A good strategy for Poached Eggs level 1-2 is to bounce the first red bird off the back hill so it bounces back and hits the tallest pedestal. This should cause a domino effect taking out all the pigs and leaving you with 40,000 bonus points. The score in the video below is 61,110.
Version 2022:
I have seen some high score videos with nearly 63,000 points. The score was achieved by skipping the bird off the head of all the first three pigs, breaking at least two or three wood blocks in the process. I don’t think this was done on iPhone. I believe this technique is impossible on iPhone. I’ve tried it a million times. So, it looks like 62,080 will be the highest I’m going to be able to achieve with the standard technique.
You can actually do this skipping thing (it’s more rolling though), it’s just going in reverse (highest first). Ain’t gotten enough time yet to do this, though :S

If the red bird can hit the piece of wood on the tall pole off the rebound it seems to produce more energy when hitting the lower pig and some results in breaking one piece of wood. Used the same strat as in the video.
There is also another strategy of bouncing the first red bird to the left of the tall pole. The bird bounces up to take out the tall pole and the pig and then bounces back to the left to take out the other three pigs. It worked twice but did not produce a higher score than what is posted.
Tips for eagle destruction on Chrome:
– Not too hard. Break the FAR RIGHT HORIZONTAL wood block with 1 of your birds. Then launch the can at the wood block in the front. Destroyed everything 5 times in a row.
– You can also just knock everything over as if you were getting 3 stars then lob the can in the front, note that the can mighty go in some crazy place.
It would be easier if you did the first step just like the video, and then launch the sardine can horizontally.
I went for a higher approach like the video shown and hit 61,000 right on the money.

Power ups change a lot of the top scores now… Just a simple shake on this level beat the previous high score by a lot…

Just saw that… so glad for the undo feature. This is gonna get to be a pain on the devices though because I don’t know which scores are without powerups.
We are working on more separation regarding that.
+62.xxx score is very repeatable with a “soft lob” to top of the first “T”. I haven’t broken 63K yet but @DonnMega has shown It can be done. And yes it can be done on IPhone to even if the “soft lob” is easier to execute on IPad.

Is 71k possible on this level without powerups?
I’ve been trying the “head-skipping” technique without complete success, but it’s a fun one to try.
No it’s not. 70k+ is only possible with Birdquake. I’ll take care of these scores.
Why I cant leave my score? it’s 70780 with birdquake…
Scores obtained via the Facebook version of Angry Birds are not permitted on our ABo leaderboard — namely Poached Eggs and Mighty Hoax. Facebook scores should only be entered on our Facebook-specific Leaderboards.

Still anyone interested in this old level? The soft lob has been an enigma for me. I finally solved it. It is almost impossible to do the soft lob on an Ipod with your fingers. I used a pinhead as a stylo(?) It is still difficult but repeatable. If you position the back top feather in the 90 degree angel of the little leaf (fully zoomed in) in the background and release. Repetition of course – but you will manage to break 63000.
@sweetp the top score for this level seems to be a mistake its more than 11k higher than all other scores, maybe a typo.

I got a score of 70880. I’m not kidding, I don’t know how, I’ve ever been able to replicate it. It was quite a while ago, actually, but it just seems so obscene … I swear, no power ups or anything
In harmony with above comment,on coming back to this level after a couple of years noticed my highest score was 10k above trophy holder.Had to double check I was on the right level.Anyway I tried again and got 71k first go,this must be alevel made easier somehow.
I’m replying to myself on this one so as not to mislead anyone.As it’s 3 or 4 years since I played ABC I think my scores must have been corrupted somehow as several other scores were way above leading scores on the nest.Have decided to uninstall and start from scratch and on doing this level again am consistently getting around 60k.Don’t know if anyone else has had similar issues?
The above comments were among the first I made here at the Nest. 3 years on and I’m still talking drivel. Just wanted to say this level seems to be playing a lot harder than the first level on 2022 version. Maybe it will even itself out.
@briann I have been playing the new release on my iPad and I’m having a dickens of a time on this level. I agree, it seems to be harder- or I’m getting older?
We’re all getting older @wanda. Just playing Classic by way of comparison and found apart from level 1 here the rest are playing either harder or similar. If you’re looking to improve your scores using Classic Ham ’em High and Mine’ n’ dine are good places to start.
I’ve been working my way through. Almost three starred all levels, but some scores aren’t near my old three star scores yet:-). I hope Rovio releases more classic AB games! I’m not much of a fan of newer games.

Ready, there is no problem, but what happens to me is that the last time I played was in June of this year, so I don’t have what the level looked like when I finished with the score. Of course I understand that it is prohibited to use power-ups, so I don’t know if the admins have seen that I am missing certain scores, and it is for this same reason, I am not planning to publish any scores if I used power-ups, if I wanted to do that, I wouldn’t have even thought of publishing my scores. @bernersenn I looked at the screenshot too. It is not a Classics screenshot, as the power ups bar clearly shows across the top of the screen. There are no power ups in Classics. This score must be from ABN and seems likely to be achieved with a power up, perhaps unintentionally. I think you should reconsider allowing the score.

I want to formally complain about all of the 14 scores that are listed as in 1st place in Poached Eggs as they are clearly impossible if the rules are adhered to. 2-14 for example is tens of thousands above second place.

Honestly, looking at the rest of the scores, my scores seem very high to me, but they are true. As far as I understand, if it is done with enhancers a little line appears next to the rating, which does not happen in my ratings. I really don’t understand how I achieved these scores. It would be good if someone asked Rovio what happened there.

For example, the final version of ABO was 8.3.0 which I am pretty sure this is not. Where did you get the game from, given that Rovio no longer distribute it?

This is not a Classics issue. All scores end in zero. If Power Ups are not being used, my best bet is that this is some sort of pirated version. There have been some odd things coming out of China.

Looking at these scores, it’s very likely they were done with Powerups. A few scores that are also close to first, like 2-5 and 3-1, also feel a bit suspicious.
In one of jujojasil12’s comments, I’m thinking “enhancers” means Powerups, “little line” is a lighting bolt, and “rating” is score. The lightning bolt only appears on the result screen when you use them on that attempt.

Thank you for posting these screenshots to show how Angry Birds records scores using power ups. This is exactly why ABN started requiring a screenshot of the tally screen when proving a top score – that is the only place where the lighting bolt shows when a power up has been used. After that, the game retains that power up score as the top score (as long as it is the top score) but no longer displays the lightning bolt, either within the level, like the screenshots provided by @jujojasil12, or on subsequent tally screens when that score is still the top score. I concur that the screenshots provided do not substantiate that the scores were not obtained with power ups and the scores should be removed.
I posted a previous comment here, but it’s awaiting moderation… I wanted to add something I didn’t spot when I first posted it.
I’ve just noticed that there’s a number of older comments saying they got 70k+ with the Birdquake Powerup. This one appears to have been confirmed judging by these comments. I also picked the same level to show the example, oddly enough.
