Asking for Essence of Friendship

Hi! I have around 30 active Facebook friends who play the game more or less every day. However, I’ve noticed that although I’ve asked for Essence of Friendship 3 days in a row, I have only received 2 in total, whereas I get at least 20 people helping me open Friendship Gates (the notification pops up even after five people have helped and the Gate is opened).

Why is this the case. May it be that Rovio is throttling the amounts of Essence of Friendship that you can get from friends?
