Walking mortar towers are impossible to miss when they occur in a level. They shoot giant balls of flaming killing fire and in some levels you get 4 or more at a time. Your bot can blow them up but you need to be at least a grade 7 or higher. Believe me you will know them when you see them. When you shoot them they have a green lifeline that runs horizontally along their body that will turn red until it blows up. Happy hunting!

I don’t know about needing to be L7 or higher to kill them – I was killing mortar towers with characters well below that.

But it does depend on the difficulty rating of the node you’re running – obviously a mortar tower on a “hard” level is more difficult to kill than a mortar tower on an “easy” level.

Certain TFs have greater success against them, for example I’ve found Starscream, Galvatron, and Lockdown to have a higher rate of success in general.

Thank you for chirping about this.

Actually its not the difficulty of the node but how big the towers are. For example the ones who shoot 1-3 fireballs are small ones. The ones who shoot 4 have bigger blasters. And the 5 ball ones have huge blaster. Look at their hands the next time you see one and see how big they are.

That’s a good point, never really noticed that. I was meaning more in a general sense that the harder a node, the more powerful the mortar towers would be.

Good to know that there’s actually a way to tell how tough they are though.

For me, I usually just take a pot shot or two at them to check how much damage I can do, and decide from that whether or not to bother trying to kill it. For example, if I can take 1/3 of its health from a single Galvatron shot, then I’m definitely going for it.

I destroyed A walking tower today and it felt good. Haha. I finally am high enough to see those huge balls of fire coming towards my bot. WOOOOOOOOO

Thanks, they have finally occurred for me – mind you, I would be better off if they had not

I wish that when you bounce the fireballs back at them with the “state farm” shield (and you can aim the deflection angle sometimes if you try) That it would cause them damage. So Far I have been able to Bomb them back in what look like direct hits but they don’t seem to to any damage. Anyone else?

@hxadecmel- I agree with you. I can never seem to hurt walking mortar towers by bouncing (even three) fireballs back (or near) them. Also, I learned that the deadly falling monoliths can also reflect the even deadlier fireballs away from my non-sheilded bird (or pig) robot!
