The latest update for Angry Birds Rio (v1.4.2) is now available for iOS, Mac, PC, Symbian, and Android via the Amazon Appstore and Android Market, with other platforms coming soon. The update features the remaining 15 levels of Smugglers Plane and includes a bonus surprise: The Orange Bird! That’s right, our expandable new friend managed to book a flight to South America and has joined the fun.
Maybe the biggest news to come with this update is that THIS IS NOT THE END OF RIO! That’s right, this is the epic conclusion of Smugglers Plane, but there will be future updates based on deleted scenes and extras. Want proof? This Tweet from Rovio states, “Last levels of Smuggers’ Plane out, but this is not the end of Rio!” So keep your eyes peeled for news about forthcoming updates! Maybe they’ll even be a second Rio movie, Rio 2. Who knows!
This update includes:
- 15 new levels! The leaderboards and walkthroughs are up!
- 8 new mangoes to find. Â Refer to our videos if you need help finding them.
- New achievements to be unlocked (iOS only). Many are “hidden” achievements, so be sure to check out our list.
- Another “thrilling” boss fight!
- As said above, the Orange Bird is now available, which means the whole Angry Birds family has made an appearance.
- Pro tip! Try to hit the luggage. It’s worth 5,000 points!
- A new icon has appeared on the “Play” screen. It’s a music note that links to the Rio Samba Single on iTunes. Â We’re not sure if this link will be there for other platforms, so let us know.

Although hardly to say this is last chapter for Rio, but Rovio said that that not over yet for the AB Rio. Maybe Rovio will bring surprise for the next Rio update.

Could we say that “more to come” could mean that Rovio would add some levels if you’ve got all 15/15 of fruits, like GEs?
It could be that, or a brand new chapter for everyone… Only thing that we can do is wait… :D
Based on what we know, and wrote above, it will probably be a new chapter based on extras and deleted scenes from Rio.

I liked this boss fight better than some of the others. Lots of TNT in there!
Finished the last part of Smugglers’ Plane. After the Birds defeat Nigel, they used the plane to fly out of Rio back to their homeland… just in time stop another Bad Piggie attack on their eggs. I don’t see Blu and Jewel in the final cutscenes, but we can presume they escaped as well.
The total score in my game centre is not correct. It doesn’t include the latest 15 levels. However, the total score smuggler’s plane is correct for all 30 levels. Anyone else has the same issue?
Yes, I have exactly the same problem on an iPad. I’ve tried closing and reopening Rio, rebooting the iPad, and logging out and in of game center. No luck… :(
The leaderboard of total score must also be wrong. Only two person are beyond 20 millions, and that can’t be the case. I believe this is a bug.

I got this with Amazon Appstore (It’s awesome!) but why didn’t this come to Android Market the same day?
Angry Birds Rio launched the same day as the Amazon Appstore, and part of that launching was an “exclusivity” for Android. Every update for Rio has landed on Amazon (roughly) the same day as iOS. The update is then “Android exclusive” through Amazon for a short time — about a week — before it lands on Market.
Cool. BTW the only version on Amazon Appstore is Ad Free. I paid for it and I like how I get updates sooner than if I had it on Android Market. Thanks
That exclusivity is probably why Amazon doesn’t have a free (read: ad-supported) version of Rio, as it does for ABo and ABs.

I got bored so I added up all the levels across all 3 AB games (seasons, AB original, and Rio – not including Chrome or the 100 other mini games) and there’s nearly 800 levels total. That’s extremely impressive and if there’s more after Rio, I say bring it!
303 (ABo) + 27 (ABo GEs) + 257 (ABS) + 31 (ABS GEs) + 195 = 813 levels in the full mobile versions.
I have the same problem. I finished at all friomA toZ. But I am incrising my score on last episode Smugler’s Plane ; so new numbers and the score on this episode increase my numbers but on general score , just stop. I thing there are a bugs!!

Hi Slim . I still have he problem with my total score and also with my smugglers plane score . The total score on me just stop; With me and my friends the same thing on smugglers plane . what I see it is only position over my friends players and me : but the numbers stop; day by day increase but the numbers not. So Game Center is doing this on every one o just me, So the total score It is what we reached and after that no more. O r what happen.!!! please let me know what’s going on.!!

I’ll try to answer as best as I can understand you.
The Total Score on GameCenter for Rio seems to count Chapters 1-11 and mistakenly leaves out Chapter 12. This is universal.
And correct, Rio is not over, as it says in this post. But we don’t know when more updates will arrive.

What will happen if this is not the end of Angry Birds Rio? Us Android users who are not T-Mobile need our Aqualine Benefactor, achievements, and same for other versions, but what about iOS which has both the ME and achievments? Rio 2? GE’s?

I originally expected Rovio to close out rio by the end of the sixth episode. But they said on their twitter post that this is not the end of Rio!

The update is not yet available on Android Market. It is exclusive to Amazon AppStore for now.

Yeah,they released Birdday Party (Original).
Only specifically-scheduled updates land on weekends. So, in general, no.
Examples of scheduled updates include anniversaries (Ham’o’ween and Birdday), Advent calendars (Dec 1), etc.
