A good strategy for Danger Zone level 8 is to send the Blue birds into the TNT in the top-left. Then loop the Lazer bird to the backside of the larger planet, redirecting through the wiry base. The score in the video below is 65,330.

The trick is to hit the TNT and set off the asteroid into the left structure (and not the top as in the video), a bit luck is needed but than it’s possible with 1 bird!
It’s definitely tricky but doable. Thanks for the tip.
Yes.. Tricky… Only took 10 min… What he means is that you can send part of the big ice asteroid into the *right* stricture, at the bottom.
And instead of “top” I believe he means send ice bird downward into the big asteroid, it falls for 2k extra points, the trick is getting one of the blues to hot the TNT, this usually results in the piece of ice asteroid taking out the bottom structure… The TNT taking out the rest, of course.
by ice bird, you mean the blue birds?
Yes. Finally one bird using this method. Even on the Droid phone. Still can get some more points though!
is there a video of the one birder? cause my shoots always come to low! i mean the debris from the asteroid doesnt kill the pig of the right structure because it onlygets to the small piece of stone above the ice piece! :(
@Andreas189 just keep aiming at the TNT with the blue birds, and occasionally debris will fly upwards and split the blue asteroid, and one of them will fly round to the right structure, and destroy that. Does require quite a bit of luck though! Gl! :)
Used your method and got it on my 5th try. Thanks!
Good way and not too hard to do it, but the ice asteroid always hits the metal blank and nothing happens to the building. Gotta try more…
I got it in one bird on the first try! That was pretty neat.
I don’t know how I did it, but I finally got it in 1 bird. Sent the blue birds in, they blew up the TNT and went everywhere. AWESOME! 71,290!
You can send the blue birds into the support for the rocket tower, this should know it over, explode the dynamite and send some debris into the right structure and knock it down, score was 70,105 with one bird.
Thank you!!
Is it just my device or is there a different gravity field for some of you? I’m using an iPod Touch and it will not let me direct the first b/b in the same direction as in the video.
I don’t believe there are any differences.
I’ll try to post up a couple screen shots of it. It’s definitely different as the farthest left on the two top structures I can aim is in the middle of the two. I’m able to launch the b/b, separate it just after it leaves the slingshot and hit the TNT, but after numerous tries still can’t break 65k using the laser bird for the finish. Waiting for that one lucky shot to clear it with one.
I’m on IPad using SD and also noticed this. I can’t direct the blue birds directly to the TnT, but when it does point to it, it hits the planet the slingshot is on.
Was finally able to get three stars with the above strategy, split the b/b just after it clears the small planet to hit the TNT and hope for a good amount of damage, then l/b to the wire base on the right most structure. Still wondering what’s up with the different gravity field though. Strange…
Have the same problem with iPhone. Then found out u can “lower” the projection by stretching less the Y-stick. Hope this helps
Forgot about doing that… Thanks!
I am so thankful to you for your post! I was having the same problem with my blue birds trajectory line…the slingshot planet is in my line of fire to the tnt…I pulled back and shortened the stretch and it completely helped, thank you so much! One birdie!!!
I cannot obtain the same trajectory as the original video. My BB’s go too high and do not shoot toward the TNT so you are not alone. I am going to try alternate strategy.
If you zoom all the way in instead of being zoomed out you’ll be able to aim in that direction.
same problem with pc
I also sent by blue birds into the TNT, but here’s the tricky part with my methode. If you aim the blue bird just right (I KNOW it’s a one in a million shot, but it happened ones and I knew it was possible) you can release the blue birds before it leaves the first planet. This way you can take the Big boulder down with you and get a extra 2k or 3k. The aim I used was the dotted line points at the grass at South West and then release the bird at the border of the atmosphere. One bird takes the boulder, one or two of the birds go down to the TNT. The Snow ball exploded just right and took out the structure on the South East.
I know… really I know… this is a very tricky shot!
Here’s my video
This is one of the coolest shots I’ve seen in AB. Nice one estar!
That has to be one of the best shots ever, wow. I did it with one bird, but over the top and totally blind luck. I am getting closer to this way, but so far, not there. Awesome job!
Thanks dougwo and wanda!
Feel honoured :)
i was crying when i watched the video so beautiful wow
and i wonderd why is it taking so long to aim until i tried the shot (-:
Wow, what a shot! I too had forgotten about not using the full-strength on the sling shot, that was my face/palm moment on this level.
Good video
i was pulling back to hard on the slingshot. Thought I was shooting the same line as E-Star, but my birds were not going the same way after the split. Softer pull and they just fell in line for me.
Nice shot. I shot a similar one in a million shot. I just don’t have video. I shot the bb up higher than the video split halfway from slingshot and exiting the atmospheres. The top bird went into the small blue ice asteroid bumping the large blue asteroid to slowly drift into the gravitational field. The big blue ice asteroid I turn falls on top of the collapsing large structure (from the other two split birds). When the asteroid splits it sends two smaller ones out in opposite direction around the planet and collide with the smaller structure. This was my one bird shot. I have been trying to reproduce it and have only come close. At least it will give a consistent 68-70k two bird score.
One again great shot.
I like to try 3-star the levels before coming here (in tears) for help from Slim and everyone who has been blessed with creative, scientific minds. I owe you all a lemon meringue pie. Really appreciate all the verbal and visual options you guys and gals offer. And E-Star, for me, a picture is worth a thousand words! Thanks much.
GOt it on the third try like this for 75190. Except for the score, the screen results were almost a duplicate of your video! Thanks!
Finally managed it! Hours and hours attempting it and was ready to give it up. Thanks. Your video is great. Never would have thought of this shot without your help!
Absolutely brilliant. Your commitment and videos have helped me (and countless others) achieve better scores and hours of fun. With this level I found a 1/2 strength shot worked best. The dotted line didn’t quite touch the boulder but after releasing the blue birds at the atmosphere line the bottom bird knocked the boulder down and the others found their way to the top towers and TNT. Like in your video, the explosion caused the snow asteroid to blow up and the rest is history. Score 78950.
@e-star Thank you E-Star for the video!!! Thank you again for developing the alternative stragegy!!! Made it with one bird. Double Wow!
Thank you for the strat @e-star.
@e-star the video is an excellent way to crunch this level.
I tried some different variations as suggested in the reaction. The one I continued on using was a max speed shot, since it’s easy repeatable. I zoomed it to the max and to the left. Dotted line should enter the pig on the left. There is only one you can enter from about west-south-west poition. It should be in between the ‘matchsticks’ on the left. Release and split at the same time.
It took me 20 minutes and 3 succesful tries to gain a 76.9k score.
Wow! E-star! I always love watching your videos but you outdid yourself with this one. That shot is truly a thing of beauty. I got my current score of 71k using @ruudbackus method but I have to try yours now. Try…
@bird-addict nice score i am having a lot of trouble with this one.. The above video is not working and E* video shot is pretty tricky…i will come back to this one @Kimmiecv:)
It’s a bugger of a level @Kathy that’s for sure!! So far I’ve had to use 2 birds, but I’m trying hard to get estars whacky one shot wonder!! So far no go!! ;/
Ow wow! Thanks to a comment down below mentioning me, I was brought back to my vid (which hee hee I also still love watching as I remember the struggle to get the angle just right which is shown in the vid so clearly hahaha) and all the heartwarming comments. I loved reading everyone of them, you are all so kind!
Finally managed with one shot 70980 using the above don’t quite know how but it hit the explosives and then knocked everything down so don’t give up on it would be my advice
What’s with the high score for this level?
@orangebird09 has confirmed his highscores, but unfortunately hasn’t shared his strategy! :)
Be specific, which level?
basically, the ones where you have the top scores, but in particular this one, DZ-16, DZ-24 and CC-26 would be nice! There’s some really impressive score on those ones :)
I may have some very high scores but someone is also higher than me you know
I think what @laurence is saying is, that some of your highscores are a bit far from second in terms of scores.
Basically what @kartflyer said, yeah. It would be nice to know how you got those very high scores! I know they’ve all be confirmed via Slim, so I’m not questioning that those are the scores on your device, just wondering how you got them is all! :)
80200 – Went back to increase scores in Danger Zone.
Using your method, I finally cracked the 80K mark.
Спасибо ! Удар получился как на твоем видео ! 75.050
My universal translator must be broken… say what??
Google translated : Russian to English, Thank you! The impact turned both on your video ! 75.050 ;)
I think its correct translation is, Impact has turned out as on your video!
Is it right zatoloko?
Thanks @vista… I just Googles and he couldn’t make heads or tails of it… didn’t try Google translate though.. wasn’t aware of Google translate, going to google for google translate now :p
@AMslimfordy – highscores #1 and #2 in this level are way too high. I suspect a typo in the case of Stahl and a fake in the case of Luke6of9.
Can’t look now, sorry.
No typo here HappyShake. Slim just asked me today to confirm my score today, so for the curious ones here is my score on my phone: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/855/photomgr.png/
Unfotunately I don’t really remember how I did it. I guess it was the same method, using only one bird and destroying a hell lot of debris. You need some luck for AB sometimes I admit. :)
Cheers
This is a classical 1-Birder, I say classical because if you don’t look for it, you’ll never know. Just send the Blue Bird exactly as on the video, then in about one of every seven tries, one of the icy asteroids comes down, swoops around the tall structure and takes down the structure on the far side along with the hapless pig. If you don’t see the maneuvering asteroid, just keep resetting and you’ll get your prize.
*note: this isn’t a fluke shot, I’ve repeated it several times while raising my score, you just have to be patient.
I don’t know if it is Rovio updates to this level or using a Samsung (Infuse) but the tracking for the blue bird shown in the video cannot be duplicated. At no point does the tracking angle sharply downward but instead keeps a fairly linear track above the left structure and towards the top tall structure. It is still possible to hit the TNT but you have to aim very, very close to the blue planet and split as soon as it passes by. One bird should hit the TNT and the other two continue on to partially damage the tall tower. The explosion takes out the remainder of the tall tower. Next bird as in video. But nothing ever comes close to any asteroids and after many hours on this level the best I have done is 63,180. Very frustrating.
@divelucaya – Try pulling back less on the sling to adjust the shape of the shot. The shot shown is at partial power.
@Burbman Jinx?
I owe you a soda! Maybe sometime at the BP!
Note that in the video, the Blue bird is not pulled at full strength. This allows for such a sharp “pelican dive”.
Thanks for the feedback. I guess I always assume pull is full strength. I guess the “whine” factor again has worked as shortly after posting, I got a lucky shot in and scored 66+K.
On a side note, I noticed for the Red Planet and for Danger Zone that the tracking indicator is very incorrect and misleading for shots along the edge of gravitational fields. For one level, the tracking line showed the path as just hitting the edge and curving in, but the bird flew straight. I moved the line closer and the line curved even further, but again the bird flew straight, not even touching the grav field. I again moved the line and watched the curve. This time the bird hit, but did not follow the same curved path. It has only been these two planets that tracking vs. flight discrepancies.
Hope I’m not stating the obvious here, but even if you can’t make the miracle shot @e-star mentioned waaay above (with equally miraculous video), shooting that direction is still the way to go, as it gives you a better angle into the TNT. You’re flying into it, rather than almost parallel to it. Just decrease fling power and angle until the targeting lines point in the general direction of the TNT.
I am gobsmacked for 2 reasons.
1) – @e-star – That is some crazeeeee awesome and difficult shot, even by your standards!
2) @stahl ‘s mind boggling score. WTG!! You absolutely nailed this level! @rat9 : The fact that somebody got 87k, means you can possibly get 88k no sweat! Show us how it is done! :) (And I know you don’t wanna be 15th on a Space leaderboard in any event)
Sorry @jaydee, I’ll have to respectfully decline your invitation for two reasons.
1) I’m on vacation in th Carabbean.
2) This level is hard.
@rat9 – Aaah la laaaaaa! I hope you are enjoying the Caribbean very much! … But I assume you are still adding this little baby to your to-win-list. :)
here is another 1birder…for all the players(inlcluded me)who can’t find the right point from E-stars video.congratulations to E-star..a great video!!!
https://www.angrybirdsnest.com/members/comex666/album/picture/11707/
Be patient and try again and again, either @e-star or the usual, shown by @comex666, strategy.
Far more interesting are the scores in the upper top 50.
I noticed it several times on other challenges, that the challenge flingers are far away from the Top 50, sometimes except one or two. Even today @jaydee doesn´t made it to the Top 50.
Maybe a change by an update, or maybe some kind of lost strategy knwowledge over the “centuries”. Makes me curious sometimes.
@liontooth
I unfortunately do not have time to participate to the challenge, but I can testify that my score was obtained with the latest update. But it was difficult in the sense that even when you master e-star’s shot (the easy part), having everything to fall as you want is either rare or difficult (for my personal standards). It took me more than one day to get my 78640 mark. One of the problems I had is that the top icy rocks never collapsed the bottom right structure (in my case, I did collapse it, either from an unusual bird trajectory, or the icy rock that is at 7:30 wrt to planet). Another issue that is also present in e-star’s video, is that the main structure does not collapse very efficiently because, I think, of the hollow stone block. Have enough luck or skill to destroy that one and you are on your way to much better scores.
@comex666 @liontooth @rat9
I can share how I got to 77k with a 2 birder and I think it is definitely beatable – I think 80k might be reached.
I aim blue birds at the upper ice – like so
https://www.angrybirdsnest.com/members/jaydee/album/picture/11709/
The blue bird, however, doesn’t follow that exact trajectory and enters the big gravitational field (it looks like you need to pass the gravitational field to the top. When the blue bird enters the field, I activate – like so:
https://www.angrybirdsnest.com/members/jaydee/album/picture/11710/
One of the blues will hit the wooden triangle at the top of the structure and fly with it towards the right hand structure and will destroy it.
I have managed as high as 33,710 up to this point (which I think is beatable).
Then I am lazer bird to the bottom left side of the boulders beneath the slingshot, and redirect it to make the big boulder to hit the TNT (while the smaller boulder also goes into the field – for more points).
When all goes well, the ice “boulders” will also be broken up by flying debris. The picture below shows the trajectory, but as you can see, I didn’t manage to break the ice boulder in this particular attempt.
https://www.angrybirdsnest.com/members/jaydee/album/picture/11711/
Good luck, I really think 80k can be reached like that – I will keep trying…..
..in fact, I did get the ice boulder in the screen shot, but the smaller boulders at the bottom didn’t go into the gravitational field…
78,920 on same basis off 29k 1st bird base. Still not sufficient destruction.
@jaydee
great, cool picture, next stop over 80k. thx friend
@comex666 – glad my method helped! :)
79540/2
many thx to @jaydee for the great pictures
here my video:
https://youtu.be/nEvKpKMaDqE
Thanks @jaydee Great pictures! Your 2 birder works very well. One thing I can add: When you redirect the big boulder on the second shot, the goal is not to hit the TNT directly. If you hit it directly the score will only be about 70K. The boulder needs to go past the TNT and land on/in the debris over the pig which is to the right of the TNT. A perfect shot will collapse everything on top of the pig, and then the TNT will go off. An added benefit is that debris from the TNT will often go up and get the ice balls. Practically no left over debris is possible on the top. Also, with the first shot, destroying lots of the top structure is not necessarily good. You need something there to stop the boulder in the second shot.
Thanks a lot @stocktoad – I agree on the second shot and the TNT.
Good luck! :)
@jaydee The pictures made all the difference and @stocktoad for the shooting past TNT tip – almost got 80k, but missed the ice balls.
@bdub -Thanks and well done on your score! :)
Thanks @jaydee! Great new strategy, explanation and pics! And score. Congratulations! Unfortunately I don’t have much time for today’s challenge, but still added 3k and got 75k so far with your strat within 15 minutes of flinging.
Make that 78k :)
@gladvold – I am very happy that my strategy proved to be a helpful alternative! Thanks a lot for the compliment! Good luck for Star Wars today!
@stocktoad – You clobbered the 80!!! Yay!!! I am very glad!! WTG!
https://www.angrybirdsnest.com/members/jaydee/album/picture/11716/
And I got to 80k too! Yay! Not as good as @stocktoad , but I am happy! A pic of the destruction is also in my album
It was definitely high time for me to supply a useful new strategy to fellow Challengers. :)
Wow @stocktoad – nearly 82k!!! You don’t mess around, that’s for sure! :)
Perhaps @e-star can make a video of the strategy to prevent readers from having to toggle between a long explanation and 3 pictures? I am glad the screenshots proved to be helpful, but in some cases a video does much better than pictures in the field of speaking the proverbial 1000 words.
The same wow goes for @meanguy ! :)
@jaydee – Thanks ! I think a BIG WOW should go to you for your strategy & pics. I used your first shot, towards the upper ice balls, and a slightly modified second shot to get my score. I sent the lazer bird straight down (towards the bottom of the screen),and then aimed it to hit the big boulder, south of the slingshot, at about the 7 o’clock position. The big boulder has to just miss the snow above it, then go over the first tower,and then land where the tall tower had been. As it falls to the bottom the left tower also explodes. If done right, the two ice balls above the first tower will be destroyed by rising debris.
Try as I might, I just couldn’t break the 82,000 barrier.
Thanks again for the great strat !!
@jaydee
Many thanks, I got 82k with your strat. 83k is definitely possible, but @stahl‘s score seems unlikely to be reachable that way.
81k achieved. Was long time coming. Blessed 2017 to my finger friends. ?
I just scored 84890 points by following the same strategy I posted back in 2014.
Once again I used two birds and basically followed the strategy posted by @jaydee on Nov 12,’14.
First, I aimed Blues at the 2 ice balls above the atmosphere, releasing them as they entered the atmosphere. This took out most of the second,(straight-up) tower (12 o’clock position), plus gave really good destruction of the right side (4 o’clock position) tower.
Second, just like in 2014. I aimed Lazer Bird to go straight down. Near the bottom of the screen, I activated LB to strike the largest boulder, near the slingshot, at about the 7 o’clock position. This takes out the rest of the second tower and set off the tnt, destroying the first tower.
One bird left unused, and I’ve earned another puppy.
@sweetp – Puppy screenshot:
https://www.angrybirdsnest.com/members/meanguy/album/picture/28512/
Good luck & happy flinging to all !!!
@meanguy thank you for the update! A very good strat!
@swelld & @briann
Thanks for the acknowledgements. It’s nice to see an old strategy that still works.
Great flinging by both of you.
Thanks @jaydee for the 2 bird strategy also @meanguy for the additional aiming tip on shot 2.And well done on tonight’s score.
Thanks @sweetp
