SURPRISE! Angry Birds v2.3.0 is now available for iOS, PC, Mac, and Android via Google Play, and with more platforms coming soon. Now that summer is well behind us (for the northern hemisphere, anyways), the classic “beach” theme of Surf and Turf has been concluded. It doesn’t stop there though, as those sneaky piggies have poked there noses into the original Angry Birds game with a brand new episode (Greedy Pigs! As if having their own app wasn’t good enough!).
Note for PC users: Some people have not been notified by the in-game updater. Instead, go to download.angrybirds.com and click on “Download Free Demo” under “Angry Birds” to get the newest .exe file. If you are worried about your progress, check out our Ultimate Backup Tutorial.
This update includes:
- 15 stormy levels conclude Surf and Turf. It’s been fun! Our S&T walkthrough pages are live. You may also find some alternate strategies on the older Facebook Surf and Turf walkthrough pages.
- A new episode called “Bad Piggies” with 15 new levels! Those pesky piggies don’t just have their own game, now they’ve taken over Angry Birds too! Our video walkthroughs are live and the pages are ready for your alternate strategies.
New Golden Eggs! Maybe one, but possibly two. We will confirm soon.After a preliminary run through, we didn’t see any Golden Eggs. This does not conclusively mean there are none, but it seems questionable.- Power Ups! While these were released in the v2.2.0 update (read a lot more here), this is still a big question as to how they will be handled. At first glance, there seems to be no distinction between scores obtained with or without Power Ups after the initial score screen.

We believe King Pig mode is unlocked by obtaining 3-stars on all levels through Birdday Party
and all the Golden Eggs through Birdday Party. Read more in the original release post. - iPhone 5 users may play the app is “letterbox mode”, with approximately 88 pixels of black space on either side of the app. Rovio has told me that their first priority is bringing new content to all devices, but that they plan to stylize for the unique dimensions of the iPhone 5 in the near future.
- Pro Tips: Jewels and Golden Wrenches are worth 3,000 points each! Not a bad idea to become a mechanic with these values.

Important Disclaimer Regarding Power-ups on ABN Leaderboards
Please do not enter scores on the ABo leaderboard that were obtained using power-ups. One of the key issues is the game does not distinguish between scores obtained using power-ups and those without. Yesterday, we announced a new feature on the leaderboard that allows you to undo your score. This should help those who accidentally entered power-up scores, as they can now be reverted (this could be ones only record of their scores). We are working on additional enhancements and will announce those soon.

I noticed when I was backing up my progress, there is a new .lua file called bi_data. May want to include that in your tutorial for backing up progress on PC.

why is there no power ups in pc :(
There is still no method for In-App Purchases on PC. Whenever this “technology” is decided, I would expect to see the Mighty Eagle and Power Ups roll out for PC.
Then, I submit that it might be a long wait. While the purchasing part of an IAP is possible in PC, the installation/activation part is not, especially if the application is open and in active memory. The logic structure of PC does not permit the replacement of any files held in memory. However, all is not lost, as an ME installer could be sold through the program, and even start to run, but it would force closure of the application prior to the addition or replacement of any files, then relaunch it.
It’s not as clean and easy as the iOS method, I grant you, but without major changes to the kernel, we’re sort of stuck. Personnally, I’d expect that kind of change might hit Linux based PC’s before such comes to a Windows based system.
Or maybe the Mighty Eagle would be free like for the Trilogy.
I have a good idea. Rovio could implement an activation button for ME and sell codes to unlock him in the Rovio Shop! Same thing would probably work for powerups.

But you have to buy the ME as an IAP. It isn’t a part of the main app.
@truckdriverActually, ME is part of the app. Look in the PC version data files and you’ll see what I mean. When purchasing ME you are merely activating him, not downloading him. @angryperson I don’t know what you’re talking about.
Possibly, not necessarily. One cannot make assumptions about programming from the contents of an image asset folder. Furthermore, the behavior of the program when one opts to use the ME is indicative of a jump between seperate modules.

Downloaded this update on my PC this morning 11/10/2012 and it installed in “Angry Birds Original” completely wiping out everything-all levels of the “original” game (all 3*).
Subsequent attempts to install in “Angry Birds Seasons” ends in an unsuccessful “repair”. The same update is also offering itself for install in “Rio”-but strangely not “Space”
Contacted Rovio 8 hrs ago. So far no response.
You should probably take a backup of all your data. There seems to be something wrong with your files. Once you backup your data, a full uninstall/restart/reinstall may be a good idea.

A bit disappointed here. I thought the Bad Piggies episode would present some levels from the separate Bad Piggies game. Would love to see those pigs’ constructing abilities AA style. Still haven’t play the game yet. Rather playing on bigger screen so it’s not for my tablet… :)

WOW! I am still working on 3 *’s in Surf and Turf. Piggies is done. Then on to feathers for both. But S&T seems to have a pattern of 2 easy levels, then stuck on a hard one all day. Finally beat it, two more easy levels, then stuck on a hard one all day. Wash, Rinse, Repeat.
And since I already beat S&T on Facebook, it makes trying to beat the hard levels so much worse knowing I have done them already..
@CCJolly, congratulations! I played just a couple first levels in both episodes, I’m going to finish all game during weekend.
Congrats too. I have 3 starred everything, but without score addict achievement, I have no motivation to play the levels again and improve my scores.
Hey Guys, finally got all 3 stars across the latest update :D But just one question: Does the mighty eagle seem almost impossible on the latest updated stages? I have only tried a few of the surf and turf stages with the eagle, yet I am struggling to get a single feather :(
Update, well I have about 10 out of 15 feathers on Bad Piggies, and about 6 out of the final 15 on surf and turf…..but the rest seem incredibly hard
Yup = I’m finding them impossible. Managed the 31-33 so far of the SnT levels – working on 1 a day at the moment. Mind you, I should probably be doing work rather than playing AB all day.
Yes, some of them are rather difficult, because they mat material from one end of the screen to the other (when zoomed out). You have to figure out what items REALLY constitute major factors. There are some levels where boulders (ALWAYS needed) and small glass bits are the key things, and they are on opposite ends of the screen or structure…quite hard. Fortunately, there are a few levels, such as level 42 of Surf and Turf, that are zero birders… you don’t even have to throw a bird to complete it.

They are tough, but quite doable. I have all 30 feathers from the update.
Some are not easy, but other updates were tougher.
On this subject, can anyone tell me how this is possible? I’ve done it several times – 1 triangle of stone left = 95%. One triangle of wood left = 90%. Completely blank screen = 95% and 96%. I’m baffled..

Which level, Ω? I left a start on S&T-31’s page, near the top, if you mean that one. It’s clearly the hardest.
OK…here’s what I did… I use the bombs to get rid of the two stone areas on the left…Above all else, do not use the black birds on the glass…it will blow it off screen and you will not be able to get Total Destruction. Use the blue bird to go through the top hole and rain DOWN on the glass taking out as much as you can, primarily the left hand side of the top portion if possible. Does not matter if center is taken out or not. After all the birds are used, toss the sardine can on the floor in the area so that the wooden center with TNT box and bottom glass area are in alignment. It will take a few attempts, but this will get it.

Still not sure the coding logic to all items cleared = 95% though.. but *shrug* as long as I can eventually get the feather..
The stone clearly counts more than ice. Also, things like the sand bags and the goggles on the large pig seems to count quite a bit a well. I really wish I could offer more help, but I had to appeal to the entire team in order to get the feather. That said, I got it within 5 minutes after watching Sal’s video.
I figured it out. It was the zoom-out factor. There was debris laying on the ground floor.
Finished all my S&T and BP feathers today, so I am complete for the new update.

I find it rather pathetic that Rovio still never updated the BIrds and Pigs from their original ABo and ABs in both the menus and gameplay designs to the ones in Rio, Chrome, Trilogy, Space, etc. If they did upgrade, they could have put in the Freckled and Mechanic pigs as new characters on 19-15 and 20-15 respectively.
A bit of trivia; after 19-15, the Mechanic Pig is shown defeated afterwards, yet in the very level itself, no pig is seen wearing the Mechanic Pig’s hat. I believe even Birdday Party was guilty of the same thing, showing a defeated King Pig despite said episode never featuring a confrontation with the King.
WOW….a little brutal for some graphics…I’d rather they concentrate on the game than worry about some manifested storyline anyways…as far as I’m concerned, it’s definitely secondary to the game anyways.
I disagree. To me, storyline is a major part of a game.
Not to start a war of words, but a story line is cute and all, but honestly, how does the inclusion of a story line help or hinder you in any way from pulling on the slingshot and hurdling those birds to whatever structure is there?

I know King Pig mode started in the HD iOS version of the app, but I’m not sure how far it’s proliferated as of now. I’m presuming you have 3 stars in all levels of all episodes, as well as all 27 GE’s, and you’ve checked the last page of the GE section, so all I can suggest is to email or tweet Rovio.
It isn’t a version issue if you have all S&T levels, as Well as the Bad Piggies episode, so it’s something else.. Perhaps this post might be helpful.

Ahhhh, now I get it. Rollout of that for PC is still a bit uneven, as I understand it. My PC versions all require updates, but it’ll be a while before that becomes an issue for me.

There were 30 levels released in this update: 31 thru 45 of Surf & Turf, plus 19-1 thru 19-15 of Bad Piggies.
Just found King Pig mode! I hadn’t looked at Golden Eggs in a little while because I’d not “unlocked” anything recently, but was quite surprised to turn that up :)
I have all the levels 3 stars and all the eggs, I HAVE ALL THE MIGHTY EAGLES 100%, but I don‘t unlocked King Pig golden egg in android, WHY?????? (sorry my bad english i‘m brazilian)

Yeah – just to add to this I’m still missing the King Pig.
3* in everything, all mighty eagles, all 27 golden egss with *s.
I’ve even tried turning on and off the power ups just in case this was the cause.
I’m running Android 2.1 on a QVGA screen – 320 x 240.
I’m wondering if it’s because I’m running 2.1 or such a low screen res?

• Black & Big Brother into the wooden observation tower on the left side
• Black into the leftmost tower
• Sardine Can against the middle tower, preferably a little bit off the ground (say, vertically just below the wooden planks)
