    Now before you change channel this isn’t the usual silly bollox I like to play.If Adele hasn’t given this song a little credit for Skyfall she should be ashamed of herself.You might need tissues for this one.https://youtu.be/KqQXg847coc?si=fht6YlqhiXHsCUCE

    Never mind just seen your comment on walk through page.I agree with @hallieginsb.

    I obviously have a heart of stone. But there again, I’ve started getting emotional over dog rescue videos on YouTube.

    Anyway, point is I started watching House on Netflix. Apart from the fact that it is basically the same plot each episode, it’s entertaining due to the disgustingly over-talented Hugh Laurie. I did make a note at the start that there are 8 seasons so reasoned maybe about 50 to watch.  I’m now getting alarmed because we are still in Season 1 and already up to Episode 19. If this programme is going to run to about 150 episodes then I’m pretty sure there can’t be 150 different freakishly rare medical conditions that are possible to  misdiagnose several times before being identified. OR CAN THERE?

    Time (a lot of it) will tell.

    Under intense pressure from my fellow players, I put the score back.

    I get emotional watching the news and if there’s an item about child neglect/abuse I have to switch off due to a mixture of rage and sadness.I could not have been a police officer.More from The Montgolfier Brothers later I think who seem to write a lot of songs about loss and regret though Roger Quigley who wrote most of the lyrics was quite a cheery chap by all accounts but died aged only 51.I’m getting all emotional now.

    My Canadian Wordle chum Trader Kate sent me a link to a song by Canadian 1980s band Doug and the Slugs. Ever come across them @brianN? For band names, they are right up there, not so sure about the music.

    Can’t say I have @desperate-dan though the name did trigger off a long forgotten childhood memory.You might find this hard to believe but I was quite cheeky as a nipper.Anyway there was an older boy who used to visit our neighbourhood called Dougie Taws and I used to shout “Doug the Thug!” whenever I saw him(from a distance of course).However one day he collared me and grabbed me by the ear(which proved my theory correct I think) and made me apologise and promise not to do it again which I duly did.I legged it as soon as he let go but before I got round the corner I turned round and shouted it again.I remember him and his mates laughing so I knew I wasn’t in too much trouble.

    Halcyon times.The day Doug the Thug hurt my lug.

    Watching Dept Q on Netflix just now as I remember the original Danish series being very good.Seems like the storyline is similar but set in Edinburgh rather than Copenhagen and the humour is hi-viz.Centres round a very rude and arrogant English cop(don’t suppose you ever came across one of those @hunnybunny?) living in Scotland.Only 1/2 hour into ep 1 but several laugh out loud moments despite dark subject matter.Promising.

    PS agree with your comments about Laurie @desperate-dan as an actor anyway.

    Is anyone else being plagued by adverts on the Nest ?

    Desperate Dan
    @desperate-dan

    Ha ha @brianN I am about 30 mins ahead of you in Dept Q. Agree very promising. Keep thinking it’s Ben Wishaw, no bad thing. Shocking end to episode 1…

    Desperate Dan
    @desperate-dan

    Adverts yes, particularly bad recently. Can’t remember a single one though.

    @briann

    Great line you’d appreciate @ixan57.Kid on bus tells the cop he found his grandad dead…”It was the Tennent’s and crisps that got him.”

    Not reached the end yet Dan.

    @briann

    Yes surprise timey wimey ending.Think I’m all in.Matthew is Goode isn’t he?

    I thought it might be the historical case unfolding. But it was done so well it was easy to miss. Some brilliant dark humour.

    My Canadian contact sent links for two very successful Canadian bands she was pretty sure I wouldn’t have heard of. One was the mighty Doug and the Slugs, the other was April Wine (a bad a name as the other band’s is good). She prompted me to send an equivalent band/song back so I sent this. A band I saw live back in 1980 but seem to have been largely forgotten, even in this country.

    Has anyone watched the bbc documentary about Michelle mone. From the up cupping entrepreneur to when it went tit’s up. It’s worth a view.

    Desperate Dan
    @desperate-dan

    Is that your joke @ixan57? If so it’s a very good one.

    But I am overdosing on Scottish accents at the moment with Dept Q. Into episode 3 and it’s top class. A great running gag about the lead cop’s very bad car parking. But it is very dark.

    ixan57
    @ixan57

    Yes @desperate-dan all my own work, I’ve got a feel for these things.

    Up to the beginning of episode 5 of DeptQ @brianN. Best thing I’ve seen for years. Watch out for the running car parking gag, cracks me up every time.

    On the flip side, up to episode 22 of House and it’s STILL bloody Season 1.
