Angry Birds Rio Timber Tumble Walkthrough Level #8

Our strategy for Timber Tumble Level #8 is to knock the hanging log rightward, causing it to swing and dislodge the TNT nearby. The chain reaction is devastating, clearing the entire right side of the level. Finish off by releasing the remaining logs with a Yellow bird. The score in the video below is 236,010.

Just like the video but the large metal ball rolled left detonating the 2 smaller TNTs and doing a lot of damage to the logs.

To get it to happen, the wood plank above it has to fall and not damage the stone. It’s very rare, but it does happen. That’s the difference between 240k and 244k.

At this posting I’m at 244,710 —- & I can see how (on my unit) it might be possible to get to the 245,000 score (based on debris I leave behind at scores around 244,7nn). Is it possible that this episode is NOT PC 246,000 possible? Your thoughts would be MUCH appreciated! :-) !

In my opinion there is only one strat here, the one showed in the video.
A few tips:
1. You can heva a one-birder here (all the marmosets killed), will bring you about 200-205k, #30k
2. The black boulder n the video doesn’t always fall on these tnt’s. When this happens and the pendulum is still present, wait with the second bird till this pendulum is on the right most position. That forces after yellow bird cuts that rope ABOVE the boulders (slightly different as in video) the pendulum to fall on the renaining tnt’s.
3. Repeat, repeat and repeat. Score will going up

@bernersenn Thank you for the suggestion about the timing on the second bird. I’ve got the high score for now because of it. BTW, I did manage a 225k one-birder; the red bird has to hit on the top of the hanging log hard enough to push it into the wooden structure to detonate a TNT, but it has to bounce high enough so that it cuts the cable when the log is on the back swing. I’ve only been able to do it a couple of times, and this two-bird solution clearly gives higher scores.

The six timber logs couldn’t be damaged nor destroyed for extra points. Something must have changed in the level from the previous comments.

Top score as per the standard strategy.

Here’s an alternate 2b strategy that makes the black ball roll onto the small TNTs more often.

First Red into the notch under the left side of the 5-log pile. It’s a bit tricky, but frequently snaps the rope. Red, logs and pendulum destroy the left structure.

Fire Chuck into the wood blocks of lower stone plank behind where the log pendulum used to be. Destruction happens normally, but for some reason, the stone plank survives more often, letting the black ball roll across and detonate the TNTs.

This also solves a problem the standard strategy has, where a marmoset survives the collapse after the 1st shot. Scores seem pretty similar, but being able to get those TNTs more often is always a good thing.

Thank you @huwg for replying, All of us above are always suspicious of unknown (to us) flingers, who post a high score. The easiest way is to look at your scores once you post them and if you hit a top score, immediately post a strategy, or a thanks to someone for their strategy, or, in the case of befuddlement, a “Sorry, I have no idea”. (I’ve certainly got one of those!)
To post a screen shot, you obvious need to take one first, not knowing what platform you play on I can’t advise, and then go to your ABN account, album, upload picture, title it, and copy and paste in the walkthrough.

I guess we’ll never know how you got that score, but I’ve certainly got one in Timber Tumble that is way far above everyone else’s. These things happen…….

@HuwG Congrats on 1st place! I shot just over 247K with 2 tiny cracked stone pieces left for 2nd place. I too was suspicious about 249K and I think you must have gotten one of those presents for an extra 3K, otherwise I do not think it’s possible. I’ve seen the same on many other AB Rio levels where it’s simply impossible to get a top score without those extra 3000 points. That’s a shame because it just adds another level of randomness only to get a power-up people will never use anyway.

Sorry @Hunnybunny… But we all are so very busy with real “life” and can’t be everywhere 24/7. It makes it hard for us to catch all of them, at the same time while handling our other responsibilities here in the Nest. It’s easier to address these if we are @mentioned in the walkthroughs as @stocktoad did above. Unless you can come up with a different method, then there’s really nothing else we can do. Thanks for your concern!

I appreciate your feedback @hunnybunny. One of the main reason why I’ve never implemented something like this is because it’s not easy to take screenshots on all platforms, thus this would prevent a lot of users from entering their scores. I would rather they do, and if they’re bogus, we take care of them then. It may take time to catch them, but over the years we’ve done an amazing job — especially considering there are millions of hand entered scores here on the Nest.
