Surprise for iOS users! Remember that old app called Angry Birds Free? No? Considering it’s been 14 months since the last update, SURPRISE! Jump to the AppStore to grab v1.6.0 and enjoy the latest update.
A few details:
- 30 new levels! We have 3 star walkthroughs available for all Angry Birds Free levels, and these ones will be added soon.
- The old “Roman” chapters have been removed and the app now looks like the original (full) Angry Birds app. So the 30 levels are mainly add-ons to the old chapters, plus 5 levels in Red’s Mighty Feathers and 5 in Short Fuse
- The leaderboard is coming soon, so you can enter your scores there.
Angry Birds Free is currently only available for iOS device.
Played it this morning, and it’s got problems, hang ups mainly.
Wow that’s an unexpected update.
Gotta admit, I didn’t see that coming. It’s always the free ones u never expect updates for.
But these are the same levels as in the full game, aren’t they? Though without Power Ups, which makes Level 3 in Short Fuse much more interesting.

Great to see an update, just wondering, will you be adding the ‘full version’ level equivalents to the walkthrough descriptions any time soon please?
Example: on ABfree level 21-3 description it states “This is Level 21-7 from Bad Piggies in the full Angry Birds app. Feel free to check out that page for more strategies.”
@leggy We’ll take a look and see what we can do :)
Also I removed your other comment since the issue seems to have sorted itself out?
@amslimfordy
Thank you, we must have been on the same page at the same time [insert spooky music here] because I just went back and added a comment to my previous one and my previous comment disappeared after selecting ‘send reply’ – could you remove second comment and this one also please, sowwy!
For the first and, presumably, last time of my life, I am faaaaaaaaar ahead of everyone on the leaderboard, with an easy 1.9 million points lead over invincible @vuelva :

But of course, this is only because I was the first to end the new levels and enter my (necessarily top)scores…

enjoy! (-: if you start feeling lonely at the top, let me know :-)
ABF being restricted to iOS and not having PUs, ABF scores posted could
give some insight in the ABO leaderboards for the levels they share.
(does anyone know whether ABF and ABO actually have the same code
(for the play, obviously not for the buttons) for these levels?
can one tell from any screenshot whether it is from ABF or ABO?)
that was intended to be a reply to @sglouk
@vuelva
You don’t have the power up button, nor the mighty eagle one on the free version. Apart from this, I don’t know. I took a screenshot of the first Short Fuse level, and I do not see any difference. However, since I do not play much ABO/ABF, I cannot tell if there are any more subtle differences. All I can tell is that I hated some (possibly) identical levels the same in each version.
other than the (permanent) boomerang birds in ABF in levels 6-4 and 9-5, play seems the same. i was asking since from the new layout it seems that rovio will gradually copy more and more levels of ABO to ABF (my guess: next release 5 more from every episode). apart from the current layout here at ABN getting unwieldy, if the code is shared/levels are exactly the same, then i think there is little point in copying all videos and having two separate leaderboards (of course there are still ABF-only levels, but my guess is that they will be integrated into ABO); anyway, let’s see what happens.
btw unlike the previous version, the current ABF update is playable with wifi switched-on: adds have become far less disruptive.
Had problems with this update on the iPhone. After loading the update the game would not open, it just would reset to the desktop icon. I had to delete the game and reload it from iTunes. The end result was that the game did open but all the scores in the previous played levels were erased.
The good aspects of this situation is that it was the free game and not too many levels to replay. Should be fun.
I have updated the PC, but all I see ” Is Coming Soon”!! I can’t access any of the levels!! Has it even been updated/released for PC???
@TerribleTom This post is not quite relevant to PC releases, as ABFree is an iOS-only app.
PC should have v4.0.0 of ABo, which means Red’s Mighty Feathers is indeed included.
Much thanks Slim!! I hadn’t noticed that it was for ABFree. I only noticed the “Short Fuse” Thanks again!
Danger above 2 was also removed in this update
