It seems that Nitrome and/or Rovio listened to quite a bit of user feedback. One minor-but-significant improvement to the app is the in-game dialogue: Clicking the “Fast Forward” button jumps the dialogue completely, instead of line-by-line like in v1.0.0.
More significant is the introduction of the Watcher. Slightly creepy, the Watcher introduces in-game and GameCenter achievements! To view these in-game, click on the trophy in the bottom-left corner of the Episode Selection Screen.
There’s a total of 25 achievements to unlock, but 16 of them are secret achievements! For any hidden or secret achievement, you must first find the achievement in-game. These appear in particular levels (noted in the achievement descriptions below) as wooden signs with a balloon on top. Slice the balloon to read the achievement. You may then proceed to earn the achievement. Here’s what Nitrome has to say about the Watcher:
We have an all new character called the watcher who sets you missions on little sign posts around the game.
Missions range from trying to strike a chicken enough times before it flys off screen to a pack wide treasure hunt and even a mission that will involve some detective work finding the Vikings that are ever so subtlety different….ooohhh! We have made every effort to go beyond what you would normally expect from achievements to something we really feel expands the game world!
Retroactive Achievements: If you’ve already played most of the game, you will have to re-complete a few levels to force achievements to register. We outline a few below:
- Gold Digger: Complete any level, even one that doesn’t include any coins.
- Hammerfest Hero: Complete the last level of Hammerfest with any number of cuts. (Same for Trollmarsh Triumph and Underdwell Over. The last level ofUnderdwell should also unlock Perfectionist.)
- Bugged: Having previously completed the side quests, I cannot seem to unlock Animal Lover or Good Samaritan.
We have a full list of these achievements live in the Achievements Section of the site, but a few of them still have question marks about how they are supposed to be earned. If you have any information about these, please let us know!
Waiting for an Android version
Nitrome mentions this in their video above.
Interesting — Just sent you list, which shows 25, but I only got credit for 24.
@mvnla2 I got credit for all 25 (I missed one of them in Magnet). By any chance did you obtain a gem before opening the “challenge”?
@AMSlimfordy — I don’t think I obtained one before I opened the challenge. The list I sent you via “conatct us” I made after I found the challenge; so it is a record of how many I found on each level as I went along. Do you see any mistakes in my list? It’s possible that I miscounted somewhere.
@mvnla2 Your list matched mine, it seems. We’ll have to see. I’m gonna work on creating that pretty soon.
@mvnla2 I just published the achievements page. A few of them are “unconfirmed” as to where the achievement should be earned, but all have where the achievement is found.
I really appreciate your help. Check out the B&R group ;)
I can’t find the achievement page.
Icebreaker achievements
Thanks. But if I click on “achievements” on the top of this site, “Icebreaker” is not listed.
Ah we need to add it to the pull down (@BirdLeader). However, if you click on Achevements, it appears on the full list.
All set! Thanks @chriss and @amslimfordy.
Haha! I like it how they put that little joke in the trailer.
That’s 25 achievements total.
So secret achievements:
HF — 1
TM — 10
UD — 5
Forget comment above. There may be none in UD
@AMSlimfordy Help! Please! I’ve managed to get myself so confused. I’m looking for the missing (maybe gem). So the comment about secret achievements is OK, and the comment to forget about it is wrong! Gaaah!
Wow now that is an update, 16 secret achievement. Played a few levels but this game is on the “radar” to play in the near future. Appears that the completion and obtainment of all the achievements are a real challenge.
@wrw01 — If you haven’t played Icebreaker at all, completing it, without any achievements, is a real challenge. Last I looked, the admins hadn’t figured out how to get all the challenges.
Is it possible that only the so called “quests” are hidden achievements?
@Chris — Not sure what you mean?
it took them 4 months to come up with this update, no new levels and it is bugged on top of that! I know the budget and everything is probably not as big as for the other games but still this is not very rovio-like…
Where do you see the level numbers like level 13 or level 3A ???
The numbers themselves don’t exist. We added them ourselves to help give some order and perspective.
Ah ok.
I think I’m going to download that game and give it a shot. It looks interesting and I love achievements.
@AMslimfordy when do you think the android version of this game will be out
We have no info on that. You’d have to ask Nitrome.
