My cynical opinion on bugs/up-dates etc

  • Just a few thoughts on the issues we all seem to be experiencing:

Missions – has anyone else noticed that, within minutes of starting a new mission, the TFs allocated to said mission suddenly appear in new nodes? So, unless you want to wait up to 24 hours to play the nodes, you have to spend gems to finish the mission? Seems like a cash grabbing move from Rovio to force us to buy more gems

Gem Farming – as per the other thread, the lack of freebie gems has basically stopped, again another cash grab from Rovio

Up-Dating Progress bug – this bug often means that hours of waiting for missions to complete are lost, and more importantly any gems received are also lost. So again, the solution is to fork out cash to buy gems – is this a genuine bug or are Rovio pulling a sneaky trick on us?

Up-dates – the last up-date added new material requirements to up-grade your TFs. Whilst in itself not a terrible prospect, we are forced to play missions, if only to get the Super Rarium – increasing numbers of which are required for higher TF levels. If you don’t want to wait – guess what, you can spend gems ( ie cash ) to get these!!!

I totally understand that Rovio are a business, and as such need to generate revenue. But to do so in such a cynical way, whilst making the game less fun to play, seems to be alienating their fans. The gems are ludicrously expensive – I would be interested to know how many players have ever caved and bought any?

Would welcome any opinions on these points, perhaps I’m right or perhaps I’m just a cynical old man??

I agree with your points in general.

My beef with Rovio isn’t that they introduced these revenue generating measures, I would have probably done the same if I were designing it. What pisses me off is that they waited over six months from the launch of the game to do so, giving us plenty of time to get used to the old status quo.

It would have been one thing to have these implemented from Day One, but it’s another thing to make fundamental changes long after the existing game play had already become well-established among the player-base.

They’re sucking the fun right out of the game IMO. I won’t pay to play. They make enough from me with all the ads I have to watch.

I completely agree with everything said here. I am shocked and totally dismayed at the unmitigated, sheer GREED on the part of Rovio. I am too ashamed to tell you the amount of money I’ve spent on the gems…you’re right…the amount they want is ludicrous. How can young people play this game when Rovio wants $100 for 5000+ gems? Now I find the game boring, repetitive and such a blatant rip-off, I hardly play anymore. The update better be fast and better be good. Fix the mission issues, lower the price for gems, give double pigs AND coins for watching those endless videos, fix the issue with level 10 transformers that die within seconds of their levels opening, spread some free gems around and/or award gems for finishing levels….etc etc. Do something to end the bitterness, disappointment, slowness and just plain boredom of this game.

so true. I don’t mind paying as long as game keeps me entertain but not aggravation of constant freeze and shut down. Shamefully, I paid for 400 gems to get me started and due to curiosity I coughed up $10 for Jenga mode (truly waste of money) but then I was not going to buy toys at higher price.

Traditional game model is you buy a game (finished gamed not half developed) for a certain cost and you don’t need to spend $500 for gems to short cut the game progress, you just get a cheat code… with TF model and other free games, cost can be limitless.

Allow me to play devil’s advocate here.

I’m going to be honest: I like the mission system. Because I’m on a 5.0 Android phone, my game frequently freezes and crashes, so I don’t play very many levels. The missions allow me to still get plenty of coins and gems, even though I can only get 2 stars at most on missions even with my level 10s and 11s (again, probably an Android issue).

In fact, just now I got 64k coins from one 12-hour mission, and I once got over 40 gems (missions basically ask as my new gem farming system).

And I don’t really mind the material farming needed, because since I’m on so many missions, I never really found myself running low on any of them.

As for the Update bug, yes, I agree it’s terrible, but I’m sure that’s because of a glitch, and not an act of malice on Rovio’s part.

So all in all, yes, I like the update.

Now if only Rovio would fix the Android-related problems…

@marioandsonic Is that why even when i send 3 level 12 TF’s on an easy mission I only get two stars each (And all 5 keys, no video needed)? I have seen other ppl post pics showing three stars but come to think of it I don’t believe I’ve ever seen three stars. I never worried about it because with few exceptions I always get the 5 keys but hmmm….

I think there was some discussion over whether some Android players were encountering issues. Seems that they only get two stars no matter what they do, even when they are matching up the symbols.
