The second Angry Birds Movie trailer is out and it’s even better than the first. This trailer reveals more of the pigs, birds, and gives us our first glimpse of the Mighty Eagle. Just, whatever you do, don’t swim in his lake of wisdom. Definitely don’t drink the water. Sorry Bomb and Chuck.
So … what do you think?
I really like the new trailer.. Just, everytime I think about the water I lost my appetite..
great trailer! you should ask annoying orange to trash this new angry birds movie trailer!
you should make outtakes of this movie!
when will we see the blues?
great trailer. but i’m worried about red. the hatchlings seem to tease him because of his eyebrows.
Ending – lol :))
The new trailer is funnier than the first one. I laughed so hard with the last scene. :D
Remember, never drink water from Mighty Eagle’s lake. :)
Outstanding trailer, it really makes one to what to see the movie. Ought to be a great film for it’s film category. Nice job Rovio and the film makers.
Oh yea, don’t just love the ME’s lake scene, funny with the reactions of the birds.
@wrw01 I loved that scene too. I also loved the scene where the pig drums with his own butt. :D
I am so excited I could explode!! 8D
You do not have to be a little rude in the mighty eagle
Yay a new trailer is out! Loved every second of it, and naturally as a movie/AB/Lego addict, I analysed every scene in there, the scenes, characters, possible plot developments, design, and my thoughts,
SPOILER ALERT, even though all that follows are purely speculation, but the new Lego sets do reveal some plot points..
SORRY FOR THE LONG READ AHEAD.
0.00 to 0.04: This is a scene we had seen before in the first trailer, in Red’s house, but a few points to take note, the designs of all Bird structures are closely
integrated with nature, and uses natural materials. Also, the bark on the trees resemble feathers. Fairly simplistic too.
0.04 to 0.12 Again a scene we had seen, but note how Red’s house resembles…an egg! (vaugely). Interesting choice of a sprial staircase up to the roof. Also, is he
living alone? The beach doesnt seem to be in a neighbourhood of any sort, whichh would help establish his character (insocialble). Also, note that this is the only
time we had seen Blue(s). It is rather sad, as the Blue(s) wont be playing a huge role in the movie, as no Lego figurine of them are included in any set. Hopefully the
sequel would flesh them out further. This is quite a nice touch in establishing their personality too though. Again that the beach is rather uninhabited.
0.12 to 0.18 Now this is getting interesting as the movie delves into Red’s past, showing that he is insociable and often being bullied. Some points to note, he is
painting a sculpture of Mighty Eagle, meaning that he had started to idolise him from a young age, and he even got the colours right! (he mixed red with green i
think). His other classmates, on the other hand, are busy producing coloured eyebrows to tease Red. I mean seriously, there were only eyebrows on their table =P In
the meanntime, note the artworks on display in the background, (How did they manage to do a human handprint??!). Again, note how closely integrated with nature the birds’ architecture are.
0.18 to 0.28 This is a scene we had seen before, so I wont comment too much. Note how the trees’ bark resemble feathers. Behind the girls though, theres a tiny little
subplot where a bird picked up an apple and was figuring out what it was by poking it, turning it upside down, rolling it down the hill and eventually kicking it.
Quite amusing really =P
0.29 Our only look at Bird Island (I think its called that). Note the beach on the left, the cliffs on the right, and the Mighty Eagle Mountain in the middle, poking
above the clouds. As a person who is obsessed with Angry Birds Epic, there are a lot of similarities with Piggy Island, the one that we all know now…and the most
important difference between the two islands is the Mighty Eagle mountain being changed into a pig snout…Speculation time! Maybe in the climax the pigs would bring
the mountain down? It does serve both as a great action setpiece and also as a symbolic gesture of their goodwill =P
0.29 to 0.32 Again some scenes that we had seen before, note the amusing store names (Early Bird Worms and Late Bird Worms) and their designs, being closely integrated
to nature.
0.32-0.33 Our first look at a very strange looking bird! Hes nothing we had seen before, with a high neck/collar, short arms/wings, and an overbearing personality. My
guesss that its a village elder at this point of time, but later in the trailer we would see him wearing a Sheriff hat, so I’m assuming hes one =P He does not appear
in any of the Lego sets, so its safe to say that hes not integral to the overall storyline.
0.33 to 0.38 We see Red showing his angry side. Honestly I wouldn’t blame him! Having my popcorn covered in mucus (EWW!) would make me pretty angry too =P The design
of his sneezing companion seems generic, but he does look sick. The hatchling is simply adorable. Note the hand holding a flag in front of Red when he sticks his
tongue out. Maybe the hatchling’s parents? I wouldn’t blame them too =P
0.38 to 0.40 Nothing of note.
0.41 to 0.43 The doctor scene is hilarious imo! XD He is demonstrating a “knee jerk effect”, where the knee should react by moving forward in an involuntary action.
Instead, his hand reacted and slapped the doctor in the face! Content aside, note that the doctor is NOT wearing a jacket (its just his feathers that form the white
patch that looks suspiciously like a jacket!) and the several diagrams in the background (the pain assessment tool is a very nice touch.).
0.43 to 0.45 He stands up to the elder, showing a more moral-of-the-story side of this movie.
0.45 to 0.54 Now this we had all seen before in even greater detail than whats shown here, and all I have to say is that personally I didnt find this particularly
funny and that this takes place outside the anger management class (its included in the Lego set of it).
0.54 to 0.58 Nothng much too. I do find Red’s quip rather amusing though.
0.58 to 1.00 PIGS ARE COMING!!! I LOVE PIGS!! Excitement aside though, the ship we had seen before, but allow me to analyse the design of this scene. First of all,
note that the sun is setting, in contary to the sunny bright daylight of all previous scenes. More on that later though. The ship itself is of a steampunk design, and
it uses a pirate base with a steampunk addon, meaning that it starts of with a piratey design, and made it steampunk by adding steampunk elements onto it, rather than
the other way around. Also, the nature of steampunk is like the Industrial revolution imo, with great emphasis of metal, inorganic elements and gears, which is in
direct contrast with the birds houses’ designs which integrate very well with nature. Loved the very nice pig snout insignia (which I totally support being the
official logo for the pigs) being the frontlight (Note that the light is GREEN, which is a colour used throughout the trailer for the antagonists), and there are
several references to other Rovio games, like Bad piggies (where else did the idea of a balloon come from? =P) and AB2/ABS (the exhaust).
1.00 to 1.02 Our first look and dialouge form Stella, who I suspect will play a big part in the movie (she comes in one set).
1.02 to 1.04 We did see the first part, where the drawbridge comes down with a big THUMP. Note Terence, Hal and Bubbles in the crowd, as well as the doctor we saw
previously. The second part where Leonard did the voiceover is the new part, where a wheel is turned bearing the snout insignia revealing GREEN SMOKE inside. Again
note that like the Kung Fu Panda trilogy, a colour is assigned to the villains. In fact, Kung Fu Panda 3 uses green for its villain Kai, Red for Lord Shen before, and
Blue for Tao Lung for the first movie.
1.04 to 1.08 We had seen all these scenes before (I have a feeling that the I am a pig line will go down in AB history)
1.08 to 1.11 New pig scenes! Yay! First note that there are oars landed in the sand (shown in its Lego form too) and the purpose of the boulder in the ship’s front is
revealed too in the background–an anchor! Genius! Also note the crowd observing, which consists of Terence (wow hes fat), Hal and Bubbles. The doctor and the shrieff
are also present. There are some scenes with Red standing slighty in front of the crowd, implying that he would stand up to those invasive porcines? Love how
accurately the animators had captured the generic look of the minion pigs with this new movie, looks great =D The minion pig jumping into Stella’s arms is a gem =P
Also, note that Bubbles is apparently being crushed by Hal’s giant beak. Shame that they are not major characters in this movie, (no lego figures are produced based on
them)
1.11 to 1.15 Now finally after many teasers and one offcial trailer, the eggs are finally revealed! I am still curious to know the reason for their absence in the
first trailer though -P Anyways it looks as if the eggs are going to serve as the catalyst that causes the pigs to become villains, like in the games. Note the
appearence of the gituar pig, and the elder wearing a shrieff hat. I LOVE the camera with a pig’s snout for its lens! (pause at 1.15 to see it) A very creative design,
and the minion pig holding it at its nose makes it more comical =P
1.15 to 1.20 Now, if you pause at just the right time at 1.16, you can see Leonard having a sly smile when the shrieff starts reprimanding Red. He is certainly villain
material. This part of the trailer just shows the friction between the elder and Red, and note the height difference, which gives the shrieff a sense of authority. A
minion pig slapping its butt is certainly unexpected, and I still couldnt figure out which part of the movie it belongs to. Maybe during the pig’s introductions? Or in
the climax when they tease the birds? It’s anyone’s guess.
1.20 to 1.24 Argueably the most important part of this trailer, as it gives us glimpses into the pig’s evil plan. First, Red looks through a binoculars in the day, but
the next scene is in the night. Which brings me to my next point: Night represents “pig power”, while daylight represents “bird power” in a sense. Hence, it makes
perfect scene for the pigs’ introduction to take place during sunset. Now in 1.24 we see many pigs running about at night throwing eggs to one another and collecting
them in a huge pile. First, note our first glimpse of the MUSTACHE PIG on the right, taking notes on the clipboard! Love the foreman’s hat on his head, a nice touch.
Second, note that the pig running in the foreground is carrying part of the destroyed Angry Birds sign which says “Smile!” (destroyed by Red eariler in the trailer),
meaning that this scene takes place AFTER the raid on Bird Island. Third, note the vehicles in the background shining their frontlights into the darkness. From the
lego sets, I assume its the Piggy Motorcycle and the Piggy Plane. Also note that this entire scene conveys a steampunk theme too with the metal mesh as the flooring
and the vehicles in the background.
1.24 to 1.26 Now this is the interesting part. Leonard holding an egg in what seems to be a paradise? At least it is in his imagination. Sparkling background with
colours of the rainbow, it sure isn’t Bird Island. Love his evil laugh. A great contrast with the conical-shaped King Pig’s laugh.
1.26 to 1.27 This scene of the gang exploring the Pig’s hideout is hailed by me as the best example and evidence to support my claim that green is used in this movie
to represent the villains while blue is used to represent the birds. Note the greenish interior and the blue light shining from the birds. Love the pig insignia too.
Now where could this take place? I’m guessing the ship that we saw eariler, the design of the pipe is a hint i assume =P
1.27 to 1.34 NOW IT INTENSIFIES! The slingshot is finally introduced! And the irony that the bird’s greatest weapon is actually one used by the pigs first too banish
them from the island! Thats an amusing thought. Also another example of night representing “pig power”and the colour green representing the pigs, at the very start.
Red’s banishment is hardly the climax (I wont elaborate but the flagship AB Lego set should offer a hint), but its interesting to see how Leonard goes on a generic
villain path and actually makes the first move by manipulating the bird community to his will (how else would you explain their compliiance and their reaction to Red
being flung off into the woods?). The next few scenes I presuume are oof Red practising with a slingshot for revenge (note the time difference). The bird mime is
brillant. Enough said.
1.34 to 1.38 Nothing of note.
1.38 to 1.42 Very interesting environmennt design. Does remind one of let’s say…the pools on the Pig Snout mountain? *wink* Inspired by bamboo I guess.
1.42 to 1.53 Nothing of note. Setting up for one of the greatest jokes in trailer history, thats all.
1.53 to 1.56 Note how Mighty Eagle is introduced, with an almost entirely blue sky in broad daylight. Yet another example of blue representing the birds and daylight
representing “bird power”.
1.56 to 2.02 If you pause at 2.02, you could clearly see Mighty Eagle’s nest beside the rock where the birds are hiding. It certainly gives us a better idea of the
geography of the place.
ANNND THE REST IS PURE FUN AND LAUGHTER!
Thanks so much for reading this very long analysis I hoped that you all enjoyed it!!
Omega Out! =)
Oh there seems to be a paragraphing error in my comment above…sorry!
WHY MIGHTY EAGLE?!?!?!?!? JUST WHY?!?!?!?!?!?!? Also, can Chuck and Bomb get any funnier in the movie?!? It was so funny how they reacted when they found out the Lake of Wisdom is where Mighty Eagle uses the bathroom! Whoever came up with that joke was definitely on a total drug trip!!
