I agree with this analogy…I love me some bubble wrap. Since I am not too big on games, I think I might lose interest pretty soon unless there is something new and different from time to time. *Shrugs.* I guess we’ll find out.

@Weenaoise, — clearly I am somehow not communicating what actually happened correctly or something. I don’t know.

I don’t play ABT very much. I get on maybe once or twice a day and play for about 20 minutes. I collect my coins, redeem my missions, and play a few nodes. That’s my typically game play on days in which I am NOT in clinical rotations. I knew about this challenge and I played a bit here and there beginning when it first started. I did not play any harder, longer or differently. I didn’t even pay much attention to if or how I placed because I didn’t really care.

That being said, on THURSDAY, I had clinical rotations. So, on Wednesday night I had gone to bed around 8 PM. I had played a few times on Wednesday, but I did not start the challenge for Thursday the minute it opened on Wednesday night. I went to bed, so I could be up at 4 AM on Thursday. I already explained the no cell phone policy and why I had no access to my phone on Thursday. I think that’s pretty clear. After taking care of dinner and getting my stinker ready for bed, I retired to the bathroom for a few minutes of peace and played my 4 bars of energy for the challenge. I exited the game and went to bed with my son after reading him a story, so I could be up before the crack of dawn on Friday morning for clinical.

When I got home from clinical, I opened up the game and saw that I had managed to get 3rd place in the challenge which I had played before going to sleep the night prior. I was excited about it, though I really have no clue how that happened since as I’ve previously explained, I do not use gems to play. Then I saw I only got 30 tokens instead of 300. I thought it was weird because I had been earning more tokens then that when I had placed much, much lower on previous days.

So, I came on here and found the thread about the guy who placed first and got 100 tokens instead of 1000. Then I saw the response that a user posted from Rovio addressing that particular issue. It really rubbed me the wrong way since I felt robbed of something I had rightfully earned. I may not have worked super hard for it and I may not have bought gems or played all day like some people, but I got 3rd place by playing my one time and should have gotten the tokens I earned for playing. I would have been even more upset had I, for some reason, when I played Thursday night, used some of my precious gems to play and been penalized NOT KNOWING this was something new that Rovio was doing. This issue ONLY affected me on Thursday. During the week, I was playing more often and was placing anywhere from like 4th to 20th. I don’t know because I don’t keep track. The only reason I even noticed this whole thing at all was because I had gotten excited that I placed 3rd on Thursday’s challenge when I first saw that Friday evening.

By the time I read ON FRIDAY evening about what was going on, the entire day had already passed and I did not get to play until around 6:45 for Friday’s challenge. So, it affected me that day as well for Friday’s challenge. I did play again last night before I went to bed around 10:30 PM for the beginning of Saturday’s challenge and I played a few times today as well because a) I was NOT in clinical today and could sleep normal hours, b) I had access to my phone and c) I knew I had to play earlier in the day to avoid being penalized.

To truly beat Rovio’s system, you would have to be quite dedicated to doing it, I think. Obviously, there were enough people using that last-minute strategy that it was problematic somehow for Rovio’s profit margin and they had to do something about it. I don’t really know.

It doesn’t matter now. The competition is over. I managed to get 2960 tokens…so, I got one decent prize and some coins. I was just 40 shy of the rumble thing. But, since I didn’t go crazy trying to win, I am not bent out of shape about it. I don’t care if I don’t earn something because I am not playing. What pissed me off was that I DID play when I COULD play, happened to do well…and then didn’t get crap-diddly for it. I think that’s understandable, is it not?

Hopefully, THIS made sense…otherwise, I apologize, but I can’t continue to discuss this because it’s not super important anymore and I have other priorities. Hope you all did well and feel good about your outcomes in the game.

@watuzzi (still not sure if this is actually tagging correctly or how to do it)…considering I type 165wpm it didn’t actually take me long to type my “lengthy response.” I wanted to acknowledge the person who had taken their time to respond to me. Also, you are right, at the time I chose to reply, I could have been playing, but I could NOT play the challenge in question that I was referring to because it was over! I was referring to the days in which I am working my clinical rotations, which is the during the week; not on Friday night or Saturday morning. I did not get a chance to play the challenge until about 6:45 PM EST last night after coming home, taking care of my son, making dinner, cleaning up, getting him in the shower and ready for bed. I only played 4 bars of energy last night. As I mentioned, I do NOT spend gems to reboost my energy to play (I don’t have many and I am not about to spend money on a game). Then I need to wait 45-55 minutes to be “recharged” if I wanted to play again. By then, the challenge is either about 15 minutes until over or it is actually over. So, even had I played, it would not have counted as it would have been “last minute” or it simply would have been the following challenge. Not sure if this is making sense. Anyway, I am busy today, but since I actually have my phone on me, I can take periodic breaks to play a little, so this issue won’t really apply to me today. I am also not super competitive about it. I’d like to get one of the prizes, but that’s about all. As I said previously, it’s just the control which Rovio built in to prevent people from taking advantage does hurt other honest players. People who have the kind of hours and life that I have right now may not be in the majority, but if we take the time to engage in something, I really don’t think that our lack of availability to commit time to the game should really be held against us. That was the only point I was trying to make! Good luck to those of you are working hard to win!

Thanks for your response. I really, really need to get back to my work. But, quick question for Wee…what exactly do people keep busy with if you cannot earn new characters or open up new areas to explore? Do they just try to get their transformers as upgraded as possible? Do the individual levels change as you progress in rank? Thanks! Responded to you on my other threads as well. Hope you see.

@ WeeNaoise (not sure if this will work, since I am new to this forum). I truly do only have 1 hour to play (if that). I have a 6 year old child. I am a full-time student in nursing school. When I am in my clinical rotations on Thursdays and Fridays, I get up at 4:30 AM and I am on the floor until 5:00 PM. We have a 30 minute lunch break in which we use the restroom, take a slow-as-molasses elevator down to the cafeteria, order food, wait for said food to be prepared, pay for food, scarf it down and then try to get back up on the floor in time to resume our shift. The hospital has a strict no-cell-phone policy while we are working. We then have post-conference with the instructor. I get home about 6pm. I spend time with my partner and my son, have dinner, use the restroom and then take about 30-60 minutes to play my game before I start my homework. I enjoy the game, but it’s far from a priority for me. It’s just fun and relaxing. I am not dedicated to spending hours playing the game like others might be. I play 4 times in a row (because you get 4 energy bars) and I call it done for the night. I think if I happen to get lucky and place high enough to get some tokens, I should get to keep the tokens I earn and not be penalized because I don’t have time to play all day and the time I do have is right before the challenge ends. If I lived in another time zone, it may not have even have been an issue for me. The workload we have is insane and I literally spend all of my free moments studying (which, quite honestly, I should be doing now, but saw your message and wanted to respond). I do understand people probably abuse the system by trying to exclusively play at the last minute to rack up their rank in the challenge, but *I* don’t do that. Like I said, I don’t have the time, don’t spend the gems or buy them and I am not dedicated enough to the game or trying to cheat it. I just think that if I play, I should be able to collect what I earn if I somehow manage to do well. I usually don’t. I think the highest I’ve placed is 3rd. Usually I fall in around 8th-10th and even lower. Likewise, if I play my 4 times and come in 30th place, I wouldn’t expect to receive anymore than what I should. It’s sad that people who are trying to abuse the game, ruin it for people who just play once a day to take a load off and want to have fun in a competition and actually stand a chance to be able to get a cool reward for participating.

Oh, well, it didn’t work…not sure how to do it…don’t have time to figure it out. I hope you see this. Not meaning to offend anyone, but this is my point of view given my own personal circumstances.

Okay, this seems highly unfair to those of use who have jobs and do not get an opportunity to start playing until we finish with our work day. For me, that is 6 PM EST, giving me a whopping one hour to play before the start of the next challenge. I DO NOT spend gems, so what I get when I play 4 times during the challenge is what I get. If I place, great…if not, oh well. So, what this tells me is that it does not even make sense to play the challenge because I will penalized for only having one hour to play it. Even if I were to buy gems to get more “plays,” I would still be penalized…because…I work??? We should get what we earn. Period.

If people are trying to strategize by purposely playing at the last minute and are using gems, so they can play like crazy to place at the end, then those are the people who she be penalized…if anyone should be penalized. But, quite honestly, I am not even sure it makes sense to penalize those people who do use that strategy. If they are putting money into a game to BUY gems and lining rovio’s pockets…why on earth would Rovio care if those people pour gems into a challenge to have a better shot at placing? Those people who spend their gems doing it are going to run out of gems sooner than if they did not. That would mean they’d have to play more or spend more to get more gems.

This makes absolutely no sense for those of who have a long work day with a 30 minute lunch break in a hospital and cannot play video games on our cell phones. It just makes me sad…I have only enjoyed this game since Christmas and it was a great stress relief for me. But, now, with nothing really to do past level 175 and being penalized for playing a game at the last minute with what little free time I actually have…it kinda makes me think there is really no point at all in even playing. :( *Rant.* I used to really enjoy this game. Now, I just feel sad and defeated. Honestly, if you are being set up to lose, then it’s really no fun to even try. It’s the competition of the you know, competition, which makes it a competition in the first place? If you literally have no chance at doing well, then it’s purposeless. It certainly doesn’t make me want to buy gems!

I played around 5 PM EST…3 hours before the end of the game…came in 4th and got 30 tokens instead of 300. So… what do we do about it??? Anything? It stinks.

Thank you. It’s just odd. All 3 of us play on separate devices and yet, 2 of us get both gems and coins and she very rarely gets gems. *Shrugs.*
