Our strategy for Red Planet level 5-9 is to launch Orange towards the upper right pile of blocks, using the north side of the small planet. The flying debris will trigger a chain reaction that should destroy all the pigs.

One bird solution ( video ).
Took a few tries, but I got it finally with one bird using your solution. Thanks!
Funny!!! i got nearly the Same Score but i get it with all 3 Birds. Nearly all Blocks are Smashed. My Score 140.680 :-)
This is exactly what I’ve been trying..but with not nearly enough destruction..:(
Any extra tips as to exact aiming tapping points..or should I let him explode himself @yuriyigolkin?
Can be used to guide the nearest star, which is two o’clock. However, it is on the ipad, but on android, maybe it is not.
…just below the star.
Thanks @yuriyigolkin, just below the star :)
I got 136K with two birds, so if you miss that top far left helmet pig with the first shot, give it another go (I shot the second bird just to the left of him).
I had a 139090 with one bird, then later 139800 with a two bird clear.
So if you have around 112K to 116k, and still have a pig left, go for it.
You’re right. In fact, I was slightly less than 110K with one helmet pig (top) remaining. Went for it and got my highest score yet and three stars. Frustrating but fun level.
WOOHOO!! Top score with 142820! For now, anyway. Am sure it won’t last long, but the Twymeister will enjoy the feeling while it lasts.
@skowse oh man! Ya got me. Didn’t take long at all. (big sigh) Back to the old flinging board! Congrats, skowse
@twylatime did you use the video’s strategy or another :-)
Glad you’re happy of course. My 141k was about similar to video shot.
@z0z0, I hadn’t looked at the video yet, when I did this, but yeah, pretty much the same. Such fun to watch everything blow up
isn’t it!
This surely is a fun level to watch @twylatime. The red-planet has got a couple of levels that give variation every time you play it.
My initial 3* clear(136350) was one bird with 133K points. I went back for the biggest pile of debris left to get it over the 135K mark.
141.950 with the same strategy
I just put in my scores and i saw that i have the top score for thus one hiw do i prove it
We wild greatly appreciate a screenshot and a description of how you obtained the score.
Congrats!!!
Followed the instructions as in the video and got 151k. I want to upload the score (screen), but don’t know how
Looks like you figured it out :)
I’ve done this level over 100 times. A 1 birdie is pretty easy, but I still haven’t managed 3 stars yet.
Frustrating.
Personal Victory!!! This was the last level of the Red Planet that I needed to get an “above average” score on. I was stuck at 140050 for days which was 497 points below average. How frustrating was that!!! I came back this morning and finally got 141510 and am so happy to be done with this! Now I can move on the the space bonus levels which I find very fun. Alot of the Red Planet levels, IMO, are based on luck but also, an unusual point calculating system. For example, on this level when I got the 141510, there looked to me like there was more debris left over then when I got 139K & 140K scores. There seems to be quit a few levels like this in this episode. Anyone else notice that?
btw…I got my score using the same strat as walkthrough which is also like yuriyigolken’s video posted on first comment. Getting OB in deep is key as well as getting the crystal, which is exactly the same way I played the first 200 times, lol..this time it just worked ;-)
Wtg AA, I agree with a lot of interesting scoring for RP. Sometimes I wonder if it’s based on a random number generator ;-)
@lesleyg …where are my bread crumbs? I’m a hungry birdie..lol
How’d ya do it..? You can’t ditch me now :(
lol @kathy…I did leave the bread crumbs! I did it exactly like yuriyigolkin’s video…but here’s your more detailed translation…If you have the screen in full view so that you can see the whole thing, zoomed out I guess it’s referred to as…there is a bright star outside the gravity circle around 10 o’clock ( top left of outside the circle) and inside the gravity circle is a bright star (not as bright as the first) right at 12 o’clock (high top middle). I aimed OB to enter the gravity circle at the point lined up with the first bright star mentioned and have it pass through the second star mentioned inside the gravity circle. This should allow OB to enter the right pile where the stanted thin blue ice plank and little wood square meet so that he can push through to land as deep as possible by the small blue ice square and I let him expand on his own. From there it’s just a matter of luck to get the cyrstal and enough debris points and have two pieces of the firey asteroid explode in the top right structure. I found that if only one firey piece landed in the top structure, I didn’t get enough debris points. I had lots of trouble with this level. It’s just very random and you just have to keep playing it over and over until it decides it’s time for you to get an above average score, lol…you know these levels have a mind of their own ;-) GL..I really hope it helps…let me know ;-)
I’m a few months behind but that was a truly great explanation @lesleyg. I agree that the destruction is truly random on several levels in RP. Thank you for all your wonderful comments.
Thank you @mg516 ;-)))
Thanks @lesleyg for the posts. Seems that activation just prior to hitting the small ice square on the upper right debris pile provided this score. Also had three of the fiery asteroids land in the top left debris pile which added 2k over my previous score of 138k.
I zoomed in and used two stars that fade in and out around the 12 o’clock position for the aiming points. Moved the laser points slightly around these points for the best shot.
This level did provide a good challenge but sometimes luck (or the planned and calculated flight of debris) does come into play in obtaining an average score.
Hi @wrw01 ;-) So good to see you!!! You’re welcome! I read your comment and against my better judgment, due to my own previous comments…gave this level a few flings, and it is as difficult as I remember, The stars are no longer aligned, haha ;-)…It seems the “stars” I previously mentioned, have changed…cause I see my original “10 o’clock-outside the gravity circle” star tip…but I don’t have a “12 o’clock, inside the gravity circle” star anymore? I do have a 10:30/11:00 star inside the gravity circle…so it just makes me wonder if things have changed due too an update(?) I still play on the same original iPad…and I know everyone’s screens can vary…but it seems “My” 12 o’clock star has shifted to 10:30/11:00, tee hee…none the less, I’m glad if I did help you at all…I will say that on my current try…I managed 140K by lining up the “original” outside bright 10 o’clock star with the now…lighter, inside the gravity field star at 10:30/11:00 ;-)
Disclaimer: Pay no attention to this mess of a strat, hahaha…if I didn’t no me…or was a newer member…I’d be thinking what “Liam” used to say about me, TeeHeeHaHaHa…@Kathy, you’ll get this joke…and perhaps @sal9 will too, HAHAHAH ;-) It’s always good to laugh at yourself…please feel free to join in :-D
Is anyone else having trouble with bird releas before alming..he just flies off slingshot before I can aim correctly ..or blows up :(
I don’t get this. My 142k is the best I can do after hundreds and hundreds of flings and yet 142 people have done better? This is nuts. Am I missing some trick?
I’m still trying to figure out the trick as well @dougwo. There are not many, if any levels of AB that I have played more than this one. I’ve been putting a lot of time in shooting the first bird into the upper pile and seemed to have better scores than when shooting into the right pile first. But I’m about to switch and hope I get that one run where the exploding fireballs take out everything for a huge score, similar to the video by @yuriyigolkin in the first post.
I just scored a 153,960. Don’t ask how tho, as I can’t repeat it..
It did take some time..
and not to rub insult..lol… I did it with just one bird…
Just posted a new high score of 154,470 (my first by a long shot). The key seemed to be burying OB deep in the right side by going through the two little square wood blocks. That blows everything out and usually takes all the piggies out with good destruction.
I didn’t get a screenshot of the destruction because, well, I didn’t know how on my phone. But I do have a verification screen on Dropbox here:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/entr98mc00eqnk4/2012-10-22%2019.10.30.png
When you try to shoot the upper block first try to make it without sploding the center. Then shoot the right lock ike in the video. if ir works you get the 3 stars
Thank You !!!!!! :-)
I’ve been trying this as per the vid for an hour, and reading the comments above for tips, and you’re the first one to give an alternate way.
First try, I finally got over 135,000 (only by 250, but I’ll take it)
One-bird solution, provided 129,250.
Then managed a two-bird solution, provided 140,630.
Strange.
After 100s of attempts and not exceeding 145k, it was 2 horrible flings that resulted in a high score. First bird fell flat on the right side but did just enough damage that I didn’t instantly reset. Second bird crash landed in the top and bounced back into the flaming balls of death. My chuckle grew into a laugh as the lava rained down.
my crappy shots gave me 140K after an hour of 1 star scores. mine destroyed the right area per video, except Lady Luck deserted me (or so i thought) and all the debris somehow missed the flaming death balls. I got mad and just flung the second bird straight ahead and KABLOOEY!!!!
@burpie where did you fling the second bird? Please lol ;)
@kathy I remember typing that two years ago but I don’t remember what the aiming point was to achieve that lucky bounce. After I achieved 156k I was instantly done with the level… I didn’t continue to practice the shot.
Thanks @burpie guess I’ll just wait for lady luck:/ i didn’t expect you’d remember but thought I give it a shot:)
@catsnbirds Any details on what you did to get your 150k score will be greatly appreciated, at least by me. This level has always been my nemesis, and I have never been able to figure tou what to do with this level. Thanks!
@sglouk I wish I had a magic shot to share with you for this level, but it was the same one bird shot everyone has used. Like the walkthrough, like @yuriyigolkin ‘s video. I just flung it over, and over, and over while in some kind of Angry Bird trance until it suddenly all came together! Good luck!
@catsnbirds
You mean that one can reach 150k with a single bird? Wow, I am unsure I ever got 142k this way. I was hoping that you would have found out a sweet spot that allows to obtain @burpie‘s elusive 2-bird solution at a reasonable rate instead.
@sglouk it is as @catsnbirds described. I just got over 150k with one bird. Just sending Orange slightly within the gravity field of the group of lava balls and boulders straight ahead and it finally dug deep within the right side debris. It takes 2 – 3 of the lava balls to go to the top cluster of debris to finally start getting higher scores. Getting the sparkly jewel thing adds another 3k so that is also important. This one is really based on luck after resetting over and over again. I did get as high as 139 with 2 birds, but much over that has to be with one bird only.
Video from @crazy72rider shows 149k with a single bird using the same shot.
http://youtu.be/lZSOGFEaWKI
I know Red Planet has some interesting scoring, but this level has to be the strangest.
The best I’ve done today is 141k with 2 birds & that was my only above-average score in an hour of flinging.
Hi guys ;-) I love the “Space” levels in general and decided to give the Challenge a go…and then I came to the level and remembered it all too well, haha ;-)
@karen68 – Oddly enough the best I’ve done in an hour or so of flinging on and off actually got me an improved score of 145750! I was pretty surprised that I improved twice with two birds! I believe I started in the 141- 142K range and twice now I improved, first to 143Kish to my high of 145750 with TWO birds! I too saw the post from @burpie – which was the only reason I even went ahead and sent a second bird before resetting ;-D
@sglouk – I feel your pain…but…you’re score is very respectable so maybe not a Puppy…but definitely worthy! I am with you…I still find this level as “odd” or “hateful”, Tee Hee ;-)
@lesleyg I can see why you remembered this level! My best 1-birder was only 140k, but I finally managed a 1k improvement up to 145k using 2 birds. Then called it quits on this one :D
@karen68 – Thanks for the “clarification” on several things here, haha ;-) I haven’t had a chance to be very active here lately as I’d like…but sometimes, when I take a “peek”…and I see you’ve commented…I can’t help but take an “EXTRA peek!!!
@karen68 @gypsybird OK, thanks. This is more or less what I had been trying to do for days prior to the challenge, but without success. I had deduced from this that there had to be an easy 2-bird solution to get this (send 1st bird as in vid and then hope that no debris ignite the fireballs, then send 2nd bird north), but expected outcome of 1st shot was too rare as well to give hope for good scoring. So, I’ll try again and again.
@sglouk I see by your score (152220) that the lava finally fell your way. Congrats!
@catsnbirds
Thanks! I finally made a two bird solution, by slightly changing my first shot so that (self) activation occur when OB is not as deep as it can go on a more straightforward trajectory. This way, the odds that no debris ignite the fire asteroid are greater, and I could have an excellent 2nd shot. But even if I ever improve my 152k, I’ll definitely hate this level!
Too late for the challenge, but I made it!
https://www.angrybirdsnest.com/members/sglouk/album/picture/17674/
Got 156k twice, first 156180 with one bird, then 156330 with two. Initial shot is the same: OB to NE pile of debris, slightly below upper stone triangle and long stone beam. The trick is where/when to inflate OB. Do it too early (i.e. too much to the left) and some debris will go fast toward central planet, igniting fire asteroids. Not good. Do it too late and you will send too much debris there (although at smaller velocity) for the same outcome. Not good either. Trial and error convinced me that the perfect inflating spot was at the moment when OB made contact with small square ice block. Activation timing was too difficult to me, so I considered another approach: send OB a bit lower, so that it bounces on the small elongated stone part above leftmost pig of pile. Then it goes up (with respect to screen) and follows the standard route, except that it has been slowed down so that (self) activation occurs exactly at the right spot. With this, the subtle activation timing issue is gone, and you can more or less easily restart the level as long as you are not satisfied with the outcome. In any case, either nothing must ignite fire asteroids (2 birds solution), or something ignites them but only after OB has deflated. This can possibly lead you to a one bird solution whose outcome unpredictably depends on how the fiery debris go on the two piles.
On a perfect day, you can get this, although anything above 148k is OK.
https://youtu.be/s03hFP_HRM0
For my top score run, I got an almost perfect destruction of both north and east piles, with one and two debris left, respectively, a much better situation than in the above video, but with one bonus bird less.
(Marked as a new strat because I had not found detailed description of the crucial inflating point.)
@sglouk. Wow! Congrats on the fabulous score and thanks for posting your video. Beautiful execution and results for sure. I just noticed this as I was going through mentions etc today. I get behind with this and even email lately. Sorry you missed the puppy award but you got the trophy and may hold that for a while.
Has this level become more difficult?
