Suppose that your Game Center nickname is `to mock a mockingbird’ (which you like because
it connects logic to birds). Suppose moreover one day you find that your nickname has been
changed into `great peace’ (sic).

Wouldn’t you be anxious about your data (changing your nickname can only be done using your appleID and
password; the same one used for purchases). If you then would find out from itunesstore support,
being redirected there via AppleCare, that your data is safe but your nickname /was/ changed because it /was/ /either/
offensive /or/ inappropriate as reported by /several/ other people, and that upon asking they can tell you neither
what Apple thinks offensive or inappropriate about the nick nor who has changed it nor who reported this and why,
and that for changing it back one should contact AppleCare. Then upon contacting AppleCare they
would tell you that they can do nothing about that and you would be redirected to itunesstore support. Then
the latter, upon asking whether they can resolve the problem within Apple by communicating with other
departments, respond by saying: “we cannot communicate with other departments. we are only an e-mail queue;
please post suggestions for improving our process …”. Then, contacting AppleCare, they say we cannot help you
we are for technical support and this is not technical, we can put you through to customer relations, and the latter
only say they have filed the complaint under an AppleCare case nr, and we /will/ investigate this,
wouldn’t you be exasperated?? wouldn’t you change your nickname into `protest to Apple changing nick’?

I think it is very bad that Apple is forcing you to use cloud-like-services and then argues that because of
that they are responsible for (own?) your data, and then start policing and changing it (yes, your data) in opaque ways,
opening the doors to harrassment among other things. The whole idea of Apple forming its own `state’
in this way is not a good one.

(My simple theory is that being high on the leaderboards of some game in Game Center increases the chance of
people reporting your behaviour/nick as being inappropriate. The same happened to a co-worker.
Why there’s no mechanism in Apple to check these reports etc. is beyond me.)

Just saw that angry birds free has been updated so one can play all levels of the first few episodes of ABO. well, that’s what it says in the update on my ipad. didn’t update yet, but wondered whether this update will be reflected here at ABN, in the AB Free Leaderboards @admins ?
