Why Energon versions?

Home Forums Angry Birds Transformers Forum Why Energon versions?

  • So a transformer gets imbued with energon and then there’s an energon version, and there’s still a non-energon version in ABT?

I mean, is it just for variety or isn’t energon an upgrade to the transformer that makes the old one obsolete?

@matt-rohde-10 The Energon characters take more damage than their regular versions, because “Energon is volatile”.

I was thinking that the Energon versions was just Rovio getting lazy and not wanting to design some additional characters for the game, so they simply added glowing parts to existing character designs.

[Now that I think of it, in the same way that Takara/Hasbro often reused the molds from their Transformers toys and simply repainted them and called them a new character.]

But from what I’ve been reading about the new Android release, the Energon versions can regain health mid-run by hitting certain types of targets.

They regain health on collecting Energon cubes.

That’s on top of charging their special abilities?

    Energon characters
    + deal more damage
+ regain health from energon cubes
    – more volatile
= their weapons work differently, giving some pluses and minuses
