kelshe@kelsheI’ve been stuck at login for several hours. Progress bar is full, goes no farther. Anyone else? Is it possible that we’re in for another Easter update debacle? That episode cost me an Arena win. As of when I logged off I had a 620 point lead in this week’s Arena; if it takes Rovio two days to fix another problem like last time, I’ll probably be denied again.
Thoughts, anyone?

heybert17@heybert17This happened to me the other day, after about 24 hours I finally had to uninstall the app and reinstall it. I had linked to facebook so I was able to keep my progress. It started me back at the beginning but as soon as I logged back into facebook through the app my progress was there. Not sure what will happen if you haven’t linked to facebook.
kelshe@kelsheI don’t use Facebook or other social media. And, no, I’m not a Luddite. Just not interested in those things. If I have to Uninstall and re-install, I’m pretty sure I’ll lose all progress. At that point, I’ll be through with AB2. No way I’m going to slog through 600 plus, 3 star levels, lose 7 level 10 birds and start over in vanilla league after being in diamond for months. Hope that doesn’t happen but if it does, I’ll have to say goodbye to the game.
CaptSternn@captsternnWhat kind of device are you using, Kelshe? If it is iOS you should be able to back up your device through iTunes. I did that back when the Easter update crashed the game, well, I backed it up a couple of days before after finishing level 520. Uninstalled the app and lost everything but got almost everything back when I restored the device.

heybert17@heybert17Not sure what to tell you, I know before I logged into facebook and got everything back, the app still showed all the Achievements I had unlocked. There might be a way to keep your progress if you go through Rovio support. I know I tried for hours to get in, but reinstalling was the only thing that worked. If I had lost all progress I wold have been done also, not worth the headache to do it all again.

kelshe@kelshe@captsternn, I’m embarrassed to admit this but my once considerable tech/computer skills have atrophied since I retired 18 months ago. My experience with sound/lighting/computers made me the guy everyone came to for tech help. But I haven’t kept up and now find myself quite ignorant and behind the times. All that preamble brings me to this: I created a Samsung account and backed up all my data. My question to you, which I hope isn’t an imposition, do I now delete AB2 and then do a restore? I really appreciate your consideration.

Then try to open it again. If that doesn’t work try doing a hard shutdown of the device.

If that doesn’t work I would try deleting the app and then doing a restore without reinstalling the app. If that doesn’t work, reinstall and then do a restore, but be sure not to do a backup first.
Please understand I am just giving suggestions, not sure if it will work. I will keep the forum open and keep an eye on things to help if I can. Best of luck and I will try to not be so slow watching this topic. You have my full attention at this point.

kelshe@kelsheClosed all apps via task mgr. Nothing. Hard shutdown. Nothing. Debating deleting. Probably risking loss of progress. I can re-install via Google play store but concerned it will be as if it’s a new installation. I might be SOL here. BTW, I have a support request in at Rovio but it might be a while before they respond and their hands might be tied to help because I’m not on Facebook.
CaptSternn@captsternnI am sorry, Kelshe, I can only do so much from here on this end, remotely. I really want to help because I know a lot is invested. I would suggest wait until tomorrow, close the app and don’t restart it until tomorrow. Maybe wait for the next update, probably next Thursday. Or take the gamble. Even if you take the gamble and delete maybe you can restore later and get the progress back, better than starting from the beginning. That is what happened to me but it was only a day.
Then again Rovio says they get info on crashes, so maybe waiting would be best even though that is so very frustrating. I wish I could do more to help. Please keep us posted on what happens. Best of luck.
Edit: One other thing, you can create a Facebook page and make everything private and not use it except to maybe restore AB2. I once created one but I don’t use it. It is all locked down. Just did it out of curiosity. Maybe that is an option?
