Our strategy for Angry Birds Star Wars Moon of Endor level 5-17 is to be sneaky and ignore the fancy new drum element. Instead, sneak Luke under the nearby branch and slice away at the tower beyond. Using the drum is very difficult to manage a 1-bird clear, while this method is more consistent. The score in the video below is 46,000.
Please note: Any screenshots for underdog proof other than the initial 3-star tally high score will no longer be accepted. Do not replay this level to obtain the 3-star tally screenshot with your original high score beneath the current score.
Actually the drum can be also bought down by the saber by flinging Luke a bit above the mid air rock and using the saber to cut the rope. This also gives a 1-birder easily.
My strategy is similar but slightly different than video. Basically the same first bird, except that I had Luke light saber the log while passing under it. Gave me what is (for a brief moment LOL) the top score.
Correction. Replayed my strategy and realize mine is a differentt first shot actually. I bump into the log about 2/3 of the way down it, saber it and it comes loose and bumps into the structure. Knocks everything over just like the vid, but gave me more points.
Exactly like your description! Top Score for now, but doubt it will stand long… THX!!!
Thx for the strat. Once I was at 47k after the first shot….and 1 pig left! Raaaaah which means high score can be achieved.

Glad it helped! I love watching the log turn into a battering ram :)
Thank you @furfeather! The strategy worked great!
excellent strat @furfeather! Always best to hurl something heavy at a structure to bring it down. I’d been playing with this but hadn’t managed a 1-birder until I saw you’d aimed a bit more precisely :)
Thanks, this helped a lot.
ggrrrrrrrrrrrrr while here to improve my 48610 I was trying @furfeather strategy & accidentally released bird #2. Just before it hit, I noted the score of 35k with no piggies remaining. Had I not goofed & I mean royally goofed, the 20k in bonus birds would have given me a score of 55k : -(. It was a TopScore ….LOUDLY WHINES
I eventually managed to improve to 52270 thanks to furfeather, but I’m going to keep flinging, because I’m not a happy camper
@furfeather thank you for sharing, after struggling to get above average your strat did the trick.
@furfeather thanks for the great strat – a lot of rinse & repeat, and finally improved my score. :)
@karen68 R&R doesn’t even Begin to describe this level!! Boooooooriinng lol, I’ll be coming back to this one can’t stand the same shoot over and over and over and over….. You have more patience than i:(
I even tried aiming for the drum a few times knowing it doesn’t score as much lol, just to break up the monotony:!
Mine is slightly different than @furfeather ‘s. I have been sending Luke to hit the log near the top, right where the double ropes wrap around the log and strike his saber upon impact. The log will push forward, splitting in half just before impact crashing both pieces of the log into the structure pushing everything right.
@lesleyg, didn’t had the perstistance – yet – to work this strat through. It works perfect, although the right pig often stays alive. So actually, used the same strat. It’s a little creepy, don’t you think?
lol @bernersenn ;-))) Ya know what they say…It’s those “Great Minds” at work again :-D
this strat worked 4 me, thanks @AngryAdvisor! played around with the placement, used the lights in the background as cues

many thx to @lesleyg for the strat.

54750 with one bird.
Same strategy as @@lesleyg. Thank you ;-)
Here is the final result.
And this is the highscore screenshot.
All the screenshots are also available in high res here in one set.

54850 with one bird.
Same strategy as before, @lesleyg style. Slightly more lucky.
I only have the highscore screenshot, because the last 30 points were late to come ;-)
Here it is: highscore screenshot.

Joining the group using this strat today. Two additional comments. I aimed slightly above the ropes at the top of the log as described below by @stilly and I used a gentle pull back on the sling rather than a hard pull back, to give more control on the timing of saber activation. @sweetp

Flying over to hit the drum is so much more fun, but cutting down the log gives more points. Each time the drum is hit the Ewoks jump up – love it! But I attained my score by going through the log as per @furfeather.
@bird-addict I know why the Ewoks are jumping up! I think they are happy because their friends have just been set free. It looks to me like Ewoks are trapped in the drum and jump out when it is destroyed. It that isn’t correct, what are those things coming out of the drum?
Wow, I never looked close enough to notice that!
I didn’t have any trouble with the alternate method just aim for the top of the drum and saber before impact the drum falls and Luke bounces into the tower got 3 starts first try
I got 53,550 with a bloated Luke. I was trying to fit Luke between the top of the log and the rock and then activate closer to the first structure. Instead, I hit the very top of the log and didn’t activate at all. The log tipped into the first structure and gave me a good score. Maybe because the undamaged log is heavier???? It isn’t a real easy shot, but I did repeat it again for another good score.
Thanks for getting me out of the cellar in the Challenge today @wilee-bird.
I reached 3 stars by having Luke fly in middle angle to the drum and use the light saber just at the moment of hitting it, which will make the drum fall down and at the same time likes hits the lower right corner of the left tower, where its made from glass. Scored 46.380 points! :-)
The first seven tries or so with the video strat, I was left with everything to the right of the first bldg. I tried aiming as close to the log as possible on the way down and delaying the saber until after the bounce and I got a lucky three star. I say lucky because the next ten attempts were unsuccessful. Granted, that’s a small data pool, but it’s more than two, lol.
i send luke middle of hanging wood, activate when hit,
the wood break and fly to the right.

I aimed Luke about two pixels above the top of front of the top of the two rope bundles. I swung very slightly before contact with the log. Swinging before contact allows the rope to be destroyed before the log gets pushed so that the rope won’t encumber the log’s forward progress.
If it goes right, the log is cracked but initially heads towards the structure as a single entity. Gravity starts to separate the two sections of log, then Luke hits the bottom part, pushing it faster to the ground. It plants and the top half falls on it, and if things go right again it falls forward quite a ways with the assistance of the bottom long, crushing everything in its path.
If the pigs on the right get jostled loose by all of this mess, then you’ve got a high score!
Please read the NOTE comments at the top of this page. If it isn’t clear, here is an example of what is no longer acceptable as proof for the underdog:

Thank you!

Got ya @Sweetp thanks for the noitce 😉
@Joakim, welcome to the Nest, and congrats on the puppy. Also for the video, but it’s not necessary to record gameplay that’s a duplicate of the strategy already posted, just for the tally 3-star screen like @comex666‘s. It takes up bandwidth, so videos are best when they show a different strategy than the ones in the walkthrough.
Therefore, the screenshot of just the 3-star tally is all we need to show proof, as written in the challenge rules.
Thank you for joining us birdie flingers, and happy pig-hunting!
@admins
ok understood, thanks for letting me know :)
