The latest update to the original Angry Birds (v1.6.2) is now available for iOS and Android via the Android Marketplace and Amazon Appstore. More platforms should be getting the update soon. This update includes chapter 16 of Mine And Dine (links to the original trailer).
In addition, we know this update includes:
- Rovio says that this update fixes the loading issue once and for all!
- 15 new levels within chapter 16
- There is at least one new Golden Egg. Checkout our Complete Golden Eggs Guide for the location and walkthrough.
- Additional achievements. No word yet on if the achievement bugs have been fixed, but we’ll try and confirm
- The minimum 3 star score on level 3-5 has been changed back (it was raised in the last update, but that was likely a mistake).
Below are some helpful links:
- The Angry Birds and Golden Eggs leaderboards.
- 3 star walkthrough are ready to help you!
- A breakdown of all the achievements available in Angry Birds.
16-1 and 16-3 are bugged; it’s impossible to get 100% Mighty Eagle Destruction. I can’t get a score of any higher than 99%, even if there’s nothing on the screen. I already reported to Rovio and, no surprise, they said absolutely nothing.
No, they are not bugged — I was able to get 100% on both levels (iPhone4).
Sorry Joe but they are not bugged. I got all 15 feathers on World 16 two days ago. It’s doable. (iPad 2)
Sorry AMslimfordy but Rovio confirmed there was bugs on these levels. They pushed a quick update to resolve this issue. Got both feathers with ease now. Thanks anyways.
Odd. I got all stars and all feathers on te first day
How?? I can not get 16-1 with mighty eagle….must have tried 100s of times…
We have a Mighty Eagle walkthrough for 16-1
It sucks. I dont get update on my nook until like a month later. And im so bored because they dont have seasons on nook and ive beat rio and all the regular levels with three stars and golden eggs, except not all mighty eagle feather because i have to go to b&n to use it
The issue is more that Nook is a brand new system. I think that, given a few months to get used to the coding, Nook will be simultaneous with iOS, Andrpid, Symbian (and hopefully Mac / PC). Don’t take it personally. It’s not anti-Nook… It’s just new
My husband claims to have seen an animated finger pop up on level 16-4, showing him where to tap. Has this happened to anyone else, or do I need to take him to the hospital for hallucinations?
There are walkthrough videos that show an animated finger, but it’s not actually in the game. The help screens also show a finger, but it’s not animated.
Sorry, I was wrong. It wasn’t animated, but it was in the game. I may need to get him tested…
You sure it wasn’t the finger on the help screen. Go into any level then hit the “?” and you’ll see “the finger”.
In Android the fingers pop up when is the first time with any birds, so wen you are about to use the special ability it’s pop up, but is only the first time you use a new bird.
sorry x my english is not my native language
Ah, I don’t remember ever seeing that. Thanks for sharing.
Bird Leader – I’ve seen it in the Nook version, but no where else. Kind of caught me by surprise.
hmm… maybe it was a weird bug, because it was in the middle of level 16-4, not for a new bird. Thanks!
If he sees it again have him snap a screenshot.
I bet there has been a lot of work. Some of the new “mine and dine” levels are quite difficult. I only found one more egg so far but if there is a hidden egg, there are plenty of hiding places.
So when will the rest of Mine and Dine be available on Nook? Does anybody know?
I haven’t heard and Rovio isn’t forthcoming with update info these days.
I can’t get update on HTC thunderbolt. Fails to install. Any suggestions
Move the app to phone and try the update again (instead of SD).
Ok so I have destroied everything except one shovel and only got 99%. Makes me think something is wrong. For those who got it 100% what did you do so that the rest of us can check our selves.
Please post this to the respective walkthrough page. We have some Mighty Eagle walkthroughs coming for some of these levels in chapter 16, but you don’t mention which one, so I can’t be sure.
Mine and dine 16-1.
It’s on the to-do list.
I have angry birds pre-loaded on my samsung infuse 4g (running android). Does anyone know how to update this version??
If I download angry birds via the marketplace it will install a 2nd copy of angry birds. The downloaded one is up to date (1.6.2) and includes the new levels, but unfortunately all my progress is only retained on the original copy :(
I would contact [email protected] and see what they have to say. I haven’t heard too much about the Pre-loaded system. I would advice not to change over to the Android Market app since the Infuse exclusively has the Pomplamoose Egg unless absolutely necessary.
Thanks, I will try. Right now it doesn’t seem to be a matter of switching over, I have both installed right now. The pre-loaded version won’t update and doesn’t have the mine and dine levels. The android market version has the new levels, but sadly not my progress :(
Thanks for the help though, I’ll contact them now, surely I’m not the only one with this issue.
I would think that if you installed the version from the Android Marketplace or Amazon Appstore it would overwrite the existing one and leave your progress intact. I originally had the ad supported version from the Marketplace, but when I got sick of the ads I purchased it through Amazon. It overwrote the ad supported version, but my progress remained. Proceed at your own risk, but I think it should work.
I cant seem to find it and at&t wont let you sidelosd. Those adds cause a lot of crashing. You can turn your data off and avoid them. I think I would pay anyhow as its a fair deal.
I guess backing up would be a good idea just in case.
Hmm, sorry if I wasn’t clear. I’ll try to clarify.
I have a pre-loaded version already installed. When I install Angry Birds from the android marketplace, it literally installs a 2nd copy side by side with the pre-loaded version, i.e. it doesn’t overwrite. Installing the paid version from the Amazon appstore only overwrites the android marketplace version, not the pre-loaded version. There are two angry bird apps on my phone right now; all my progress is on the pre-loaded version which so far I’m unable to update. Still waiting on a reply from Rovio.
I think that’s the best bet. Please let us know what the result is.
Alrighty, so Rovio responded, here’s the message in full:
“Thanks for contacting us!
Unfortunately, as the Samsung pre-loaded game and the Android version of Angry Birds are separate, you cannot transfer your saves between them. Also, the Samsung version can only be updated through the Samsung app store.
Best Regards,
Angry Birds Team
Now to make matters worse, when I go to samsungapps.com to try and download their appstore, I get a message saying it isn’t available in my country (the United States). I’d appreciate it if someone else from the US would give it a shot, just to make sure I’m not crazy. There’s even a “PC version” so you don’t need a samsung phone to check. Thanks.
I think you need to contact Samsung about that one (I tried and you are correct; non-US). I would think that’s an oversight, but it would be good to check with them.
Well, I think this is the end of the road. I contacted Samsung with no success. Although Rovio told me to contact them regarding the update of the app (as shown in the email I posted above), Samsung told me that they don’t offer support for 3rd party software, and could only provide assistance with the phone’s hardware.
It seems neither company is responsible for the app, I would urge anyone to just purchase the app from Amazon for $1. No in-game ads, and you’ll get the most up-to-date version.
I almost forgot, but thanks to those who helped me out. I guess I’ll be playing through the first one again :/
Your welcome. That is most disappointing. If you purchase the game through Amazon can you transfer over your progress? We do have instructions on how to do this in the forum. While not easy, I think it might be possible even on an unrooted phone. You could also try one of the AB Backup apps, but it might be worth contacting the developer to make sure it works on preinstalled versions. If you need me to provide links to either of those let me know.
Still no support for updating on the preloaded infuse version. Anyone else have any luck yet?
Samsung App store is still not available in the United States. Canada and Mexico have it, and a lot of South America. I’m sure it’ll come to the US eventually. In the mean-time, I refuse to start over again, as I already had to play through the first 5 stages a 2nd time since the first time I did it I had an iPhone. Now I’m stuck with the Infuse problem of not having all the levels. Wish I knew this before I played it on this phone. Anyway, why not just download the one off the Android market, since it’s also free, and then just pick up with Mine and Dine and go from there? It’s a start at least.
Anyone know when this update will be available for symbien phones?
No word yet, sorry.
when this version come for symbian 3?
When will AB be updated on the Motorola Droid? It’s August 23rd and I have not had an update on AB, ABS, or ABR in a long time…
Angry Birds Rio was updated on the 8/18 and that update should be in the Android Marketplace in a few days. Angry Birds Classic was updated on 7/25, so we probably won’t see another update for a few weeks.
I’ve completed v1.6.1 and want to upgrade. Do you lose all of your 3-stars when you upgrade on the Anroid Marketplace?
You should not lose any stars, but when upgrading any app it is never a 100% guarantee.
Is this the end of AB? unless the next is underwater or space it seems so
