 13 were Overpowers (4.88%).

Since then, I have opened 101 Gold Crates.  7 of those have been Legendary (6.93%), of which 4 were Overpowers (3.96%).

They happen, just not as often as before. Two events before I’ve got one, after a very long dry spell. Notwithstanding this, I keep trading tokens for gold crates just for the chance of getting gems.

I always try to get Over Power trading event tokens. 100% chance and exectly for needed TF’s. Gold crates is a gambling, and no matter if R/E lowered or rice % of success – it’s still too low. If I don’t have enough tokens for OP, I can open gold crates, but usually it’s something like green crystal or pigs.

@abt This is the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen in this game. I guess you would prefer OP’s , but this certainly is way better than pigs and coins.
Another sign that R/E is losing interest in this game??

Seeing as overpowers are hard to get in events it’s no surprise that there really rare in gold crates

I just got an overpower. Previously this happened probably five weeks ago.

I have noticed that Gold crates are a good supply of gems. Some six weeks ago I opened 10 Gold crates and got about 800 gems!

Wow, I’ve never got anything like that amount. Do they come as legendary prizes? I’ve only had them up to and including epic.

@moifirst Gold/Legendary crystals are not as useful for me since all my TFs are already at lvl 15 or above. The only use I have for them is to buy or upgrade Legendary accessories. But those also cost a lot of coins, which is something I’m trying to conserve for Sparkruns. I can also craft gold crystals in the lab, but Overpower/gems are much harder to get.

@millforce2k I think I already had 12-14 in my silo, so the 11 crystals filled up my silo (20) and the rest disappeared into the ether…

@soldeed This was from finishing 1st on the final day of a Challenge run. You are guaranteed to have 10 legendary crates as a reward.

Nice to know you can get gems as Legendary items, I just never have, up to yet. And, while I am always annoyed to get 50% Legendary crystals from the Challenge Run gold crates, I’d be gutted if that’s *all* I got!

Not technically gold crates, I guess, but 1st place in challenge run yesterday gave me 4 overpowers (and a bunch of Gold crystals)

I had a similar result maybe 3 weeks ago, too, but didn’t get a screenshot.  It seems like the legendary rewards from challenge runs are almost always either gold crystals or overpowers.   Regular gold crates from events seem more varied and I’ve had better luck with gems there but not many OPs.

Legendary rewards can be 1 of these 3 rewards: (1) gold crystals, (2) upgrade/overpower, or (3) gems (250 or 275). The probability is definitely skewed towards gold crystals. It’s probably around ~70%, ~25%, ~5% respectively.

@fortressmaximus it’s because Gold crates from Events gives Legendary, Epic and Rare crates, while 1st place at Energon CR gives only Legendary crates.
