Aeshna@aeshnaI have one bird on level 5 and the rest on level 6 (although one of those is only 37 feathers away from level 7). That’s a difference of 1600 feathers, or so.
Now I thought that was quite a large difference, but I’ve just played someone in the arena who had all level 7 birds except Terence who was only a level 3.
How come someone can have such a vast difference? That’s roughly 4,000 less feathers for Terrence to catch up.
I realise there will be variations in levels but surely law of averages would mean all birds will be around the same. - CreatorTopic

Sutekh137@sutekh137That’s a great question, one I have had as well! Not to hijack your question, but I have also seen teams where they have several level 6 or 7 birds but are still missing one or two birds — how is that even possible? Why wouldn’t such a person advance in the normal levels in order to get all birds? Surely having less birds in the deck means a great struggle in the Arena with the new way it works, not? Or do the auto-generated scores to beat take having fewer birds into account?
Apparently some folks have just played the Arena since day 1 and have amassed a huge amount of feathers by winning a lot of Arena battles (they used to be just one day and the top reward was, what, 100 feathers?). That could add up quickly if someone played in the Arena a lot and spent a lot of gems to get a high score.
But I have to admit, some team configurations and the way scoring is done in the Arena still baffles me to a large extent…
Thanks,

Jon S@jon3800It’s really strange indeed. I had to battle someone who had a star ranking of level 5, most of his birds were level 8, with exception to silver, level 3. How was that possible? Suffice to say, I had NO chance against him, as most of my birds are currently at levels 5 and 6.
Sutekh137@sutekh137I’ve never seen anything quite like that, usually more like what I saw this morning. This morning I faced a team with three 5s, two 4s, a 7 and a 6 (all my birds are level 5). The average, then, for my opponent was about 5.14 — a tiny advantage. He was level 8 in terms of stars.
Not sure what the star level has to do with things, but I find when I face someone of a much smaller star level (I am at 27) I usually win. Not sure why that is, though. Star level has nothing to do with the damage multiplier, right?
In summary, I am still clueless about how the Arena system decides who we face off against, and also clueless about what final score the system sets up for us to beat. Some battles seem really easy (even when I am just playing poorly), and for others I still lose after striking 4 times and then having a few birdies (close score, but I still lose…). OK, it’s true, there is probably one room in there where I three-bird it…
Thanks,
sutekh137
Sutekh137@sutekh137And while it will sound like I care, I don’t, really. I have too many stars to be in the bottom three (so won’t get demoted like I wanted — three people stayed right at zero while I was dumb enough to get five stars!) and am not even going to reach gem-award levels now that I have started playing more.
But sometimes these battles really irk me. I just did a battle where I did: SSBBSBS (S means strike, B means birdie), and I lost, BADLY. Opponent had 4 million while I had 2.7 million. If it had been a live fight, the opponent would have gotten 7 or 8 stars. And that’s without using three birds for any room (I did about the best I could given my bird distribution…). I didn’t expect to win with three birdies, but I doubt I would have won had I only had one birdie.
Second battle I get six stars by going SSS3SSS (one three-birder). Three-birding is BAD NEWS, yet I win handily.
So, maybe I do care, not about doing well this time in the arena (I will be sure not to even TOUCH the Arena next time so that I can get demoted *smile*), but about understanding how battle scoring works. Feels a bit too random on a game that already has a fair amount of luck as far as how much damage any given strike will do…
Thanks,
sutekh137
bigbadaboom@bigbadaboomStar level is basically the experience/skill of your opponent. Low star players will, on average, have lower scores.
Sutekh137@sutekh137Then why am I being matched up against them? That’s the whole part of the opponent match-up I don’t understand, especially since I have heard you can kill the AB2 process before joining the battle, get back in, and get a different person to face.
That can be exploited, then, to only face people of a very low level if the matching algorithm brings such weak teams in. If Rovio knows average scores from saved play-throughs, why not match to an opponent whose average scores are closer to mine (and then which actual play-through does it pit me against?)
Still more questions than answers, IMO…
Thanks,

Aeshna@aeshnaThanks for the screen shot john3800 (after posting this, noticed john’s post had gone!-hence re-editing). And I’ve too had players that have some birds with blank feathers and other birds at levels 5,6 and 7, sutekh137.
I am prepared to apologise for this statement when proven wrong, but players with such a large disparity are in my mind, either generated at random by Rovio or are cheaters. I can’t see any other way that players have birds at such different levels, even after allowing for randomness and variables of receiving feathers.
Preparing to stand corrected here! But explanation would be nice. Not holding breath though……
Jon S@jon3800@aeshna Its possibly editing or may have been deleted. I will repost it.
Honestly, I think they are generating players at random. I mean, why can’t I battle against the people on my existing tournament list rather than fighting against players that I am sometimes no match for. Currently I have 70 stars and I’m in 4th place in the Azure league and my birds are more leveled up than the person in 1st place with levels 5-6. I never pay for extra entries. I play the free entry and watch a video for the 2nd one, and will sometimes exchange between my Iphone 5S and Ipad Air since they’re not really in-sync. Other than that, I wait the 3hrs.
As for my unknown player, I’m contemplating that the bird levels he got may have been cheated. At star level 9, you’re not even close into the main game. The only explanation I can offer is that the player might have learned how to farm in level 9 which can attribute to the level 8’s birds (he probably max out Red, Blues, and Chuck) and proceeded to play until the 40s to unlock Terence. Either way I’m farming for red gifts right now at level 9 (the real way to get a decent amount of feathers (100)), and I seem to have a somewhat equal distribution of feathers with exceptions for Chuck, Blues and Silver which is on that screenshot
Jon S@jon3800My older reply may have been deleted, but I’ll give it a go
sutekh137, Thanks for the reply
Here’s another interesting player with HUGE disparity between the bird levels and stars. I took a picture of it.
I’m on the left at star level 23 with all 400 levels 3 starred. Most of my birds are at Emerald and Amethyst status since I’ve been farming for the past 3 days on level 9 (thanks to Where to get Gifts Thread).
I battled this player on Pigsyland. We both cleared about 6 rooms..I scored around 3.4 million, where as he got around 2.5 million and was awarded 6 stars.
I don’t think the star levels have to do anything with the battle except give you rewards. I was able to beat a level 39 player just barely and I believe he had level 5-6 birds, and used all powerups
Jon S@jon3800Forgot to add
Some rewards you get when you’re leveling your star rank are good (which I was told premiums are awarded every 5th level), others rewards in between were really pathetic (when I leveled to 23, my hard work got paid off with a whopping a big whopping 3 gems. WOW LOL).
Aeshna@aeshnaI just do not understand this! These must be modified accounts.
(EDIT) :
It gets worse!
First screen shot is from a player I encountered today at 12:19
I’ve just meet them again!Look at how their silver has jumped up 2 levels, but no other birds have increased theirs and they still have two birds with no feathers at all.
No other explanation than this player cheats.
(ANOTHER EDIT): and three hours later we meet again in the arena. I thought opponents were random?
So, that’s three times in three consecutive arena’s I’ve played against this one, and thirty stars to me!
AndalayBay@andalaybayYeah that player must have a cracked game. There’s no way you could get to level 25 (on the map) and have legitimate access to the arena without unlocking all the birds.
Jon S@jon3800I agree, Doesn’t make sense that you can participate in the arena without the complete flock when it’s unlocked at after completing level 50. Oh well, it’s an easy 10 stars for us then. Sometimes I wish Rovio would listen to us fans and fix the arena and these random players instead of constantly adding 20 levels each update
Jon S@jon3800I highly suspect that he might have a cracked game that has unlimited amount of gems and he can spend 80 gems opening premium treasures to his heart’s content. It is possible to gain 250 feathers in one chest, but you’d be needing to spend a lot of gems because it’s random. Also with fewer birds that you’ve unlocked, it’s probably more likely to get feathers for the birds you want. Star rank 5 should be accurate since my facebook friends are at the same rank (pig city level 25), but they have all level 1 birds.
2) He’s been repeatedly farming at level 9 (which is where I’m powering up my birds) but it’s not possible to gain 2400 feathers in 3 short hours. Since I last post 2 days ago… I’ve spent farming and upgraded my flock to Amethyst with 2 of them (Blues and Matilda) approaching Diamond
AndalayBay@andalaybay@jon3800, I just installed AB 2 fairly recently and started over. The arena became available at level 25. Even at that, I had unlocked all birds by then.
