Rovio sent a very simply tweet this morning with the hashtag #newangrybirds. In typical Rovio fashion, the tweet has raised more questions than it has provided answers. Note, new info has come out, so please see below.

What could this possibly mean?! Here’s some of the earliest speculation:
- I think it could be a Chuck-specific episode to the original Angry Birds, similar to Red’s Mighty Feathers and Short Fuse.
- @Sal9 first reaction was that it could be a whole new app.
OMG, a new AB!
- @BirdLeader thought it looks an awful lot like Stella (see image below).
That looks like Stella to me, but the #hashtag is definitely interesting. GDC (Game Developers Conference) is coming up in March, so it would be a great time to release a significant update. Maybe a whole new game or a Stella specific episode.
- @Miezko thought the image style looks similar to the New Tricks video from New Year’s.
I think it has something to do with the Pink Bird (Fantasy like) Image from the 2014 Trailer
All very plausible, but what do YOU think? Let us know and maybe we’ll sleuth out the truth ahead of Rovio’s less-cryptic announcement!

After the Short Fuse episode, I thought that an “Angry Birds Experiments” would be a very nice addition. Magic Potions, Unreal physics, crazy environments etc … (I’m day dreaming of course) Just speculating :)

Rio 2 isn’t in theatres yet. After the movie has been in theatres, it would be a few months before new episodes is on Angry Birds Rio.

Then it would make Most Sense if it was Rio 2…
Hmm… judging the yellow silhoutte in the second picture, it pretty much seems to me as if it is Nigel (the evil bird) from Rio 2! And with the actual movie releasing this year, i guess rovio has to do something related to that.
I have a second speculation which is that it might be about the avengers. Just calling dibs on that ;)
Looks like a whole new game, Star wars 1 & 2 are reaching the end of the story, so they need another game to keep every one interested until the next star wars either next year or after

I think possibly linked to Rio 2 which according to a film website is due for release in the US on 11th April – whatever it is I can’t wait!
Maybe a whole new game with new birds and different attributes. Maybe it might be called New Angry Birds or Angry Birds 2.
Given the pattern of “2” with the games just speculation on history.
Possibly a prequel or futuristic theme.

I think it has to do with the cryptic “New Year, New Tricks” video. The poster with Pink Bird also had what appeared to be 2 other bird silhouettes. Also, the Pink Bird silhouette may have to do with the Stella-centric Toons series they’ve been talking about for a little while.

Did anyone notice that there is a face inside the first tweet? On the second image it looks like one of them have a duck bill. This is reaching but I don’t think impossible for it to be Avengers. I definitely think there is a spider involved and the one with the duck bill could be Thor. Could the face in the first image be Samuel Jackson?
So many speculations on what this could be! For me I remember that tropical picture in the coming in 2014 video so I’m sure this is what it ‘might’ be. All I know is that it is going to be AWESOME!!!!!
Ok anyone thinking this is Rio 2 it is sadly not ,but I went to the movies to see The Lego Movie I saw a big poster that said Rio 2 on it with new characters and such ,and in the bottom right corner it showed a picture of the Angry Birds Rio app and it said “New Levels Coming Soon!” So we will be seeing Rio 2 levels on the original app!
Wow! However, I will contain my excitement until I know if it uses Telepods or not. Hopefully not ;)
This image looks like an update for Angry birds Rio (since its out this year in april). Or what I said in the new tricks trailer, It could be an Angry birds the Lord Of The Rings or The Hobbit game. So keep a “Birds eye view” on the nest and and Facebook and Twitter

i’m sure it’s an action rpg set in the birds/pigs world, as well as Mario RPG has been for the world of Mario in 96.
It would be awesome if it was The Avengers
