Angry Birds Rio Carnival Upheaval Walkthrough Level 18 (8-3)

Our strategy for Carnival Upheaval level 8-3 is to fire the Yellow bird through the sand blocks supporting the first bridge, taking out the marmosets below. Launch the first Blue bird toward the main ice structure, but split early if any marmosets stand in the middle of the level. Use the same shot with the next Blue bird, but split late to maximize destruction. The score in the video below is 65,830.

Same as video. Lucky in that most of the far right structure collapsed which gave it the high score.

Oops, after three more tries, new score of 76240. When the dynamite went off, it shot one of the concrete brick upward destroying everything above it except for two sand blocks. Possible 80k?

I think two birds is possible but maybe less debris would result in lower score? Got mine like video with three birds and a little more debris.

Just got it in two birds but the score was lower at 65380. So I think three birds is better as I thought…too many points left to be had.

Hi @lesleyg, I just got a 2 bird kill with 77530, I followed instructions by @crivit about aiming for the beachball and it worked, maybe you could give it a try as well.

Thank you @sadbird – btw…sorry for the late response but I had a busy, busy week and am just now able to get back to AB business, lol ;-)
However, I don’t quite understand the strat? I read @crivit post below but does that mean “literally” a straight shot to the “top” of the beach ball or a high arch to come down on it or something? I can’t seem to get the angle right to just hit the beachball without hitting the wood too? Any help would be greatly appreciated ;-)

Nice scores to both of you with this strat and to @lordlance who has maintained Top Score with it for some time now! Obvious it’s a god one but can you please clarify the first bird shot? Thank you in advance for tips ;-)

I’m guessing it is literally a “straight” shot as I just tried a moon shot and it landing perfectly on the beachball but didn’t break the wood below it…

I’m sorry I didn’t reply yesterday @lesleyg, for some reason I get some notifications but not others, the way I did it was by just nicking the top of the beachball. Hope that helps you.

Ok @sadbird – I think I got it! Although not much improvement just yet…I had a really good first birdie:

My score still needs some improvement but at least I raised it about 1K. Thanks for the tips ;-)

You’re welcome @lesleyg, you’ve just to keep trying, as ( @crivit writes; there’s different things that can happen), so you just keep on resetting ’til the one that suits your needs happens.

I agree, @lesleyg. I did it with two birds and my score was a bit lower. I tried to launch the blue bird, but it timed out too quickly. So, for those that think there’s more than 20K in debris left over, launch the next bird as soon as possible. You may get lucky depending on where you aim and split the blue bird. GL!

straight shot at the beachball without hitting the wood, theres different things that can happen:
the wood under the beachball will break and take the bottom left monkey out,
or the structure will collapse and the wood under the 2nd monkey will kill the 1st. 2nd shot take out the remains on the right much easier shot but still challenging :)

This is definitely the way to go. Thank you Crivit!! Using your method just netted me #1 (for now). Thank you very much! Everything fell just so, leaving just two monkeys, one on top and right most one on bottom. Blue cleaned up and managed to get some good debris points.

Thanks @crivit! Improved my score by 4K. I got lucky when I hit the beachball, it broke through the glass plank and took out the left lower marmoset. In the meantime, Chuck bounced all the way to the right, taking down most of the glass pieces and the large marmoset. The beachball ended up on the trampoline, next to the bottom right marmoset. I noticed the score increasing by 10-30 points whenever the beachball hit the platform the marmoset was sitting on. So, I waited, and waited. The wood finally broke, and after waiting a bit longer, more wood and the glass block broke, taking out the marmoset. The second shot was easy, taking out most of the glass and wood, then knocked the cement block over landing on the TNT. With the added bonus birds, got a nice 77,600!

@Kathy, it’s been so long I can’t remember exactly what I did. But revisiting my revisit and flinging at that beachball, I did hit it headon. It’s a little tricky to get the right angle on the ball, but some practice and I was able to get the glass to break. The resulting damage was not as great as my description above, but the potential is definitely there!

Remember the 3 P’s and take your time. Here’s a sprinkling of L-Factor magic dust to help you. GL my friend, get those pesky marmosets! Oh, and when you’re done, I’ll see you at the BP, and buy you a Marmoset Killer!

Really surprised I’m not seeing any new frustration with this level on challenge day. To fling birds that don’t have nearly the same destructive power as they do on other levels (most other levels) is causing me extreme frustration. Much like yesterday, when I got a cramp in my side from leaning so strenuously to the right as though it would cause red to topple the tower I’ve become a contortionist again today. Thankfully I scored above average once (my second fling – it seems to happen that way often) because it will allow me to quit with some small sense of achievement. Because another thing that’s clear when there are no new comments…no new strategies, lol. Good luck, anyway!

LOL @maiasatara! And I thought I was the only one who leaned over to get that tower to topple!! That, and involuntarily tipping the iPad when it looked like it was just about to fall over. I agree with you that new strats are unlikely today, and it is a frustrating level. It looks like the only way for a high score is to get a lucky hit on the beachball, and some good bounces to add points. I upped my score a little by the concrete block toppling onto the rubber ring, then bouncing up to take out the upper wood – pure luck of course. There’s always tomorrow…….:))

Over 10 hours into the Challenge the Most Improved Challenge score is still less than mine & my Rank is the same. I don’t think I’ve ever played a Challenge in all these years where this has happened. This level must have gotten A LOT harder & my only 2-birder in iPad so far is only 70k.
