The Angry Birds Seasons Wreck the Halls update (v2.1.0) is now available for iOS, Mac, PC, Nokia, and Android via the Android Market and Amazon Appstore. Other platforms will be getting the update very soon. This update — which we first leaked about two weeks ago — celebrates the Christmas Season and is very similar to Seasons Greedings in that it counts down like an advent calendar with one new level per day!
Update: Seasons HD (iPad) has received a v2.1.1 update, which presumably fixes the loading issue on 1st generation iPad.
Another Update: HD v2.1.2 has landed and should fix the launch issue once and for all.
This update includes:
- 25 new levels with one new level unlocked every day just like Seasons Greedings and Summer Pignic
- 4 new achievements (Smash 300 cookies; Pass all 25 levels; 3-star all 25 levels; and Score Addict)
- More Golden Eggs to be found (we will update as we find them)
- A “Big Cookie” bonus level that is unlocked when you 3 star every level
- Per Rovio, “on the last day you’ll meet the big pig himself!
Bug Fixes:
- The Trick or Treat Golden Egg Flip-Flop bug (Bug 27) has been resolved! So we may be pushing the Seasons Golden Eggs Leaderboard live soon!
- The Facebook/Twitter Disappearing Stars bug (Bug 28) has been resolved as well.
- Seasons is now 100% bug-free!!!! (Note that the Easter Score Addict bug is not fixable.)
Notes:
- Wreck the Halls 3-star walkthroughs are live. Daily walkthrough pages will go live at 12 AM PST (8 AM UTC), so be sure to check back every day. The actual video will be added to the page as soon as it’s ready, but the page is there for your comments and strategies.
- You must be connected to the internet the first time you play a level (only the first time for each level) so that it can download the level file and check the date (this prevents early access).
- The leaderboards are also live. Again, please be patient with brand new levels; we will update the leaderboards during the day.
Rovio has also released a Gameplay Trailer (seen below) and a Christmas comic. Finally, there is a major update to Chrome Beta, so be sure to check out these other posts as well.

Is it me or are the 2012 seasons levels a whole lot easier then previously? i pass them all 3 star on the go. no more endless repetitions trying to get every bird to fall exactly into place..too bad. i liked the more challenging gameplay better…
I like 2012 better. I hate those endless repetitions. Today’s level and most of the 2012 ones so far give us a chance to try real strategies rather than relying on luck like level 16 in 2011. Even if you knew exactly where to aim on level 16 of 2011 and several of the other levels last year, it still seemed to rely a lot on luck.

I finally got level 4 to load, butevery last bit of progress I’ve made is gone! I had 3 stars on all levels – WTF?!?! How do I fix this?
If you had recently backed up your data, then you could restore to that previous version.
Unfortunately I haven’t done a backup in quite some time. But the really weird thing is that all of my acheivements are still intact on Game Center. I haven’t been able to get the game to fully load again, but I’m hoping that maybe it was just a fluke.

I have the update, and in GameCenter it says 58 acheivements. But when I scroll down, the wreck the halls acheivements are not there. Anyone know how to fix this?
All 4 achievements are hidden. Nothing to fix.
I’m curious… do you know what the rationale is behind hiding the achievements? Especially since they don’t show up after you attain them? I got the cookie smashing congratulatory message today, but it doesn’t show up in game center. I can wrap my head around keeping them secret before you attain them, but not around after.
They should show up after you attain them. Try restarting your device.
That did the trick. I should have known to try that first. :-(
I have the same problem since I have iOS 5. Also in Rio, sometimes the new achievements (Fruit Salad, Blue Giant etc.) are there, the following day they are not there any more, the next day they are back again.
I think it’s a Game Center problem.
What I don’t know is why in AB Rio and in AB Seasons it’s the first time now that they added new achievements but all of them are hidden. (so far score addict and 3 star all levels etc. have never been hidden)
I’ve finished most of the worlds but I didn’t get the achievements for them. Do I also have to finish the extra Facebook and twitter levels to get the achievements?

Yes, to get an achievement for completing or 3-starring all levels, it must be all levels, including the 3 Facebook/Twitter levels.

Last weekend I changed the date of my iPhone to next year, then I changed it back, and then I tried to open the next day’s level.

I think there is extra golden egg for mooncake festival for PC. I’ve seen a blue egg in the images and in the golden pack (for data) it says: LevelMC_BONUS. What do you think?
I believe “GE” is the 3-star and “Bonus” is the 8-pieces (or vice versa)

Yes.. If course… you need internet connection to download the level files and to prevent early playing,It’s Rovio’s strategy,like it :D

If you wait (whether Wreck, Seasons Greedings, or Pignic), it still requires an Internet connection whenever you choose to connect.

1-4 is hard but theres an easy way to do it. Just launch the blue bird at the closest pig hoping to break the glass to the 2nd 1. Then launch the 2nd 1 at the rest on the pigs or in the same direction as the 1st bird.
Does anyone else keep receiving notifications of getting the Cookie Cutter achievement? I’ve had that little notification banner pop up about six times now for the same achievement.

In case anybody is interested in knowing this:
The design of all 2011 golden egg pages has changed. The golden eggs in all episodes have changed their position on the screen, and there is no big star behind the big pumpkin any more.
The design hasn’t changed at all? The only thing that is different is the “Big Star” in Trick or Treat.
As I said, alle the golden eggs and also the two moon cakes changed the position. I call it design, but maybe there is a better word. I have SD version.
I’ve looked at the SD and all of the golden eggs on the page are in exactly the same position as they have always been. See their “original positions” on this page. I use quotes because, well, it’s the same position now.
It’s only small changes. E.g. the two moonkaces are closer now, and in Summer pignic the golden eggs are closet to the basket now and one of them is rotated. The big pumpkin, big heart, big egg etc. are in the middle of the screen now.
Not very important, but a small difference.
The discrepancy is probably due to different display resolution/ ratio in iphone 3gs, 4, ipad and other devices. That means rovio had to adjust the coordinates of the menu items to accomodate the different devices.
But true, some eggs rotations have changed and are different from sd and hd for example seasons greetings.
All the images we have on the page cite above are from iPad, which just has more space.
I always make screenshots for myself. So I can assure that there is not only a difference between SD and HD version, but also between previous and actual version for iPhone.

I saw that. I’m going to update the post. It’s primarily for iPad 1 users, I believe.
As a first-gen iPad user, I noticed right away the fix for loading time (was at least 15 seconds; now less than ten seconds) plus no more “flash crashes” at loading time or when switching apps. It was common to have the app disappear without freezing or appearing unstable, most likely due to low memory situations. My comments are based on playing the app like crazy for ten days, not from developer notes, so your results may vary. Aloha.
Does anyone know which time zone the time in the game is in? ‘Cos the level only unlocks at 4pm in my country.

Has anyone else had problems with the newest Seasons update? We actually have 2 different IPads and it doesn’t work on either! When you hit the icon, it goes black like it is loading and then right back to the main screen. It never even loads. Help!
Did you get the v2.1.1 update that was released a day or 2 ago? It was a stability fix for iPad 1st generation.
I did. The other version worked and now this update doesn’t work on either iPad we have.
Try restarting your device, closing the app using multitasking bar, and connecting to WiFi only (not 3G). Otherwise, contact Rovio.
I did what you said to do but it still continues to crash a lot. I think this should be added to the bug list!
