Angry Birds Rio Airfield Chase Walkthrough Level 2 (9-2)

Our strategy for Airfield Chase level 9-2 is to fire the Red bird above the level into the small wooden block on the hill. This will release the boulders and do significant damage to the structure. As necessary, use the remaining Blue bird to attack the bottom of the level. The score in the video below is 98,610.

my method gets around 88-90k, but seems a little more reliable than the rocks.

1. aim the red bird to hit the sand beneath the gas can so that the gas can and rocks drop down to the oil barrels. this should destroy the left most bird or at least leave him exposed.

2. aim for the middle of the structure where all the ice is. that should take down most of the sturcture leaving a couple of birds on the ground.

3. aim the 3rd bird to bring the rocks down on the remaining structure. this should destroy the rest of the cages.

Hope this helps for people having trouble getting 3 stars with the other method.

This is definitely a way to get 3 stars, I found it on my own (the sand holding up and explosive and stack of rocks were just too tempting to ignore) I’ve even done it this way with 2 birds but not quite enough destruction to get > 91K. So if you’re simply going for 3 stars, fling away and you should get it in a couple of minutes. Going for > avg scores? Settle in, video method and heavy on the luck factor.

OMG !!!! how hard is this level !! Finally scored 97130 nothing but luck I think tho. Same method as video. It all hangs on where the concrete balls end up. I had 2 birds left and almost total destruction but pretty sure there’s 100k in there somewhere.

I too used the ABN video for this level. Challenging level to play and get an above average score. Interesting how the first shot produces so many different results. Most of the time the two round stones would not fall to the bottom. I would still shoot the second bird to break up some of the structure to get the stones falling again. It produced a few scores in the 90k range.

I tried the same method as the video and freed all the birds on the second shot. My score was 100690.

98, 920 EXACTLY the same as the video. I mean it was like watching a replay at the end, the final pieces slowly falling down. I think the 100k depends on the boulders and how they fall. Difficult level this one.

I finally nailed this one with a variation on the method:
1) hit the fuel can with the red bird to smash rocks into the upper part of the stack, collapsing as much as possible;
2) knock the blue bird (without splitting into 3) into the piece of wood holding the balls up, releasing them for a longer drop than if they are unleashed using the first (red) bird. In this way, they drop more destructively on the remaining lower stack.

I got mine like the video but less “debris’ points..Is it just me or does the first shot seem to work better if you get the red bird the hit the stone ball too…as to kinda push against them some..seems to give them a little more momentum?

I think you’re right about hitting the boulder as well to give them a bit more momentum. Also, hitting the boulder allows the red bird to bounce back more, I was always finding that red would just roll back onto the top of the structure and get in the way of the boulders from falling properly and doing much damage. This way he gets out of the way. Still a tricky level though, took many tries to get above average.

Ha! This video is a *lie* Red bird does nothing but get in the way, leaving those two boulders to sit at the top of the structure…or the roll off the side. When the game becomes this difficult, it loses is entertainment value. I wish the developers would realize this.

Kevin, try giving the red bird more of vertical arc. I’ve repeated that move plenty of times and the bird bounces away. If it wasn’t challenging it wouldn’t be fun, the entertainment is getting past the struggle. Keep going at it, I’m sure you’ll get it and go “hah, that wasn’t so bad”.

Don’t get me wrong, I like a good challenge, but man! Some of these levels that require precise angling of up to four birds on a little tiny Android screen can be dangerous to ones health (tongue in cheek). My old hands just can’t do it the way I’m watching it done. Thought I’d just mention that before the ban hammer comes down.

Score of 113,990 After many frustrating tries and getting high 2 star scores I came here just to see that I was already doing it the same as the video. Finally I flung the red bird high (nothing new), but when it came down and hit the little square holding the boulders I was amazed to see a difference in the way the boulders was falling and taking out everything. When they got to the bottom and broke then parts of the remainder debri hit the gas can. When all was done there was only one little sliver of debri left.

I agree with others, this is a hard one to get a high score. I was stuck around the low 90,000’s for ages but kept flinging away as per the video and finally got 99,930. I’m happy with that. I have no strategy advice other than to stay just keep flinging. The luck factor is very high with this one.
