Slinger: 1000 points
Explosive: 2000 points
Champion: 3000 points
Fling King: 4000 points
Master Slinger: 5000 points
Admin: 10000 points
Leaderboard Guardian
News Sleuth
Score Gatherer
Seasons Greedings 1-16 feather
Wonder what are the remaining 4…
Curious, where and how did you find the actual names? Impressive. Just so you know, the badge and ranking system is still changing daily, so while this is happening don’t be surprised to see changes to the system and possibly to your rank/badges.
Thanks for adding for me the Leaderboard Guardian badge. But lol wished my rank was higher
Is this the whole list?
How did u find the site? Cool so there may be 20 badges?
Looks like it. I actually am Website Developer and got it via a little long method :P
Cool & u got Deputized 100 points?
I see 14 ranks right now, ranging from Flinger to Admin. A few of the others correspond to badges (think Boy Scouts). For example, News Slueth and SG-16 feather (Pre-update)
I’m think I’m Deputized now.
Badges:
Flinger: 0 points
Deputized: 100 points
???: 500 points
Slinger: 1000 points
Explosive: 2000 points
Champion: 3000 points
Fling King: 4000 points
Master Slinger: 5000 points
Admin: 10000 points
I already got the space invader and all of the feathers in the original angry birds from levels 1-1 to 17-15
You shouldn’t have the SG 16 badge but maybe acknowledge them in a post instead because no one can get that badge anymore. A post would be better also so everyone knows who got it. And who is Manu anyway?
Manu is one of the top players here at ABNest, particularly with AB Rio — he currently has the top score on AB Rio by over 250,000.
https://www.angrybirdsnest.com/leaderboard/angry-birds-rio/?u=1263
I honestly think this badges system is the coolest thing ABN has rolled out, since the leaderboard system
Agreed. It’s funny how small icons make us happier! :D
Everything is better with a small icon/badge next to it! ;-)
Are you going to post a grid on the icons so we have something to shoot for? You could put a question mark on the actual icon (like they do in Game Center) and just list the name. Have you explained just how we can accrue points? And, third question, why would I now have two icons shown, but no points? Neat idea ABN, well done.
The first icon is your rank on the site. Everyone started at 0–Flinger and you can accumulate points by, for example, visiting the site daily and commenting. (Note: Spamming won’t help you. If a comment is traded, the points you had earned for the comment are trashed as well.)
Additional icons are badges, which (for now) are assigned manually. Your badge is (the name alludes me, sorry) for being a major contributor to the minimum 3-star scores.
So how do you get points for the badges? I only got 20 points.
Visiting daily and comments for now. I’m sure there will be more ways in the future.
I get it now.
One thing, do points count if you post comments in the forum?
Not currently, but ideally that will be involved as well.
Is it just me, or is their a new pop up menu that appears when hovering over people’s names that shows their score? I swear it has changed since yesterday…
Ongoing effort towards some gamification. We will likely put a post up soon explaining the new system.
Exactly, I’m still working on it actively. The “tooptip” that appears now works on mobile devices too! More updates to come. Once I have it mostly where I want it I’ll put up the post that explains everything.
Nice, I was wondering when I could check my rank on my iPhone! :P And I was right about the menu changing, yippee!
I don’t know if this was already suggested, but you should add a way to plug in Mighty Eagle Total Destruction on the Original and Seasons leaderboards.
And Rio (in a few days ;) ). I agree and this is likely on the to-do list.
Is there a different criteria for obtaining 3-stars in different platforms?
I mean, for example lets take Level 1-1, iPhone Users need to get 50000 for obtaning 3-stars, but if the same level is played on PC,is the score required different for getting 3-stars?
They should all be about the same, some platforms do receive updates sooner than others but overall everything should be comparable.
Should I even bother to enter my score on the leaderboard if I am not even close to the top score? Does that just make more work for you guys.I like to compete, but don’t think I will ever be up there with the top
Shooters. Love the site:)
It’s a good reference to see on which levels you can improve the most. A good goal is to beat the average on most levels. That will greatly improve your total scores.
Ty , also, is there a way to see eveyones score on a certain level, so I could see what place I am in such as first second, last etc? .as always, ty so much for your help and patience
Click on the level number. That will bring up the individual level leaderboard … But you will have to find yourself manually.
I would still recommend entering all your scores. Like slim said, a good way to improve your scores the fastest is to try and beat all the average scores. I usually start improving levels first that I am furthest off the average and then eventually move to levels where you are furthest off the high score.
Ty for your reply and advice sounds good:) I can actually compete with myself and I like the idea of trying to achieve the average , and working towards improving from there.ty again for your time.:)
Kat can you explain to me how Kat and Kathy both lead to the same page when you click them? And your Game Center nickname is Kat so conicently?
I believe she changed her nickname is all.
Got a gmail notification about my name from codebreak, I haven’t found an easy way to go directly to the comments I am notified about, so rather than scrolling through all comments I am relying here.I originally had my name as kathy, when I edited my profile, it said nickname required so I put kat which was my dads nickname for me.I didn’t realize that you don’t have to have that nicknaname as your public name so I changed it back to kathy which I originally used when I signed up. Why do you ask? Hope this helps:)
Thanks slim , that is all changed my nickname lol, no need for the big explanation:)
Also want to add, I don’t even know how to get to game center, no less have a name there.srry but I am just curious why you want to know?
Hey, Kat. I also hesitated to enter my scores, but did it anyway. It’s a really cool way to figure out where you are at as far as the average scores. Helps me a lot. PLUS, the folks here give LOTS of hints. Yes, we’re competitive, but I’ve found most of the top scorers more than willing to share strategies. Enjoy!
Ty for the support spurs:) I am having fun on the leaderboard trying to beat the averages, and it its cool with the hints and help from everyone. I feel like I am part of a team:)
Excellent game, Registered and logged all my score to the leaderboard. I’m much happy that there are great achievers out here.
Congrats to the one with high scores :-)
Is there a leaderboard for the chrome levels around anywhere? :)
Nope
ah well, nevermmind :) Also, if i usually play on iPhone,, but have a higher score on a different device (ie pc) can i still enter that score on the leaderboard?
Sure
ok thanks :)
Hey Bird Leader, I love the implementation of the individual scores by your posts on the 3-star guide pages.
I’ll reply to myself because I can. A suggestion for the leaderboard would be some way to identify if a high score has been previously flagged, and then validated and found to be accurate. This could save the admins time from tracking things down or having to keep a manual list, and could give some confidence to the users that the high scores are valid. I guess in theory any score that is flagged could have a “validated” or “certified angry” status on it.
Yh, this would be really useful when tracking down dodgy scores, and also saves wasted time on reflagging verified scores :)
Would love such a functionality. A lot of work though. The existing flag system works ok, but some people don’t understand how it works (unfortunately) and flag every score thinking they are confirming their own entry. That’s when it’s tough for admins.
Wow, the WHOLE list gets flagged? That’s a lot of work……..
Confirms again that the job you guys do is brilliant :)
Basically, yeah. For example, every top score on Wreck was flagged within a 1h window earlier today — so I assume it was 1 person. Same happened on Go Green. It’s really tough.
Once again replying to myself. To go along with my “certified angry” comment, something along the lines of the badges could be implemented. Those of us that frequent the boards / forums know who the reliable and skilled shooters are. New people, seeing some of the scores may not understand what is really possible. Could there be a “certified angry” (or something appropriate) badge for the shooters that are known to be skilled. I use Mr.Potata, Habanero, and Manu as examples. Although there are badges out there for various accomplishments, they don’t have real meanings, to me at least.
I think this is a great idea.
Along those lines, I suggested a little while ago that the certified scores be marked by some sort of badge to avoid repeat flags. I doubt that new users take the time to go through the comments looking for verifications. Just a thought :)
We would like that as well. Or clicking the flag will first bring up a provided screenshot. If you are still very skeptical, you can proceed to flag.
I love the screenshot idea.
I definitely like the screenshot idea. Perhaps also an icon box that tells you you are entering a high score before you submit it may reduce the number of typos as it would make you check twice before submitting
Phew, this is taking me some time. But bit’s easier for me to see at a glance which levels I need to work on.
Suggestion: How about adding a tab to allow us to view not just our overall score rankings, but rankings by country & device?
Good ideas. Would like this at some point.
Hello, I have another suggestion about ranking. How about adding a column in personal leaderboards to see the ranking for each level ?
Yes, this is on the to-do list.
I like what you are adding on to the leaderboards that this company created for us to view and enjoy, but… when are you going to update the Angry Birds Seasons Free or Rio Free, since you are not updating the free versions; only the full versions.
We are not the developers of the game. We are a fansite. We have nothing to do with updates or releases.
Whatever. I just wanted to let the COMPANY see this.
Rovio has said they will update all versions of the app, including the Free versions for iOS. Understandably, they are a lower priority than paid versions.
Hey, Slim. Have you heard anything about Rovio putting the paid versions int he Android Market, or enabling in-app purchases to turn off the ads? I am saddened that only the Amazon Market Place has the ad-free versions for sale.
That’s exactly what Rovio wants to do, but it has not been implemented yet.
T-Mobile Android devices can both purchase the Mighty Eagle (in-app, click the “Eye”) and remove ads (in-app, click the “X”) via the T-Mobile Mall version. Ideally, this will likely be the exact setup as Android Market when all is said and done.
Showing the ranking of each level is really a great idea!
It now gives me another goal to reach, after getting over average in every level.
:-)
Have to agree. Long-awaited and really expedient improvement!
I noticed a little bug though (think it is one): Score and rank in the blue header of personal leaderboard are always mine (if logged in) even if I visit a leaderboard of someone else. I suppose there should be displayed score and rank of respective user instead.
This was brought to our attention. We will fix it soon.
I believe I have fixed this issue, but please let me know if you still notice it. Thanks.
Thanks!
@trishohara: I found an easy and well working formula to identify those levels you should improve first:
[user-defined coefficient] * [(Rank on level * Off High By) / -(Number of users for particular episode)]
This generates a digit between 0 and 100 (depending on coefficient; could be 5, 10 or something like that).
~0 means: Awesome score. No improvement necessary.
~100 means: Bad score. Try to improve this one first.
You can indicate all levels at specified intervals with colours as well, like me: KLICK
I personally use the colours of item quality from World of Warcraft: Common (white) < Uncommon (green) < Rare (blue) < Epic (purple) < Legendary (orange).
It definitely helps a lot!
The reason using this formula is simply that both rank and score are important in the same way, if you try to detect which level needs to be improved first.
Thankfully ABN introduced rank on personal leaderboard so all gets much easier from now on! :)
Actually, I think a couple of things would be really useful.
1. Percentile rank – this allows you to normalize rank based on the number of scores for a level, and is:
(Rank * 100)/Number of scores entered for level
This is guaranteed to be between 0 and 100, with smaller being better – i.e. top 5% better than top 50%.
It also mean percentile ranks are comparable across all games, so I can see which is my worst percentile rank level across all of them, and concentrate on that level first.
2. Change “Off average” column to also show positive numbers – I’m now above average for all ABS levels (which is not the case for AB!), but can’t sort by how far above the average I am. If this column showed positive numbers too, e.g. +100 means I’m only 100 above the average, then I can sort by the column to identify the levels easily that I’m only just above the average for.
3. Z-score
The Z score is a measure of how many standard deviations a value is from from the mean. E.g. if the average (mean) for a level is 100,000 and the standard deviation is 10,000, and my score is 105,000, then my Z-score for that level will be +0.5 ((105,000-100,000)/10,000). This helps control for which levels have a broad vs. a tight distribution of scores. Sorting by Z score would allow me to target those levels where I am most likely to improve my score, as they would have the lowest Z-scores.
By the way, thanks for the additions to the leader board – the site is great!
You’re very welcome. I love these suggestions. #2 should be easy enough to do, so I’ll work on that one first. #1 and #3 shouldn’t be too hard either, but I don’t have a great way to display that info as we’re running out of space. My current idea on how to solve that problem is to allow you to be able to toggle different view settings, replacing the data in one column, with something else. For example, you could replace “Rank” by “% Rank”. I’ve added all this to my list. Thanks again.
I really like #2 – would be useful to know how far above average you are.
Just a bit of fun trivia for you – according to my spreadsheet, currently the version where the high scores are closest to the average is AB Lite, with the high score around 12.4% above the average. The lowest one is Rio Full, at around 14.9%
Z-score might also allow you to find outlying scores more easily and systematically. Either sort all scores across all games by z-score, to find those that are furthest above the mean (in terms of standard deviations), or for all levels, look at the z-score difference between the top and second ranked scores for each level, and sort by that difference. Just a thought.
I love the Z-score project. You could also make a dispersion curve of each level (most probably a gaussian) –> the maximum of this curve will be different from scores average, but more significant I think. If the variance is very low (the curve looks like a pick), it will be difficult to improve your score.
Makes me feel like I’m back in school. Sorry ;)
I will try it for a few levels
#2 is truly helpful and kinda obvious as well. Like it.
But what I tried to explain above is that both rank AND score should be combined in an expedient number. Though average score is slightly better than only high score you definitely need the rank to make a right statement about improving your next level. I think it does make sense…
And I though I was organized…
There is a little trouble with sorting the leaderboards by rank : the sorting seems to be alphanumeric instead of numeric (like the off average comumn long time ago).
We are aware
This should be fixed. Let me know if it’s not. Thanks.
Hi to al ABN hope it is okay to put this here..firstly the new rank per level is so helpful ,and certainly brings u back to earth with a thump ..I have been going back over eirly episodes to improve ,and 1 idea that I thought may help is knowing from the leader board if the high score had come from 1 bird for that episode ,as I find it has helped me no end in many levels ..I love idea of the country rank ,.and a quick hint to any1 that plays while outside that finds it hard to see due to glare ,whatever ,,try playing with black on white turned on ..as always many thanks to the best site around ,it’s my first bookmark .Have a good year …
Welcome to ABN.. its a very helpful site we all learn from each other. ? How can you tell high score is from one brd? I just recently joined the leaderboard and did not see that
Good idea though if its not already in place:)
HI Kathy hope u are well..I jnormally just find from reading the comments in the walkthroughs ,quite often from the players that I am trying to catch ( wishful thinking) ..just thought it would save time if it was a confirmed 1 Birdy on the leader board ,especially if u have been close to doing it ,makes u keep trying again an again and again ,lol …have a good day ..
Why not ‘force’ everyone who entered a highscore, to describe in the walkthrough how they did it?
I think that would help more, than having a column in the leaderboards, how many birds were used.
And it would make cheating/faking highscores more difficult
I was in know way suggesting anything like that ,for 1 the ppl that monitor the leader boards take that job very seriously and are good at it ,and u can be sure any high score that is not for real will not be there for long at all ,between the managers of the site and the scrutiny of the players they would be sorted out quick smart.2 sharing info is fine and in abundance ,and just because u know how something is done ,does not nessasarily mean that u can replicate it ,..part of the reason I like this site is the fact that I know my scores are up against true scores…
@xebic88: I could mention all levels at least on Rio where 1-birder are possible. But there is an interesting fact that such a good player as you should know about:
1-birder isn’t always the best approach! That’s why walkthrough pages are the only chance to share all strategies and the efficient number of birds to be used.
@trishohara: Enforcement is usually the worst option. Sometimes you don’t remember exactly your approach after few attempts or you just don’t know how to describe it. Maybe someone doesn’t want to be a real part of this community but wants to enter his scores anyway. Though explaining your approaches is certainly helpful it should never be forced.
This can be tiring but why not make a seprate column or leaderboard (more tiring) for controversial-but-possible scores or glitched scores. This should also include the screenshot of the highscore but if too high then the score will be added to a seprate coloumn.
May add some kind of marker to denote them, but anything more than that is too much
True. More columns can cause more confusions :)
Has anyone else noticed that Manu has decided to branch out from his dominance of Rio into Original? Top score in both Birdday Party and Mine and Dine, and 2nd in Ham em High. So unfair to us mortals slowly trying to improve our rank.
Yep, better stop him before he takes over all ABN leaderboards… :D. Great job Manu!
How about adding a comment at the top of the leaderboards explaining that you need to post a minimum of x scores in y episodes to avoid having your scores erased? From experience, I know many new or average players don’t see the point in posting mediocre scores, but posting the one and only good score is sweet! The recent addition of showing how far off the average and high you are does provide an incentive if you are trying to improve.
Because then people would just enter the minimum. We prefer our minimum requirement to be unwritten.
How does you say “video” and so you can click on “video” and so the video open on a new side? Sorry if this is difficult to understand.
you have to make a link with the url to the video around the word video
like that without the spaces
<a href="URLtovideo.com" target="_blank">Text you want to display</a>
Hi trishohara and ABFan,
I tweaked the desired code slightly to accurately reflect what ABFan was asking for. trishohara wrote the same code as above but did not include target=”_blank”. As she had written (without target), you are linking to a new website like a normal hyperlink. As I wrote (with target), the hyperlink defaults to open the new website in a new tab/page — depending on your browers’ setup.
Is there a way to go directly back to specific leaderboard page, where you enter your score, from the “my leaderbord” page? When i press leadeboard home then I have to press game as In abo then episode instead of directly back?ty for help:)
Sorry, let me double-check that I understand correctly. You are within your personal leaderboard?
If so, I don’t quite see a “clickable” way of doing that. What you can do, however, if go into the Address Bar and remove the part of the URL that says u=___&. That is, change the URl from “…/?u=953&worldid=…” to “…/?worldid=…”
Ok ty slim as u know by now I am easily confused..lol I will try that if I can’t figure it I will just keep “take the long way home”ty :)
I’m not sure I follow either, but if there is a navigational issue I would be happy to take a look. FWIW, You can enter your scores on both the main leaderboards and your personal boards.
Ty BL I will try that from that page.ty:)
I don’t see where to enter score on ” your/my leaderboareds) “ssry ty for help and link slim:)
Hmmm try on the right. Far right. If not, the left.
If you’re logged in navigate to your boards, then click the edition, then the episode (if applicable) you want to view. For example, this is your Year of the Dragon board. Once on the board look for the “Your Score” column. Mouse or tap on any cell within that column to enter your score for that level. That’s it.
How about adding a “Your Leaderboard” option to the top-level learderboard pull-down menu? (In your spare time, of course).
That’s a great idea, but not too easy to do because of how the menus are created. Let me look into that a bit.
Forgot to reply. This functionality is active, but it is not in the “Leaderboard” pull menu. Rather, you can uncover this in the “[Username]” pull menu. Check it out!
Thanks! I almost missed this reply. I wonder how many people know about this? is it new???
Yes, just implemented a few days ago.
I think I am missing something..what do you mean by pull down menu? Srry ty:)
Hover (or click once if on mobile) on your username in the top right. This will reveal (or “pull”) a sub-menu.
How do FujiToast and AMslimfordy get the gray circles in their walkthroughs? Is it the app they use or is it just a recording style?
That’s just a functionality of the screen capture to show where the user’s fingers are.
Ok but how would I get it on my android? I have started recording other games on my phone but with no circles.
I believe it is part of the app, if you have a different one compared to what Slim or FJ is using, you would obviously have different results. Not a big deal if you have the circle or not though…
I just use a TV-out button on my phone and hook that up to a camera which is hooked up to a computer. Anyways What about obtaining GE 1 for example? It would just appear in a recording.
Sorry, I have no idea what you are asking.
If you recorded yourself Obtaining golden egg from level 1-8, the touching the chest would appear blank without the circles. I just conclude that I wish I had the circles.
Slim…What screen capture do you use?
For iOS or PC?
Ios thanks !
For iOS, we use Display Recorder, but video recording on iOS requires jailbreaking. Display Recorder is only available through the Cydia Store.
what are the dangers of a jailbroken ipod touch 4g
I answered you once already. Please refer to the forum
Yes!!!! I have made it into the top 5!!!! (Not for long, I’m sure) :) :) ;)
What Angry Birds? Orginal, Seasons, Rio, Orginal Lite, Orginal Free, Seasons Free or Rio Free?
Year of the dragon, just one.
Wtg sunshine..looks like your having a Great day:)
Ok. What level? And how does you now that you are one of the top 5?
Well done. I have made fith place on Ham’O’Ween 2-10 somehow – bet I won’t be there for to long either, but hey ho. Nice to be up there. Will probably be the closest I ever get to 1st :)
You can tell what place your in by simply clicking the level on the leaderboard:)
Thanks, Kathy!! (Go NE) :)
Angry Bird Fan, level 10, I’m sure not for long, but it’ s fun while it last!!
Yvw… and thank you for the support forthe pats:)!!!! All the to indy..
I left a note at your post on YoD level 7, I hope it makes you smile.
I have only just realised that there is no leaderboard for AB:S GE’s, after trying to enter scores for GE’s #25 and #26 (Ham’o’ween) and being off AB’s #25 and #26 by over 100,000 points.
Is there any plan to put up a Season’s GE leader board, or add the Seasons GE’s into the AB/AB:Rio leaderboard?
Many thanks.
There is a Seasons GE leaderboard, but it is not publicly broadcasted at the moment.
Ahhh, OK.
I know you guys do this as a hobby, but do you have any timescale for it?
Many thanks.
We have 1 more improvement to make and then we will make it public.
Thanks.
And thanks for the quick respons.
Just a little suggestion but if you’re on a levels particular walkthrough and you enter the score on that page itself it says “Your score has been added to the leaderboards”. Where by clicking leaderboards you’re re-directed to this page. Can you make it so that it links to the particular app’s leaderboards itself. Sorry if I am being demanding.
That would be rather difficult, I think. It would require a different boilerplate for each episode.
No problem :D
just out of curiosity guys, how do scores entered get verified?
We can ask players to submit screenshots of their scores.
