Angry Birds Challenge
Welcome to the updated Angry Birds Challenge! Every day there will be a RANDOM level selected for you to play. Play for fun or use it as an excuse to improve your current score. A great goal is to try and beat the "Average" score below. Already done that? Then pork up and try to fling your way into the "Top 50"! Done that too?! Then take on the ultimate task and shoot for the "Highscore"! There is also a layer of competition here, as this page is connected to the leaderboard, so if you can improve your score you may also improve your rank. That said, don't enter lower scores here.

The end of anything. Evolutions stopped 2 years ago, the classic game only playable in airplane mode, seasons had a message not being supported anymore and now space too. Sad to see a good concept being neglected.
Bluestacks seems to be the only option if you want guaranteed access to the classic games. Otherwise it seems a bit random. I can get into ABO if there is an “r” in the day.

Amazon has now launched an app called LUNA. One of the games is called Flock Party which would seem to the Classics version with an extra level. There is a twist to it as on some maybe all levels the player can select which bird is used. Are these scores going to be allowed? @admins @comex666 @asher and anyone else who may be interested
Bird switching seems a step too far for any chance of parity.
I do sometimes wonder whether Bird choice in the original game would have been a good addition.

As @meanguy mentioned in the Summer Pignick_1-21 thread, today’s Challenge was Rio Beach Volley,level 25. However, suddenly, it changed to the Nests perennial favorite Pignick 1-21. Presuming you can’t change it back today, please do whatever is in your power to stop either this Pignick episode or the Space Solar System Saturn episode for being the next day’s challenge.

Is anyone else playing on an iPad and did you get a message about Seasons now,onger being supported? The part about “your game play may be interrupted was a bit disconcerting.
Yeah, that message is popping up for every discontinued game (original classic, epic etc). As of now it doesn’t do anything so nothing to fear about.
@suske Hi. You are new to The Nest I note. Welcome. However I notice that in the last few days you have been submitting some second place scores on the Daily Challenge. I have to ask if you can evidence these scores with screen shots? I ask because these are very difficult challenges and not easily accomplished by even the top players as they are are really difficult. I am asking @admins to look into this.

Nobody has even entered an improved score so I think your top score is safe. Something may have changed over the years but I think if the average score is 125k, and that’s just about impossible most of the time then …?
I’ve tried a number of times and couldn’t get anything above average. I know it sounds selfish but I have so few high scores that I’m kind of happy with todays result. ?

Feels like the 1st to me (yes I know there is ambiguity). But also, this looks and feels like a Hollydogs level.
My assumption too @desperate-dan. They do it every year starting Dec 1st, and here we are – well, already 18 hours in where I am! ‘Tis the season etc etc…So, no regular puppies for the next four weeks.
If we have a Hollydog from a previous Christmas can we get another?
I think you know the answer to that @steviep147! While I have your attention, can I ask a question of the Bluestacks guru. I have been played ABO quite happily on Bluestacks for the last year or so, as it is the only way I have of reliably accessing older versions or even version 8.3. About a week ago I started crashing out repeatedly after about 10 minutes due a screen that comes up and freezes the game. The screen is an ABO one, not Bluestacks because it features red bird on the left holding what could be a phone, a no entry sign in the middle and a globe on the right. I don’t know what it means or how to prevent it. Have you ever seen this? It makes playing impossible and has never occurred before in identical set up circumstances. Any advice? Thanks.
I play ABO on Bluestacks using Win 10 side loaded onto a Mac Book Pro. I also have Space and Seasons on it which run without problem. ABO is temperamental. If Wi-Fi is on it loads to a certain point and then crashes completely returning me to the BlueStacks screen. It has to be loaded without Wi-Fi access to begin with. After that it will freeze from time to time, usually just 10-30 seconds but sometimes it’s a lot longer. I think ABO and BlueStacks are trying to access the net to load up ads there is some sort of software conflict between them. My solution to this is to briefly switch on the Wi-Fi until it unfreezes and then quickly switch it off again. After a while it runs almost normally! I’m used to it now ?. Let me know if this helps.
Thanks for that explanation @steviep147. I am using a PC with 4Mb RAM. I have had no problem loading and using ABO as long as I don’t go past version 3.4.0 (until the last couple of weeks that is). Beyond 3.4.0 the PC struggles more and more. Version 6.0.6 is doable on a good day but 8.3.0 just freezes. That’s all down to RAM though. I think what you are saying about adverts might be a good clue. I went a couple of months with no ads at all (bliss) but maybe it’s because of Xmas they are trying to load up and I get the freeze. That would explain the timing of about 10 mins every time. All good before that point. Not sure how your Wi-Fi comments help me as it is on all the time. Perhaps I am being thick.
On another point, I have flogged hard over many years to get up to 89500000 on the ABO leaderboard and into 3rd place behind you and @asher. I’m never going to catch you so I think it’s more fun now to add in my Classics scores, especially as @hallieginsb has moved past me and laid down the challenge. There is a definite subset of (I’m guessing) about 70 levels that have improved so rather than being a slog through all of the early levels it’s actually a manageable number to do. And I have always found smashing wood and blasting stone in Ham ‘Em High and Mine ‘n’ Dine very cathartic. Much more cathartic than a lot of these Hollydog levels that are so frustrating. So that’s a heads up but it still won’t be enough to catch you up.
Re the Wi-Fi ?. Find the icon for it and just disconnect. Win 10 has it on the bottom right. Re high score leader board. Never say never!
I’m going to keep adding Classics scores until I reach 90 million, then I’ll take them off again. Don’t know how long that will take but should be possible. I’d rather get there without Classics but that’s a much longer shot.

Not going to happen. I did give them a try but not for me. Too much like using Power Ups. I deleted the app after it wanted to know how old I was ?. If you go ahead of me so be it. I’ll know and so will you! I’m waiting for the day when the daily challenge comes up with one of those iffy scores that just happens to end in a zero! I did wonder today if the high was one but realised it wasn’t. The board has gone to the dogs allowing them in IMHO. GL
Just to say @steviep147, the total benefit to me of using Classics is currently 1157484 points. I’m only 875k ahead of you in the rankings so I still need 282k from somewhere to properly overtake you which I think is a very long shot. As for @asher, I still can’t get within 300k even with that extra million or so extra points. But I’ll keep plugging away…

Anyone having trouble uploading pictures. I’m still trying to get @sweetp proof of a puppy for yesterday’s Challenge. The message just says “angrybirdsnest.com can’t process request at this time” or something similar.
Depends what equipment you are using. I cannot upload screen shots directly from my iPhone. Because of the format, I think they are in either HEIC or PNG I get an error message saying they are too large. There are lots of ways around this but the easiest is probably to just email the picture to yourself save the image and then upload it. Uploading from my Mac goes without a hitch. Let me know and we’ll done the puppy, that was an almost impossible task.
Thanks. I am only doing what I have done hundreds of times before. Tried both on PC and Android. File is a small .png. I’m not getting the too large message that sometimes occurs. The message implies that the website temporarily can’t do something rather than blaming my file. Bit of a shame really, it was a spectacular score. I jumped from 52k to 54k (twice) without ever getting any 53k scores. No idea how.

went to play store this morning to update apps. update there for red’s first flight have they changed the name of angry birds classic
When I click on the link for today’s Space Cosmic Crystals challenge, It takes me to Rio Jungle Escape Walkthrough Level 19. Also the scores are off. Top score on CC Mirror M7-18 is 200K plus not 125K quoted on the challenge page. Is this just a glitch for me? Anyone else experienced it?

Very disappointed that this is taking so long to resolve. My main reason to use the site is for the daily challenge, and whilst I appreciate the work that goes on behind the scenes, I don’t understand why it’s taking so long. I’ve been an “Uncaged” subscriber for many years but it’s no longer worth shelling out $20, so I’ve cancelled my automatic subscription payments. Such a shame.

The challenge is back! Well, I hope it works. I have tested a ton, but I’m still not 100% sure the rotation will work as intended, but if it doesn’t, I’ll fix that.
Since it’s too time consuming for someone to manually setup all the challenges, it will now randomly choose one level from hundreds of past challenge-worthy levels.
I know it’s not quite as wonderful as @sweetp‘s hand-selected levels, but that just wasn’t sustainable.

Hi, @birdleader that’s great news. But there’s a problem with my Uncaged subscription. Per my earlier message I cancelled my automatic recurring subscription payment due next April. However, I paid my yearly subscription of $19.99 on April 27th this year, so still have over four months of membership to go. But when I logon today my profile shows no active Uncaged membership, even though I’m paid up until next April
Now the challenge is back I’m happy to restore my subscription when it becomes due next year. In the meantime could you please reactive my current membership. Thanks!

Twice recently I have improved my score shortly after the challenge begins, and my name is listed under the “Improved” heading. After a few hours the list is cleared and appears blank again, even with several hours of the Challenge still to go. Incidentally, the countdown clock is still not functioning. Thanks!
Hi @birdleader great to have the challenge back but the high score showing for ABSW J-39 is 173,330. Trophy score is 93,810. Hopefully @sweetp will get a much earned break over the holidays!
Something a bit odd on today’s challenge. The high score in the episode is 130,356, but the highscore in the Challenge header is 173,330.

Hi again @birdleader. The problem I mentioned about the “Improved” listing is happening again today. I took screenshots to illustrate it but the pictures fail to upload to my album. I’ll try to explain.
1. I logged into the Nest a few minutes after the current challenge started. The countdown clock now defaults to only eight hours at the start of the challenge. When I opened the challenge page the clock displayed only 7h 55m 11s remaining even though the challenge just started. The section under the heading “Improved” was empty as no one had entered scores yet.
2. Next time I logged into the Nest, the clock display showed 3h 5m 53s remaining. There were now 3 players’ scores listed under the “Improved” column:

3. An hour and a half later the clock display showed 1h 36m 10s remaining. The scores of Ozmongoose and PeeJayDee27 had now disappeared. There was now only 1 players’ score listed under the “Improved” column:

4. Now, with 2 hours remaining, the clock display is 0 0 0 and there are 2 players’ scores listed – anton249 and Dr O’Neski.
I hope this explanation makes sense. As I say, I took screenshots but get an error message that the pictures don’t meet the criteria to be uploaded.

Just as an update @birdleader, the “disappearing improved scores” is still occurring. It seems to be related to the fact that the countdown still clock only runs for 8 hours and not 24. If you enter an improved score during the first 8 hours it shows up. Once the clock displays 0-0-0 for the remaining 16 hours of the challenge, any improved scores entered before then are deleted. On today’s challenge for example @hoy49 entered his improved score quite early on, but it disappeared from the Improved column later. I could be wrong but it seems to be related to the countdown clock.

Hi @birdleader. I would be quite happy to keep tabs of any puppies achieved in the Challenge if people want to message me. Just so the record is available if required in the future. I don’t think we have missed many. It might encourage a bit more participation, especially with some of the weird levels coming up randomly at the moment. Just a thought. Not asking for any official role, just an informal way of keeping count and advising if any milestones have been reached.

I agree with you. There are almost no new users in Nest now.I may be the only new user active in 2025.
If I had to guess, because of the fact that the vast, VAST majority of the active Angry Birds community nowadays has moved on to other social media like Discord for discussion on the series (including Rovio themselves mind you, they’ve settled there too!), there’s kinda no real reason to use this site that much anymore unless you’re either a long-time user of it, or are visiting it as a sort of time capsule for walkthroughs on some levels. Sorry, it’s kinda just how things evolve on the internet, sadly.
I suspect the number of players in The Nest reflects the number of Angry Birds players. And the game itself is a bit of a time capsule. No new updates (apart from the money grabbing bits), no chance for new players to even get hold of many games, including the largely unsupported original game. The nest is where you end up if you google Angry Birds so I doubt there’s much going on elsewhere of interest to Nesters. I could be wrong but this is a game that’s over 15 years old and its heyday was probably over 10 years ago. At no stage have Rovio ever helped themselves, IMO.
Well I can definitely confirm this to you right now, there definitely are thousands upon thousands of people that very much DO still care about Angry Birds (to the point of fan work like mods/fangames and animations outright outweighing the amount of stuff Rovio themselves has been doing… kinda sad if you think about it), it’s just that… yeah. Essentially none of it ever reaches The Nest due to how old and forgotten this site is for most people.
I think a big part of the problem is I had to shut down registration because spam was out of control. Well, you can actually still register but your account never becomes active so it’s useless.
I will revisit this next week to see if I can get a handle on it. The issue is these registration are not bots, but actual humans so they can easily bypass standard protections.

Others may think along these lines, but I’d like to register it. As Bikeborb1 says, bigger AB communities are outside the Nest, on popular social media… But a huge part of content there focuses on storytelling/art/media/characters aspects of the franchise. When regarding gameplay, most people seem to bother at most with 3-stars, almost no care about the highscoring potential which the Nest develops so incredibly (as Dr O’Neski says, it’s the BEST place to compete)… This agrees with Dan that, to traditional Nesters like him, things out there haven’t been of much interest.
@birdleader, feedback, I’m not the best person to say it but I’ll say: maybe partnering with modded AB games or so? There seem to be several mod versions of AB games, some bringing whole fan-made levels and episodes (taking ABSp as an example, mods like “ABSp Extra Planets” and the recent “AB Far Galaxies” do so, and don’t have powerups). Sure it would require careful thought, but these should be considered, imo. (Imagine scoring strats/competition, or some walkthroughs, or insight into modding)
Huge respect to the Nest and all it does! Both it and the outside communities seem to be very different takes on AB. (I was a 3-starring player as recently as 2022, and just now I’m posting scores on some random levels while leaving other levels untouched lmao).
This is actually a very good idea I did not think about, huh… But yeah if the creators of the mods in question are fine with it, bringing more awareness to the mods’ existance by hosting leaderboards for them on this site could be pretty neat, huh… Of course, it’s all just an “if”, but an interesting “if” at that honestly. I’d vouch for this if, again, permissions are all alright.
Yeah, would be cool to see. Though I’d totally understand if it’s not possible for now, like if the Nest chooses to deal with its current functionalities (as Bird Leader says about accounts/spam, and the Daily Challenge reformulation months ago). Again, many props to him and others for all the hard and good work!

Angry Birds Star Wars II as challenge?? @birdleader
Challenge today is ABSWII level P2-17, complete with the top scores leaderboard and link to the level. Screenshots one and two, taken at 23h22min in timezone GMT-3 (just 22min after the challenge is revealed here). Not much else I can say.
As of today, I have as well as a couple of others mentioned, have seen a massive decrease in activity with this game. It seems less people are playing it, than during 2023 alone!! I would be sad for anything to happen to the nest. But mind you, this is a very old website.
No offense to be rude, but. This site was created in about 2010 if I am correct? 15 years old!! Nearly as old as the game. If we need to do something, for a start we need to get people to find this website. Mods as mentioned, are a great place to start!
Its hay day was roughly from about 2012-2014. Which makes sense, due to how many Angry Birds games there are. Plus, all those game were very popular too!
I would love if there could be a way of really getting this game out there! I would love if more people could come to this website, or revisit the game again. It really has endless potential!!!

The name of today’s challenge shows AB Seasons, Ski or Squeal 1-14, but it all redirects to AB Star Wars, Death Star 2 level 6-4 (the shown leaderboard, avg score and top score to beat are all of this Star Wars level, which must be the actual level we must play). I am hardly surprised. The Challenge is obsessed with Star Wars. I’m getting heartily fed up with it.

And here we go again! Trouble is I can’t access this episode further than level 1. Level 2 offers me a purchase option or unlock by 3 * every level but it doesn’t work as it will not connect to the web. 😏
