One birder possible just like video. I got one good for 86,080.

Alternatively, you can aim the ice bird through the lower half of the gravitational field. Aim for the middle of the third asteroid. I’ve found that it gives a more consistent 1 birder, scores in the mid 80s and up.

Hi Lyrian! — Congrats on the score! Interesting strat, but I’m not sure I really understand it, and for sure I haven’t been able to execute it. Thanks for any additional clarification.
By “aim the ice bird through the lower half of the gravitational field” do you mean the gravitational field closest closest to the sling? And by “lower half” do you mean the half closest to the planet or closest to the bottom of the screen? By the “third asteroid” do you mean the third from the left or the right?

Should be @lyrian

Ah, sorry about that! What I mean is that the bird should be shot slightly downward, through the gravitational field in front of the slingshot. It will curve upwards a bit on it’s flight and strike the center of the third asteroid from the left. I’ll try to grab a screen shot showing the trajectory.

Thanks @lyrian! Will try again. In Space, there is always the possibility of misinterpretation when you say “lower half of the gravitational field” — Does that mean lower relative to the planet or the screen? Your pic makes it clear that you mean lower relative to the screen.

@lyrian Do you remember if your under-planet shot ever detonated the first two (leftmost and center) asteroids? They always stay intact for me, and I just can’t shake the feeling Rovio didn’t put them there for window dressing. :)

I have replayed that level, trying to get them to break and it hasn’t worked out for me. I don’t know if they are there to give you two different approaches to the same end result or not. The video uses the two on the left while my strategy uses the two on the right. I just think using the rightmost ones yields a more repeatable 1 bird clear.

I’m getting the ice bird to hit the ‘big rock third from the left’my trouble is everything just freezes the pigs don’t die they just freeze.. what am I doing wrong? Should i activate the ice bird at some point? I’ve tried activating and/or Not but either way the pigs and strcture just freeze over without shattering:/

Sorry for the slow reply @kathy, if you look a bit lower on the page @f91jsw refined the aiming point for the shot. They are indeed correct that you will need to be about as close as you can get to the lower planet’s gravitational field during the bird’s flight. That shot should make it more likely that an ice shard hits directly between the two towers on the upper planet. I don’t activate the ice bird, because it should ricochet off the asteroid and land on top of one of the towers on the upper planet.

@kathy, yeah, sometimes it happens that way, but when the ice shard hits directly between the bases of the two towers, the explosion freezes the piggies and knocks the towers over at the same time.

I actually completed the entire level with 1 bird, and when I got the tnt, and saw that corporal pig was happy and alive I thought that this wouldn’t be a solid attack. but I took my time and waited and thinking…I got 1,I got 2 then another, and another…OH HO HO! what about that my friends! I got all of them, and left 3 standing! that’s bound to be 3 stars.and when I got 3,I was like,it is.

I used @lyrian‘s strategy. A little more detail: you want the trajectory to be as close to the grav field of the lowest planet as possible. That makes it more likely that one of the pieces of the exploding rock will hit exactly between the two towers of the upper structure, which is what you want for a 1-birder and high scores. 85k+ scores are repeatable.

Ok. My upper asteroid will NOT split in a manner that sends a piece down to the lower asteroid. The largest piece ALWAYS gets sucked to the left planet. Regardless of where I aim ice bird, regardless of the speed if ice bird, regardless of where ice bird lands on or near the asteroid, regardless of where I detonate ice bird. It explodes in exactly the same pattern every time and of the four resulting pieces, only one small piece hits half the pigs on the upper planet. When I aim for the lower asteroid first, it does send a piece up to explode the other, but two pigs are always left on upper planet. The second bird will freeze them both but only the bottom pig explodes, forcing a third bird to actually kill the final pig. Not three stars by any means. Please. Whine. Uncle. Hints?

To achieve a puppy today I had the extra luck that some debris from the bottom structure pushed a third asteroid into the gravity field of the top planet.

Here is the final result.
