The Angry Birds summer hype train is still in full effect. After the extremely successful launch of Angry Birds 2, the new Angry Birds Arcade game at Dave & Buster’s and updates to several of the spin-off games this summer, it would be easy to think that things are winding down for the franchise. But like Bomb getting angrier, things just keep heating up.
Coming August 17, Angry Birds Friends will host a Hip-hop-themed tournament. Along with the tournament, a new song from Black Sheep’s Andres “Dres” Titus, his son Sidney Max and DJ Premier will drop, according to billboard.com. “Here Come The Birds” will include a video and downloadable music track.
Premier gave us a brief glimpse of what we might expect in the video on Instagram.

This is not the first time Rovio has teamed with famous musicians for Angry Birds themed collaborations. Rocker Slash updated the theme to AB Space, Major Lazer fought Zombie Pigs during Halloween and Apocalyptica became Aporkalyptica during a Finland-themed Seasons update and Green Day was featured in their own Friends game a few summers back.
Additionally, soundtracks for most all the spinoff Angry Birds games have been offered for sale on popular outlets like iTunes and Amazon, including AB EPIC, AB Go!, AB Fight, AB Stella, AB Transformers and most recently, Angry Birds 2.
Check out a sample of Sidney Max’s skills in this video:
With less than a year until Angry Birds the Movie is released in theaters, we can only guess at what surprises Rovio will have in store until then. Updates to the new spin-off games? a new AB Star Wars game, based on Episode VII? It’s anyone’s guess at this point, but rest assured, Rovio will continue to bring unexpected new surprises, like the upcoming hip-hop track in a few weeks.
What do you think, fellow flingers? Are you jazzed about the upcoming tournament? Will you be buying the song for your mobile device for flinging and singing on the go? Rock a rhyme that’s right on time in the comments below. But beware, it’s tricky..
Wow…Sidney does have talent and a great memory for all the words. He had a great dialogue going. Very impressive.
Indeed impressive. Just wow. O.O
I bet the tournament will be awesome- just like Sidney
