Angry Birds Rio Rocket Rumble Walkthrough Level #9

Our strategy for Rocket Rumble Level #9 is to fling Stella towards the top of the middle tower, and trigger upon impact. The bubbles should lift a few blocks into the detonating cord above, and ignite both rockets. Then simply send the Yellow bird at the base of the remaining tower to finish off the level. The score in the video below is 124,910.

131,120 with one bird — just like video but something hit the rightmost tower (I think it was whirling fireworks) and it collapsed to the left.

FWIW, I think 2 birds can get well over 130K, too. My prior highest score was almost 130K with 2 birds and I never got close to having 69K after 1st bird like the video (I think I had 66K). Second bird should hit lower for better damage, aim to break vertical wood plank AND horizontal wood plank laying on the ground.

My score is 2 birds at video strategy.
Important, you say “break vertical wood plank AND horizontal wood plank”

p.s. I’m not sure what’s the key for getting higher score on first shot but you definitely don’t have to destroy all the pieces…it’s either how much contact spinning things have with structure pieces or the amount of time they spin.

Hi @fenikus ..my score was a 1 birda ,and it only happened once ,all took me by surprise ,though i do remember my arc to the tower was pretty low over first tower and i think the debrie that fell right between tower 2 and 3 had angle enough on it ,that the not yet spiinning spinner got knocked back just enough to take out leftbottom corner on right most structure ,and thats all she wrote ,High score for an hour or so ,lol ,back to the drawing board :) keep up the great shooting . good luck to all

Hiya @xebic88 …nice score (even if it didn’t hold up as the top one)! These levels with spinners are deceiving — you see TD and boom, it’s 5K less than the score you had with lots of debris remaining. On level 16 it’s easier to watch what they do and my conclusion is that they spin longer (and hence rack up more points) if they have less contact with pieces…so it’s better for pieces to break on their own instead of being chewed up by spinner. On the other hand, maybe is just completely random, lol, who knows…

Very little to add to what Fenicus and Xebic88 already wrote, except maybe these two tiny comments:
1. I had figured that setting off balloons prior to killing top monkey was a good idea, since it alllows more material to fly to the right. Then, just for once, decided to go for the kill. Boom! First one-birder.
2. Merry Christmas to all of you guys.

Hi @parlonsqc, good thinking about throwing as much stuff to the right as possible but I don’t think it matters whether you kill the monkey or not. It intrigued me that I couldn’t repeat my “1-birda” as my man @xebic88 would say, so I started thinking of ways to increase my odds of getting one. The key is to throw the square ice from the second tower somewhere between second and third towers without breaking it. Since I started paying attention to that, I’ve gotten several hits and each time the spinner bounced of that ice block.

It’s too late to wish you merry x-mas back so I’ll bid you a happy new year.

Hi @fenikus.
I confirm. All my 1-bird shots revolved around that block.
Happy New Year to you and all the AB community.

To grab a few extra points, fire first shot through blue lantern. Don’t hit the tree! You’ll be able to pick up monkey from top of middle tower just like in the video. Make second shot a little flatter than in video and accelerate through wood block on left of remaining tower.

1-birder after so many tries. Shot through blue lantern + second mushroom, let pink bird develop bubbles w/o activating manually, bubbles lift ice block + wood plank towards the right, second spinner touched tilting wood plank and fell into bottom of rightmost tower which collapsed, spinner had enough rotation to destroy middle structure, too. Lot of luck necessary.

I think you’re on to something here @aki-van-emden with the recommendation to let Stella’s bubbles start on their own. I hadn’t read this when I got my mere 132810 1-birder on Android phone, but when trying again, although only getting 2-birders, I’m off to higher starting scores than I had with prior 2-birders. It also looks like, at least on Android phone, aiming to just skim along at the top of the string holding the blue lantern is the arc I need.
