Welcome to the Angry Birds Challenge! Every day there will be a new level selected for you to play (get involved and
let us know what levels you want to see as challenges here). Play for fun or use it as an excuse to improve your current score. A great goal is to try and beat the
"Average" score below. Already done that? Then pork up and try to fling your way into the
"Top 50"! Done that too?! Then take on the ultimate task and shoot for the
"Highscore"! There is also a layer of competition here, as this page
is connected to the leaderboard, so if you can improve your score you may also improve your rank. That said,
don't enter lower scores here.

Update for Angry Birds: As of 1-Apr-2023, top scores from either version of Angry Birds – Original or Rovio Classics (recently renamed to Red’s First Flight) – are eligible for an Underdog badge. Therefore, it doesn't matter which version you play, as long as it beats the Highscore posted on the Challenge page. Score proof rules apply to both versions.
Ho ho ho! A holiday badge to spread some holiday cheer. Available only during the Advent Challenge Days. To be eligible festive flingers must beat the Top Score on that day's Advent Challenge. To validate the score simply leave a screenshot from your 3-star tally page showing the score, along with a basic strategy on the walkthrough page! There will be only ONE HollyDog* awarded per player during the Advent Challenge, no matter how many times the top score is beaten (does not count towards Club Underdog).
* Note - Since many flingers already have a HollyDog badge, we are looking into changing the award system a bit. Please stay tuned, but keep on flinging!

Interesting. The link for the daily of Cold Cuts 2-16 leads to Rio Smugglers Den 2-6. I wonder which is the right daily challenge? :D
And the high score, average score, and your personal posted score are also from Rio Smugglers Den 2-6 . A mystery indeed!
Major glitch tonight. Looks like the Leaderboard is pulling from Rio’s LB. I’ve sent BL a message, but for now, I have no idea what should be done. I’d recommend not entering scores for either level.
According to the ABN Twitter feed, we burnt through 6 levels in less than a minute.
The admin says that it should be cold cuts, but I’m not able to do anything about leaderboard coding.

Why can’t Facebook players can’t enter the high scores :(. I feel so discriminated that i don’t own Ipad or android things…. very disappointed
It’s been all the time, that the levels are not available on all platforms. Even when I’m playing on PC, I can’t take part to all the challenges, ’cause all the levels are not available on PC neither, even when people have paid for it :)
Gameplay on Facebook is too significantly different. It would be unfair to mix those scores.
You could download the full version of the game for PC from Rovio’s shop.
Why mix? Just add new (FB) category. When you enter score you “tick” box that this score is made with FB version. and FB gets their one “leaderboard”.
Right now there is another issue – Rovio released AB Friends also on apple and android and doing weekly tournaments level is very often visible that apple/andriod version gets (mush) higher scores…
It shouldn’t be so hard to add platform tickbox on dialogue when you enter score – and have leaderboards for different platforms.

But what would be the point in that? A score achieved by usin PU’s are not allowed. There already is a leaderboard for FB scores so what would that change?
Sorry but there are many “duplicate” issues that prevent us from creating separate leaderboards from separate platforms. At this time, Facebook users will not be permitted to enter scores from. poached eggs or mighty hoax.
… and Facebook players Star Wars Tatooine and Deathstar scores too :(

Question: how is the daily challenge chosen? I can see in some threads that challenge levels can be repeated. Just curious if it is a random drawing or . . . .? Any enlightenment available?
I randomly choose the levels from a large master list. I try to remove any levels that are prone to any sort of self-destruction or glitches.
Hey what the heck! The challenge is over before 10 pm est? 945 pm now. Database update causing screwiness?
And this is the 3rd or 4th time PE 1-5 has appeared as the Challenge level.

Accidentally forgot to adjust for daylight savings time after the server issues. Should be back to normal tomorrow.
I just got another notification about new leader on today’s challenge. Looks like I misunderstood its meaning the first time. I thought it was sent when the top score on challenge was beaten. But now I see it is actually about new best score on the improved list. This is useful too, thanks admins.
@birdleader – could you give more details about the new notification? Who is it sent to? To everyone or only to those who are currently on the improved list? I suppose it is the latter.
@annach We will likely write a full explanatory post on Monday. I may try to draft something today or tomorrow, but I don’t have ALL the details about how it will (does?) work. Perhaps it’s a little comfort, but as I recall, we built in some safety measures to prevent users from getting heavily spammed.
And as always, this can be disabled under your personal notifications. We think it will be useful for the Challenge enthusiasts though.

Hey @annach — Thew notification is currently sent to all challenge participants when a new highscore is posted (this particular notification is not connected to the actual leaderboard, so it only pertains to the #1 score on the challenge). It’s only sent after ten people have entered scores. This number is configurable, so it may change in the future. The purpose is to prevent sending out too many notifications when the challenge first starts, as the top score typically changes quite often.
As always, if you have suggestions or concerns I’d love to hear them.

@birdleader – thank you! It is a very good idea to wait until a certain number of people entered the scores. Another possibility is to limit it by time. For example, send notifications only during the second half of the challenge or only during the last 6 hours, when it is more difficult to get to the top of the list. Anyway, the way it is set up now seems reasonable, I got only one notification for today’s challenge so far. Thank you for inventing new ways to make the competition more interesting.
@Birdleader as one of the aforementioned Challenge enthusiasts I think this an awesome idea! I received a notification this afternoon, sometime between 1-3pm (EST) about a new leader, even though there hadn’t been a change, so I’m not sure why, but I also received one when there was a new leader later on.
Thank you for making things more interesting, & likely more competitive. This will undoubtedly draw me back in for just a “few more flings” every time :)

Regarding the time you received a notification but there was no new leader. I think this might happen when the score is removed by an admin before the player has a chance to check. I may have to figure out how to remedy this, but not sure how at the moment.
@Birdleader i actually wasn’t aware of this feature until tonight..i actually was just flinging away when i got notification..i didn’t even realize it was a challenge level.so i think this feature is great!!! More incentive to keep flinging for higher score and of course a puppy lol;) i would have moved on if not for notice:) great idea:)

@amslimfordy it has resolved itself. I have never seen that before. I was viewing the page via iPad FWIW but idk if it mattered.
Hmm.. Maybe that’s why I got a message that Karen68 was in first place; I was probably in last place at the time. I came here to complain about everyone getting a notice every time someone took over first place!
Is everyone in the challenge getting a notification when there is a new top score? I got 5 e-mails this morning, and I’m no where close to the top. I don’t think I was last either, which may have been the case the last time when I got a bunch of notifications.
@mvnla2 if you have entered a score on the Leaderboard and it is the daily challenge you will get a notification. You also get a notification if you have a top score and someone beats that score!! :)
@mvnla2 if you don’t want to get those notification you can go to your setting and under notification mark no next to the items you wish not to receive emails about. :)
@mvnla2 @sunshine Just to clarify a little bit. If you appear on the “Improved List” for the Daily Challenge and a new player move atop the “Improved List”, you will be notified. There are some logic checks in place to keep you from getting spammed, but @BirdLeader would need to chime in about those.
I’d like to state what is nicer if you have 30+ or 50+ players playing for the challenge because a level is not on PC. There are still many other levels to pick from. Any feedback is welcome I’m just saying ;-)
Challenge levels are picked long in advance. We are not responsible for universal availability.
Can anyone tell me if PU’s are allowed in the Challenge? I got a very high score but I’m not sure if it’s allowed. Thanks.
@steinbird PU scores aren’t allowed on the Challenge, it uses the regular leaderboards which don’t allow power-ups. Sorry :(

Hi Thank you for the reply Karen88, I’m glad I asked. I used an SS on the white bird and shot him under the first swing, then released him into the clouds (just like one of the normal strats) and it just blew everything to pieces with just the one bird. 118K. It was, however, awesome fun to watch!
@AMSlimfordy — True, there are a lot of the AB greats at the top of the leaderboard, and I’m sure they didn’t use PUs, but at least half the names in the top 20 are unknown to me. How sure are you that none of them used PUs?
@mvnla2 We can’t but (for the umpteenth time) I have no idea what other measures you would want us to do. Close the boards completely?
Sorry for being such a pain, especially if your vacation hadn’t worn off yet. I know it would be extremely time consuming if you had to do it manually. I suppose I was hoping maybe you checked the top 5 on the challenge I also keep hoping you’ll say that Rovio is going to make direct uploads available so PU scores can be automatically checked.
I have a feeling that the Daily Challenge will be a bit quieter over the next couple of weeks. I know I won’t have time for it. My attempt at a 3rd poochie will just have to wait.
Just made the top score on a daily challenge for the first time. I shot Terrance over the top aiming at the blue crystals as mentioned by others. Second bird from the bottom, exploding the TNT. Last bird unused. I’ll check how to upload my screen shot of the score. I hope I am posting this in the correct place.

here’s an oddball thing that happened…. my score coming into this challenge (airfield chase 10-9) 111,160 is the same my girlfriend got on yesterdays challenge– hamoween 1-10…..exactly !! what are the odds? lol
Before today with 27 (at least) underdog badges to be given out, what was the previous highest number of puppies in a day?
@andy2510 the previous record was 13 set back in March on Path of the Jedi 11. There’s a table listing all the members of Club Underdog in the Badges & Ranking group.

@amslimfordy, on Death Star 2-29 yesterday, I had 14th highest score, and uploaded a screenshot. Somehow I did not recieve the badge so clearly did something wrong, can you explain what I had done wrong so I may do correctly in the future. Thanks @sammer48

@amslimfordy, thanks, my strategy was to shoot for the closest leg under the pile, and immediately fire as in the video to go through the blocks and ricochet back doing more damage. The screenshot was posted in my profile. Appreciate if you award the badge, if not understand. Where do I post the strategy when doing this? Thanks @sammer48

Just tried to open Red Planet and discovered all my Space episode scores are gone! Restarted my iPhone but still no scores. Any ideas? Ireally don’t want to have to play every single Space episode and level again…

@AMslimfordy just FYI the clock on the challenge needs adjusting. Since the time change on the weekend it’s reading 0 time left for the last hour & it starts at 23 hours remaining.
Funny, how the challenge can open your eyes. Looked at my scores for Danger Zone and became nuts. Can’t remember when this episode is launched, but obviously I dud a 3-star round on my own (as aslways). Never looked st comments or video’s – not speaking about average scores. It’s terrible, horrible. So in the next period I have to work on this.
@birdleader Something strange happened: yesterday evening i played the daily challenge level, ABO Danger Above 7 2, and had the highest score of the day at the moment i entered it (152440) and went to bed. Today i was checking the leaderboard of that level, curious to see how others had fared, but my score was nowhere to be found? (Probably easily overcome by entering the score again, but if it’s an unintended side-effect of the maintenance it may affect others as well?)
@vuelva I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but we lost a few hours worth of data yesterday during some server maintenance. Your scores must of got caught in the crossfire. Please feel free to add back to the LB. Sorry.
thanks for the quick reply. sorry to hear that. hope everything is under control again. for myself it’s no problem (a single score), and something similar will probably hold for almost all others (is there a way to alert users? sending e-mail to all would probably be overkill, and targeting only users logged in then probably not available (no data …), something on the site?).
This is a long story, but I don’t know how to shorten it and still explain everything. I downloaded the new update to AB, Short Fuse. OK……I understand the Short Fuse contest, and that power-ups are not permitted. In the details about the contest here on the Nest, it states that power-up scores will show up on the score tallying screen with a lightning bolt so they can be differentiated. Today, I played the challenge level Ham ‘Em High 14-6. Apparently the new Shockwave power-up is now available on all levels. The game gave me a screen where it said I got free Shockwave power-ups. All I really wanted to do was get rid of the screen and play the game, but it seemed like the easiest or maybe only way to do that was to just click for the free power-ups even though I didn’t really want them, so that is what I did. Then, it automatically gave me the Shockwave bomb to use. At this point, I was curious as to what it did since I didn’t play Short fuse yet and I used the Bomb bird. On some other game, I don’t remember which one, the game kept bugging me to use a TNT drop. I thought maybe if I used up all the free ones that they gave me they would stop bugging me to use it. (not so) Anyway, on that game both scores were subsequently shown, the power-up score with a lightning bolt and the regular score without. So……I wasn’t concerned about trying the power-up. What I have now showing on Ham ‘Em High 14-6 is a score of 136,930. This was done with the power-up, but there is no lightning bolt or anything else that says it is not a legitimate score. I can play the game again and nothing shows up on the tallying screen other than the 136,930 score with no lightning bolt. Now I can no longer keep track of my high non power-up score, and I can’t try for an Underdog badge today because I have no way of proving my score. Is there anything I can do short of deleting the whole game and starting over?

To completely disable Power Ups so you won’t be prompted, go to the front title screen, click the gear, then the lightning bolt.
Unfortunately, we can’t remove that score. But you can always take screenshots as you go of each “clean” score you obtain. Also, if you’re really concerned, you can send an email to contest (at) angrybirdsnest (dot) com with your data files (.lua) and we can take a look. :)
Thanks for the disable tip @amslimfordy. Too bad it doesn’t take the annoying things off the screen completely. If I get lucky on the challenge today, I’ll make sure to take a screenshot before I leave the tally screen. No need to mess with the data files for one level.
@AMslimfordy @BirdLeader — So does this mean that you’re sure the ABS Arctic Expedition will be available on IOS on Sat? Or are we going to have a challenge that only Android users can play?
iOS update won’t likely land until Monday morning. We think Apple employees have a 4-day weekend.

@AMSlimfordy @BirdLeader — Right now I am 47 on the improved list, but not on the leaderboard list. There seem to be some people on the leaderboard list who aren’t on the improved list, which seems odd, given that I think this contest started immediately when the episode was released on Android?
@mvnla2 The Challenge didn’t start until 7PM PST; the leaderboard was live earlier than that.
Wish I’d known – I put my score in at 12.20am UK time this morning – I would of held off for a bit if I knew!!!

Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t understand how we have a daily challenge that is not available to all participants. Seems you either have to be in a different time zone, or pay to open up the levels.
