Angry Birds Seasons Year of the Dragon Level 1-5 Walkthrough

Year of the Dragon level 1-5 is one of first tough levels. Best bet is to use the Yellow bird to take out the golden fish on the bottom left hand side. This should take down the first part of the structure. Now send the Blue bird traveling across the entire level with the goal of taking out the far right pigs and knocking some of the structure down to nab the other golden fish. You typically need these points. Now use Big Brother to finish off the remaining pigs, hopefully grabbing enough points to get your stars. The score in the video below is 104,920.

Method I use here is as follows:

1st bird: low towards first fish. It is important here that the first square ice block collapses
2nd bird: blue bird into now exposed vertical ice block to take out pig and collapse that structure
3rd bird: towards the top of the back structure. This causes debris to fall down onto the back fish, but the bird or other debris will often fall to the left as well to deal with the other pig.

I have around 103k in this way :)

I got 105k with this method (somehow), but i have never been able to get BigBro to knock anything down the back once I have taken out the ice with Bluey.

Hey Laurence, I spent most of my time using your strat but could never get the top tower to tumble to the right so I modified it a little to try and get a better result and here is what I came up with;

Bird 1: flat’ish’ arc so that the activate YB slams into the very thin horizontal stone block that makes up part of the left-hand leg of the right (highest) tower. This will cause a considerable amount of the top part of the tower to tumble to the right and you should destroy the lower right fish. Aim for 35K+ after this shot (3 pigs dead).

Bird 2: BB into the small glass square and the longer horizontal glass rectangle at the top of the left (lowest) tower. This will topple the long thin red wooden blocks off the top of the middle tower and take the glass and stone with it to the left, causing some good collateral damage.

Bird 3: Aim BR to smash through the lower debris and take out the two vertical thick golden blocks that make up the left leg of the middle tower. This will topple the middle tower to the left and cause good collateral damage to the lower left debris there. If you are lucky you will even nail the fish down there. After about an hour of attempts I had 112.5K but there are a fair few more points in this one.

As soon as I posted this, I tried again. Got it with two birds, using nature’s method. First bird toppled the far tower, still didn’t get that fish! Blue birds split and hit perfectly; everything just kept falling. Very happy now! If only I had gotten that fish, though :).

Thanks natureswrath. That strat seems to be the ticket. After the first bird I had 34k, after the second it was 57k, and big red wiped out much of the right side.

This is definitely the best strategy, although I never could get more than 33k with the first bird. Somewhat counterintuitively, I got my best score when I slightly misfired the blue birds and the top one hit the slanted red wood, shifting the top of the small tower slightly right. There was only a tiny bit of collapse, but I threw Terence anyway just in case, and to my amazement he cut through all of the debris like butter and went through the yellow bricks of the middle tower at a high rate of speed. With very little in the way to slow it down, the middle tower collapsed quite nicely onto the remains of the first tower and smashed both quite thoroughly to reach almost 109k, even though the first shot was only 32k and the fish in the front was not destroyed. It may be worth trying to do this second shot deliberately if you’re getting frustrated with the standard method.

Thanks @natureswrath for posting your strategy. Worked great. Found that if one activates yellow bird from the sling it knocks over the right side most of the time instead of going through the hollow square block. One does not have to hit the thin piece of stone in the right most tower.

I know the update is new and most users are probably still working on some of the more challenging levels to 3-star (e.g., 11 14 and 15). But I gotta admit, I’m stuck. I absolutely cannot get the feather koi and I’ve been trying for a couple hours. Everything else is done, including most of the stuff for ABN.

So, if anyone manages to get this koi, please post your strategy to help me (and Fuji) out.

To get the koi:

Yellow bird: break the wood on the bottom left of the structure, just like you would to get the golden fish

Blue birds: aim them toward the ground, splitting them to clean up some debris from the portion that fell. (you don’t have to get everything)

Big red bird: hit it into the cement block sticking up from the middle structure, then the block and bird will crash into the far right structure, causing debris to fall down and take out part of the box surrounding the golden fish on the right (you don’t have to smash the golden fish)

Second blue bird: aim them toward the middle tower, breaking glass, and causing more damage.

Koi: aim it toward the bottom left of the immovable structure, having it land on the ground where the plant is located at the start of the level (just to the left of the very bottom left cement block) this should be enough distance away from the immovable structure so the dragon can circle around the fish and follow the contour of the immovable structure, destroying enough of the remaining debris to get total destruction.

This definitely takes a few tries to get it right, but I eventually got total destruction! I hope this helps :)

Not sure if they quick fixed this one but I just got the koi twice in five minutes and this is how;

Bird 1: low arc, through the hollow wooden square at the lower left-hand base of the structure.
Bird 2: clean up debris on the ground. This is a ‘throw away’ shot as the key was still having the middle tower standing (the one with the helmet head wearing the ‘oriental'[?] hat on).
Bird 3: Highish arc such that BR lands on the thick short stone block at the very top of the middle tower and then carries on with great force into the middle of the upper right structure. This will push debris from this structure over the edge so that they rains down on the fish at the bottom right.
Bird 4: Take out what is left of the middle structure, aiming at the short thick vertical glass (or ice if you are that way inclined) block on the left hand side of this structure.
Koi: Throw the koi so that is lands approximately on the long thin horizontal concrete block at the bottom of the middle tower. This assumes that the top of the tower rolled left when you used Bird 4, this is what happened to me most times so I will take it as a common occurrence. Regardless of this the exact placement isn’t vastly important. What you want from the shot is to hit all the stone blocks at the base of the towers as the dragon does it’s loop-de-loop. I am sure there are several viable positions for it to land.

I finnally got him, now I completed all YEAR OF THE DRAGON!

With my little bro’s strategy

1: Through the square at the bottom
2: Clean Everything up
3: Into the yellow stones in the middle/left under. This will left only the big tower at the right and everything else is destroyed.
4: Into the tower (Split just before you hit
5: DRAGON IN THE Right TOWER!

I went about it a different method, and it took forever.

1) Lower left corner like all others, after all settles down you want to have about 35K with the glass block still around, or around 40K with it destroyed.
2) BlueBird into the middle tower, making sure to take out the thick vertical piece.
3) Big Brother into the middle tower debris, trying to take out as many of the brick pieces as possible.
4) 4th blue bird high arc and split when at the apex to send the top bird into the pigs on the top, forcing the top few blocks over the right side.
5) Koi to the base of the towers on the right. This gave me a good space for the loop-de-loop which took out the golden fish and blocks on bottom right, and also had a good fall of the tower.

For me, getting Total Destruction on this was the hardest Angry Bird level ever by a long way. It took me nearly two days living like a hermit to finish it! I can’t believe how easy the other levels are by comparison.

I’ve now nearly completed the whole Year of the Dragon, but I’m saving 6 Total Destruction levels so I can complete them on a long boring plane journey I’ve got in a couple of weeks.

Ok, beings as this is the first time I have gotten to use the Mighty Eagle, or in this case the Mighty Dragon, I will readily admit I have NO clue as to what I am doing. I have gotten 100% on a few levels but not sure exactly how.

While I was trying to get the koi on this level, I assumed that I needed to try and knock over the far right tower to take out the the little fish and structure on the ground. I flung and split the blue bird into the far right structure. I noticed it was wobbling so I quickly sent the yellow bird. I noticed everything falling to the LEFT not the right. I tried to quickly launch the koi to get 100% but messed up. Everything fell to the left and took almost everything out giving me a score just over 116K!

Still trying to get 100%

If you get the top right to rock to the right you can sometimes get it to rock back to the left with just the YB if you follow the strat I set out above. I had one attempt where I very nearly had a 1 bird solution for this level but I didn’t capitalize on the situation. I think it is very possible to get a 1 birder and a score of 120K+.

The funny thing is I wasn’t trying to improve my score when I got 116K. I was trying to get 100% total destruction. I think my score before this was around 108k. I saw everything falling over and didn’t even think it would be a good score, was trying to hit the Mighty Dragon button and I guess I just panicked for a bit because I missed it and all of a sudden, the level ended. I was a bit upset because I wanted the 100% and thought this would be a good chance for it. Then the score tallied up and I had a new high score (for me).

Minor change, I found that if the first bird knocks enough down, I can use the blue bird to knock down the closer tower to kill those two pigs, then use the Red to get the last, further away to topple in and kill the balance. Score of 103430

Could someone please post video of the Koi with 100% destruction? This is the only one I have left, and I’ve attempted it countless times. And I always find the videos more helpful than the write-ups (picture worth a thousand words, etc.). Thanks in advance!

I was following “natureswrath” strategy and had the same experience as “budgie”. I slightly missed the thin horizontal stone, still pushed tower to the right but chuck broke thru wood, pushed over the two or three blocks on the top of the far right tower, and then everything started to slowly fall back to the left, toppling everything, resulting in a 1 birder!

Thanks for the congrats, @Kathy I know I was trying to fling chuck on a medium high trajectory and have him hit the the bottom of that thin metal bar on the second to right tower… the goal is to have chuck roll down that tower and take out the left gold brick at the bottom of the tower — the tower sways to the right and then sways back to the left, since it only has one gold brick for support it continues falling to the left, hopefully taking out everything with it (though that I fear was one lucky shot – the angry bird gods were smiling down on me that day!) — screen shot below to show you what I was trying to do — keep on flingin’
