TELEPODS Scanning Help

I have 6 telepods and an iPhone 5s. Whenever I try to scan them in I have to shuffle the stand around a lot to get it to work. Is there something I’m doing wrong, and if so can I get some help? I always point the part with the ABSWII logo forwards to start off…

It’s just a bit temperamental and requires a near-perfect picture, which is hard with such a heavily-convex lens.
