Just yesterday, Rovio released their long-awaited official statement regarding the gameplay of Angry Birds Space, which will be arriving on iOS, Android, PC and Mac on March 22nd. (Be sure to check out that post since it contains a bunch of information about the goings-on in space.) Over the next week, Rovio and Samsung will be releasing “Introductory Videos” feature the birds from Angry Birds Space. These videos can be seen as they come online on the official space.angrybirds.com webpage.
Be sure to check back over the coming days to see all the goodies that Rovio has to offer. As a quick disclaimer, any names appearing in quotes are just placeholders for the time being. As the videos are released, the bird names will be finalized. Thanks to @jake for tipping us off about the early release.
Update: On March 14th, “The Daily” published an “Angry Birds Space Guide” app for iOS. It appears to be free, but we are not aware of any other ports at this time. The app itself is rather interesting, featuring behind-the-scenes videos at Rovio HQ. Also within the article is the official bird and pig names. They have been updated below as applicable. (Note: There is a little discrepancy within the video itself, so these names are still subject to change by March 22nd.) We manually note that the super ginormous pig within the “Cold Cuts” world seems to be named “Fat Pig”.

Lazer Bird — Grab the Wallpaper!
The Lazer Bird may remind you a bit of the Yellow bird, but he’s got “Super Vision”. After launching, trigger his “Super Power Strike” by tapping anywhere on the screen to redirect him. You will see crosshairs on the screen where you tapped and the Lazer Bird will turn and immediately accelerate toward the target. Hope you have good aim!
Red Bird — Grab the Wallpaper!
The Red Bird has received an upgrade from the three original apps. When the Red Bird emerged from the wormhole, he wears an “Über Mask”, which allows him to utilize the “Sling Scope” trajectory display. With this power, the Red Bird can plan his path to cause maximum destruction to the piggies’ space fortresses.
Terence (Big Brother) — Grab the Wallpaper!
Everyone’s favorite Big Brother, Terence, is back and madder than ever. Unlike the Red Bird and Lazer Bird, Terence hasn’t changed much. He’s still bulbous and can destroy large structures in a single bound fling. Before his journey into space Terence ate some bad bird seed, so he’s feeling a bit green. Okay, that’s a joke… but he is green.
Blue Birds — Grab the Wallpaper!
The Blue Birds have arrived in space, and their “conservation of mass”-defying tripling will now be tested in zero gravity and extremely cold temperatures. Based on gameplay footage, it even appears that the Blue Birds get a speed burst upon tripling, making them the perfect destructive means against any icy space junk.
Bomb — Grab the Wallpaper!
Bomb is extremely temperamental, and has a very very short fuse. Besides a slight name change and a superhero wardrobe, Bomb seems to be just as powerful as ever. Can bombs explode without air? Apparently, so random explosive space TNT beware!
Ice Bird — Grab the Wallpaper!
The Ice Bird is a completely new bird, the likes of which Earth has never seen. He recruited the Angry Birds to help recapture the “Eggsteroid”, which is where we will begin on the 22nd. The Ice Bird will freeze anything he touches, so pairing him with the Blue Birds is ideal.
It says red can activate sling scope to see where it’s going, but in the gameplay vids it looks like they can all do that?

What is the profit of using the ice bird? It only freezes the pigs and does not kill them.

The ice bird also makes structures weaker by turning them to ice.

This is an informative page for all first playing AB Space. The Ice Bird was the one I had to get use to when playing. Was not certain to how it functioned.
The ‘Ice Bird’ sounds like a special bird because he only appears on Angry Birds Spacw.
